I'm the one that posted this. There were 1,600 people there - it was a sold out theater - best in Denver in my opinion. (Great views and great sound quality) As for Elize, she sounded pretty good actually (iPhones can only do so much.) BUT she had one hour to learn the songs (hence the screw ups) and you could tell she was nervous. AND they did give money back to anyone who asked (paper said next day less than 10 out of 1600 did so.)
It was an awesome job done by Elize and Alissa. Who says humanity is dead. Mid finger to them. :D. #It is not about how good or bad they performed# True artists.
Elize Ryd is rather special. You put her in any context and she fits. Put her on stage with songs she haven't sung before and she does it well. She is truly a talent among the rarest.
You know, I feel for her. I've been called to do something last minute like this before. No rehearsal, lyrics in my hands the whole time, and having to make up notes when I didn't know them. Yep! Happens at least once or twice to everyone who says "hey! I can sing!"
Always remember this incredible act of braveness, kindness and helpfulness for which I would have kissed Elize, was the thing that made Anette so mad that she wasn't asked. To this day. I cannot understand why she needed to be asked, or why she thought the people on her blog would sympathise with her instead of being happy the concert happened. THIS BLOG post made them fire her and hire Floor on the spot. Just like noone wanted a cancelled concert, noone wanted a cancelled tour. After that she said she could have done all shows except 7 in Australia, while in another interview she whines how worried she was about her baby while in hospital... while nobody forces her to play and she is IN hospital. Makes me wonder how she thought of doing South America. (Which I'm 100% sure, she never intended to do) AND I GET that the tour was a huge deal for her, but how can this last minute concert be anything, ANYTHING that she needed to be asked for? But, hey thanks to Elize we got Floor much earlier.
The best thing about this performance is that you can see they already made peace with the fact that it's gonna be a rough show, so they are actually enjoying themselves, trying to make the best of it.
I was there! It was my sisters first concert and she really likes Nightwish, we both found out about Amaranthe this way. Now Elize is one of my favorite vocalists!
I love that after the bridge when Elize hit tried to hit the high note that the crowd cheered even though she didnt do the best job of it, that shows how dedicated NW fans are.

This was a really good show of "sportmanship" on Elize and Alissas behalf. They could have begged off and no-one would have thought less of them be cause of it. Instead they comes to the rescue of a band in a crisis. I am in so much awe of them. Elize and Alissa, I salute you
Over the hills was kind of a fail on Elizes' side but I love it nevertheless, wish I was there, looks like over an average fun level :D Marco saved the day ^.^

I was at this show! Elize may not have been as polished as Anette, but she showed GIGANTIC brass balls for stepping up the way she did. Incidentally, before the show started, Tuomas and Troy came out on stage, and Troy explained to us what had happened to Anette, and gave US the option: cancel the show, or give it a whirl with Elize. We OVERWHELMINGLY voted: The show must go on! And somehow, SOMEHOW, the band found magic and made it work.
This was an incredible show! Elize did a wonderful job singing the songs she could, and Marco filling in all the other parts. Truly a spectacular show. I saw them again the next night in SLC, with Annette, which was also a phenomenal show! It was great to see both performances from two such amazing singers! Love Nightwish!!!
Im so proud of that girl singing! Elize was amazing and showed her professionality. I have a huge respect towards this band and once again they proved that their band is bigger, greater and stronger than ever. Long live Nightwish! I hope Anette will get well soon.
This night would've been heaven on earth for me! I'm so sad that I couldn't be there! :( My favourite bands are Amaranthe and Kamelot and I like Nightwish, too - so I would've seen and heard as much of Elize as I could take...so sad that I couldn't be there... :( I love Elize, she's so sweet and has an awesome voice. Wonderful of her that she filled in for Anette. :)
Great job by true professionals! Amazing performance by Elize Ryd considering that she was reading the lyrics from a sheet. Best wishes for a quick recovery for Anette. She was wonderful in Chicago on the 24th.
Many people don't like Tarja or Anette and many will never like the "next singer or singers" but still people show little respect please! NIGHTWISH IS AN AWESOME BAND AND THE SHOW MUST GO ON!

It was not only a good job They've done there , I think this is absolutely fantastic . Elize voice is amazing compared with Anettes and she fits in very good . But what I'm most impressed of is what the band has done ! At least 99% of the bands I know would have cancelled the show but look what Nightwish did , absolutely fantastic . But I hope Anette gets well soon ! Thanks for uploading !

