  • Here's my first video from the 2022 Challenge Internationale de Paris, featuring a nail-biter of a bout between Ha Taegyu and Cheung Ka Long in the round of 64.

    I wonder if it's because they fence fairly frequently, but Cheung looked a lot different than normal. He normally looks more relaxed (almost like he's regularly strolling) when he's marching but he looked a lot more tense. Maybe it's just a perspective trick from him being on the right.

      This is only the third time these two have ever fenced according to the FIE website, with the last time being in 2017. He knows how fast the Koreans can be though, so I think we was just trying to avoid getting outrun.

      @@TheFoilist that's fair. I suppose he knows that relaxing against someone with that fast of an attack would likely be less than ideal

      ​@@TheFoilist And he lost that bout 15-11, which happened to be the Asian championships final. I'd imagine losing in the finals stage might get to your head a bit, especially since it wasn't a big blowout and he very likely could have won it.

    I suggest to find a way to keep the sound of the fencing in the video if possible

      In this case the microphones in the venue were positioned in such a way that the crowd was way louder than the fencing. I can only work with the audio I'm given!
