I have also struggled with anxiety and depression over the past 20 years. Teaching without medication would have been impossible for me. It always helps to hear others openly talk about the issue. I hope all people who struggle will not be afraid to reach out and get help. Mental health is SO important! :)

Dealing with anxiety as an educator is extremely difficult. I definitely benefit from having open conversations. Journaling has been revolutionary as well. I still have plenty of those days but I do my best to take it one thing at a time.

It’s so amazing to see you being so vulnerable with us! Thank you. I also really enjoy seeing what is happening at your school in the Midwest, I am in Vermont and we are experiencing a huge surge due to cold temperatures and people traveling. We just found out yesterday we were doing two more Covid snow days. We as teachers will all get through this together!! Let’s make it through the end of the school year. I love watching your videos each week! It’s nice to watch genuine and authentic people on TH-cam 💕

Madison, your videos are so real and I love how you continue to create a safe space for all of your subscribers. Your Instagram, TikTok and TH-cam get me through each week! I also struggle with anxiety and I'm so happy that you are so open and real with your experiences because it makes me feel like I'm not alone. I'm an education major in the Cincinnati tri-state area and I start my first field experience on Monday in a 2nd grade classroom. If you have any advice I would love to hear it! I made it to the end of your video, and quite frankly I make it to the end of every video and then scroll through your channel to find another video to watch! I love your content so much and am so excited to see what the future holds for you, with the move, social media and teaching!

Same, girl. Anxiety and depression comes in both big and small waves for me, and it’s definitely tough when you’re standing up in front of a room of 30 kids. I think you’re very authentic and wholesome! Thank you for sharing your story.

Your strength to share your story is inspiring. I feel that creeping anxiety so often. As a second grade teacher in the STL area I can relate to those daily struggles and how even though you are not worried about anything, the anxiety still finds its way in. Thank you for sharing your story because sometimes knowing you aren’t alone in the struggle is the best medicine.

Made it to the end ❤ I just want to say that you are an inspiration to so many of us, including this 33 year old mom who is in her first year of teaching! I am taking the alternative route of getting my certification through Texas Teachers of Tomorrow while teaching 1st and 2nd grade! I totally relate to your anxiety. I have the heart for teaching and taking this job with no background education (my degree is in history) I had SO MUCH ANXIETY! My first 2 months of teaching I was waking up at 4 am to be at school by 5 am to make sure what I was doing. I LOVE education, I believe in it and it's one of the most important jobs in the world (we are teaching our future generation and leaders ❤) so I had to be sure that I knew what I was doing. But I love coming to your channel because I love your perspective and personality and you just make me feel better about being a teacher and I appreciate clogs like this where you are so real. You are amazing and you are doing great things and never forget that. It takes a very strong person to be a teacher and persevere through these hard times. You are in my prayers girl ❤

As someone who is currently 17 and has always wanted to go into teaching this makes me feel so happy that you’ve managed to teach as that is one of my biggest worries was not being a good enough teachers for kids but you are living proof you can still be an amazing teacher with it. Thank you for showing me as a teacher I can truly thrive even with my bad days. Your videos are amazing thank you so much I’ve really needed this recently

So awesome for you to share! My 17 year old daughter and I recently started watching you because she wants to be a teacher. However, she actually struggles with severe anxiety (no trauma) just her….but it’s so real! She homeschools with me due to it. I’m trying to help her work through it so she can live her best life…but honestly idk if teaching will be the best thing for her! 🥰

    • @amandabarajas4419

Maybe she can specialize in a certain area of teaching so she’ll still teach but instead of having a classroom of 15-30 students she can be more focused on a smaller group of kids or even maybe just 1 student at a time so she can still do what she loves like becoming a teacher but without all the anxiety.

I always watch your videos to the end🤍 I would love to know more about your experience being on medication, I often get scared of medication and hope to find relief in other forms..mediation, exercise, etc. I really think meditation has helped me and also sparking your senses when you start to feel your mind filling up sometimes helps. Like eating a sour candy or turning on a podcast! Good luck on your journey, I’m here for you 💓

I'm an aspiring elementary teacher, I currently attending Kansas State. Over the past year or so I've struggled with severe ptsd from my job being active military. I've been so scared to continue pursing my dream because I'm terrified of having a panic attack in front of my future kiddos. While it's not quite the same, it's so comforting to know that the teacher I look up to the most also has anxiety but pushes through for your students! I would love to see you talk more about your anxiety, I know it's a hard topic but it really encourages people like myself to keep going!

So interesting hearing about US Covid-school situation. The policy in the UK was if a class had too many cases, the class had to shut, to prevent the spread. Law has changed since though. Staff are encouraged to wear masks when leaving their class and seeing other staff to keep classes as « bubbles », protected from the risk of mixing. Children in primary (elementary) are not required to wear them at all. We currently have very high staff absences, but luckily no classes have had to shut due to being unable to run. Supply agencies aren’t able to provide substitutes at the moment because of how high the demand is!

I've been on anxiety medication for 8 years....started at 19, right after freshman year of college. I had an anxiety attack in Walmart (of all places....I was super embarrassed). I thought I'd be fine without medication (which some people are!). Needless to say, that didn't last very long. Without the medication, my chest is tight and my perspective is blurred. It makes a difference, in me personally!

No breaks here! We have TWD tomorrow (Friday) and full weeks to come! Our next day off is February 21 for Presidents’ Day! The teacher burn out is real…

I feel you 100%! I took anxiety meds for years and recently stopped and now it’s baaaccckkk! Lol I’m trying to learn ways to cope without meds but it’s definitely hard! 😩

Here in California in the Central Valley we have fog days so if the fog is super thick school is canceled. So this year alone we have 2 days to make up.

I’m a co-struggler with anxiety and started to wonder about the connection between teachers and anxiety

I struggled with anxiety for like a year or two and I fought it with meditation the panic attacks were rough cause I knew when they were coming but once I started meditating it started fading away and went away

I've struggled with anxiety and depression since freshman year of high school. I'm twenty now and I'm not on medication for it currently but, college makes me thinking about going on medication again.

I’ve taught for 30 years. I’ve never been allowed to wear any color jeans. I’ve never been allowed to eat lunch on my own. We have to eat with our class. I’ve never been allowed to be seen eating with the kids in the room. We were also told that we couldn’t video in our rooms for personal use. You must work at a pretty good system. We are micromanaged like kids here.

I want to get off my anxiety meds so bad but am scared that I’m just going to end up back on them. I don’t think I have the resources yet to take that leap…
