I'm glad you didn't scrap it Josh, I love Julian Sands, he's a great actor and always brings a touch of class to everything he's in. The Warlock movies, Boxing Helena, Arachnophobia (Which my girlfriend still refuses to watch due to her fear of our 8 legged friends) I'd like to think they're going to find him alive and well but if we're being honest with ourselves, that's not going to happen :( It would be one hell of a miracle survival story if he was, worthy of its own movie, the conditions he's been missing in are brutal, sad news man, it really is :(

Julian Sands is an amazing actor, I hope if he has passed that it was as painless as possible and hope is as well as possible. I grew up with the first two warlock films, that first one is such a classic.

Thank you for not scrapping it. I've always loved this series, and wish he had wanted to continue in horror (I've always heard he wanted "more serious films" and thus his transition to romance and drama). Thank you for adding to his memory in a respectful way.

I'm glad you finished it. The first Warlock is as close to a live-action Castlevania as we'll probably ever get, and Julian was an amazing villain.
I wish peace for his family.

Saw the first one a LONG time ago. I did not know Julian was missing. This channel is so specialized/specific and these films are obscure enough that nobody would draw a conclusion that they were taking advantage of the situation.

I was so bummed out when I saw that Sands was missing. I'm glad you didn't scrap this timeline because I've been waiting for it. My two favorite films of Sands', however are kind of obscure. One is "Vibes" where he costars with Jeff Goldblum, Cyndi Lauper and Peter Faulk and the other is "Tale of a Vampire" which, unfortunately, has never been released on DVD. I still own an old VHS of that one and really would love to update it someday.

Thanks Josh- always wondered how the other 2 were. Have to track down Armageddon now. Shame about Sands.

Apologize for nothing. Those of us who enjoy your work - which is a reflection of who you are - know that you do this for enjoyment, not exploitation.
You help spread happiness through your videos and that cannot be discounted.

not so fun fact, Warlock inspired a real murder, a child was killed by a teenager and his 8 year old accomplice so that his fat could be used to make a 'flying potion'. Pretty grim stuff - the teen killer was named Sandy Charles - I think he ended up in a mental health facility as opposed to prison.
Lots of love and respect for Julian Sands - a great actor.

Hey--old credit cards could also be "swiped," using carbon-paper to imprint the numbers for later billing, instead of "instant billing," meaning someone could max out a card (and go over) pretty damn quick.

Sad timing but will either be a good tribute or something we can laugh about in the future. One of his brothers has said they expect he's dead, but that it would be typical for him to just come walking out.
Didn't see the first two at the cinema but did see them when they came out on video. In fact, I think they're both downstairs ... I didn't know there was a third one, or that there were comics! After A Room With A View, Warlock is my favourite Julian Sands film.

I'm kind of shocked you didn't comment on the silly aspect of the dagger in Armageddon. That dagger is THE ONLY thing that can kill the Warlock in that film. He gets his hands on it and then brings it with him and they use it to kill him. If he just left it somewhere on the country side, or buried it, or gotten rid of it in any way he would have been immortal. He legit killed himself by brining it with him and there is NO REASON for him to do this. It is one of the most dumbest things I have seen any horror character ever do.

There is one connection between 1 and 2, sort of. In Part 1, the Devil promises the Warlock that if he brings together the three parts of the Grand Grimoire, Satan will make him the one begotten son, which is what he sort of is in Part 2.

There is a tiny detail that links the first and second: In the first, Satan tells the Warlock (through the fortune teller) that if he succeeds in combining the parts of the grimiore, he would beome the Devil's son. He may have failed in saying God's true name backwards, but he did bring the book together. So then in part 2, it's the Devil's son that is born: the Warlock.

As for your question, yes there is a difference, especially in the 80’s & even today depends on who you ask. I don’t like it being used as an umbrella term today. I remember when it was only used as a perjorative (as was the point she was making). If others want to describe themselves using that term it’s fine, butI will never use it to describe myself. For me, it’s a lot like black people using the N-Word, I’m not a fan of “reclaiming slurs”.

    • @movietimelines
      @movietimelines  ปีที่แล้ว

yeah, it's just weird the way it comes off in the film, because the way that she states it, it comes off as "my roommate is gay, which is good, but he's not queer, because that's bad." it's just a strange bit, because it ends up with her basically demonizing a portion of the gay community.

    • @peterdanior4538

It gives such a different take on my limited knowledge and experience with warlocks in media and entertainment. Cool little things like the finger cuffs keeping him in captivity and using nails in footprints.
Some of it comes off corny but I categorize this movie in the same way I do Wishmaster. I love both movies even though most people wouldn’t classify them as horror classics alongside Nightmare or Friday.