I hope people dissing Elize Ryd realize the only reason she was filling in was because she was on tour with Kamelot who was on tour with Nightwish. Considering she was also asked the night before to fill in must have been also a huge challenge for Elize Ryd considering this isn't her typical stye of singing, but her contribution to filling in made the show go on.....
Yeah, amazing job, very thankful they played the show. I'm pretty sure she was backstage learning the last couple songs when they had Marco doing all the vocals.
I don't understand the rude comments towards Anette. She's a great singer. If you didn't like Nightwish with her, it's not her fault. Nightwish is made of every member of the band, not only a singer-

They were lucky to have 2 capable replacements. Floor's also a friend of the band. That's what I call UNITY! Hope Anette recovers and finds success wherever she continues.
This was such an incredible night!!! I adore Elize, her voice (and everything about her) is perfect!!! Now this year, I have seen Nightwish with Anette, Elize and Floor :-) Anette was never right for the band and always struggled live.
A stroke of luck to have this lady present. Unlike many other long-term oldschool Nightwish fans, I rather liked Anette. I have to admit, if they stick with Floor after the rest of the tour, that would be fucking amazing.
Anette has posted on her blog that she had gone to the ER the night before and was on some medication, but that she got sick again around 7:00 p.m. and the hospital advised her to go back there rather than do the show. They couldn't tell what was wrong for sure though and suggested she might have the flu or too much stress.

I'm a huge fan of Anette and the music they've done with her and I have huge respect for her, especially considering her juggling family life, recording, touring and all that... I wouldn't have minded buying another album with Anette and I wish her only the best for the future. I think Floor Jansen is the perfect choice as her temporary replacement, as she can sing EVERYTHING and has a great voice. Actually, since Tarja's departure I've always hoped for Floor to fill in for good. Let's see. :)
I actually enjoyed it. A lot of mistakes, but it takes a lot to go on and Elize is a great entertainer either way. I went to a different band a few weeks ago. 2 songs in the singer fell over a pre-amp, tore her knee up and had to go to the hospital immediately. The band stopped the show and we all went home.....I would have much rather had some other singer come up and try to carry on. Not like these bands come to the US all that often or can reschedule the show.
Wow... That's the best I've heard nemo done since tarja got the boot. And with very little prep time. Amazing! I liked Annette but nemo was always one of those songs I thought she butchered...
In the intervening 7 months since I posted that comment :D I've decided that I don't exactly hate Elize anymore. The only thing that pisses me off is people saying she's better than Anette. They're totally different singers.
Oh, cmon, Elize's the best :D The way she sings could easily put any other girl to bed with a sore throat in minutes. The power in that voice could never be reached with an "opera" voice
I love Elize very much! Normaly I don´t like the newest songst from nightwish, cause they sound extremly mainstream and so popish - not really like good symphonic metal. But Elize and Alissa, too does a very good job. She has a very good stage brilliance as well! I can´t imagine that Nighwish will took Floor jansen as apermanent member. Floor does much bette with reVamp or mayan, cause this is harder and fits her much better but hey great choice for taking over for a few shows :)

I saw them in KC Thursday night. They were pretty incredible there but I could sorta tell Anette was having issues with something. She seemed out of breath in-between the songs. I hope she gets better. Elise is pretty freaking incredible though. I hope to hear her more of her with Kamelot.

I understand where you're coming from-- most symphonic metal has opera singers, and obviously Anette isn't an opera singer. So I guess Nightwish became something other than symphonic metal when she joined. And it's a matter of opinion whether the "something" was good or bad. At least you can state your opinion without swearing at me :)

Bravest damn thing I've seen in 20 years of concerts. Still one of the coolest shows I ever went to. I'm so glad I was there for this show.

probably not, she is recording the second album from Revamp, so I think probably she don't stay in nightwish :(
I'm seeing them in slc tonight. I heard annette feels better but if they need to improvise again, I'm cool with it.

I understand where you're coming from-- most symphonic metal has opera singers, and obviously Anette isn't an opera singer. So I guess Nightwish became something other than symphonic metal when she joined. And it's a matter of opinion whether the "something" was good or bad.
At least you can state your opinion without swearing at me :)
