    I have two Astro lights with charging station. One I have had for about 2 years and the other I have had for a little under two years. I use them daily and at times all day. The color is not noticeable and I think it just might help by not reflecting back as bad. I rarely use full brightness and have found the double light bar mostly useless. The switches are a bit aggravating do to them being multi function but they haven't warn any that I notice. If I use the light at about 50-75% brightness which seems plenty for me I don't have any problems of battery run down but I do have a habit of switching off if I don't need it for a bit. At this point I don't notice any reduction in battery run time do to age or use like I did with several other previous lights. I also find the end light handy at times. I am a marine mechanic so water is everywhere and I have dropped it in bilges with standing water with no ill effects but I am quick to retrieve it. My only quality issue is the light bar detent has gotten weak on the original light but does work and as I said I use them daily. I hope they don't drastically change the light or try to make it cheaper because it will need replacement some day and I like what it is now. When I do replace them I will buy the single sided one just because I found the double not to be of any advantage to me. I normally don't praise anything this much but after trying several (5) different battery work lights this fits the bill.

    The Astro 52SL has a weak magnet. I accidentally bumped the 52SL causing it to fall in a coolant catch pan. I have owned 3 different Astro lights and have been disappointed with their longevity reason why I recently purchased the Streamlight Stinger.

    I use the Astro work lights in my field, broadcast television. I have two units with the magnetic wireless charger. It's pretty close to perfect for wiring and diagnosing equipment in the back of equipment racks. I like that it has a plastic hanging hook, as I do not want to short out and damage any electronics accidentally with any conducting metal on my trouble-lamp. And thanks for the reminder about the side magnet in the Astro. In tight spaces this is a big help. The wireless charger is awesome.

      Just asking: why don't you use a headlamp for equipment racks?

    • @jw6825
      @jw6825 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@vartikcsaba Lots of reasons. Equipment racks in broadcast are deep and dark. To install cabling. To trace where a cable is connected when troubleshooting a signal path issue. To look up the serial number on a piece of equipment...finding the head on a tiny screw to remove a backplate, etc. During a recent installation project, these lights were used every day.

    I have a couple flip lights like that at work and I don’t really like them. I find them to be in the way and get knocked off all the time because they are so long. I prefer shorter lights that rotate. Stuff like the snap on,astro 70sl and maxxeon cyclops. They are just as bright but much much shorter so your not knocking the shorter style off all the time. Plus if you need to get in a tight area like under the car or in the wheel well area they will work much better.

    Astro has a couple other cool lights too. The cheaper smaller 40huvl and the 70sl which is a short light that rotates 360°.

    I have had the Astro double sided light for 3 years. I had a lot of different lights prior to Astro and they all failed in durability and design. I am a boat mechanic and my lights get treated pretty rough and daily. I don't do very much without a light. It's not water proof but I have dropped it into bilge water several times for very short periods and never any signs of water in the lens or shaking out of the body. For me, full bright is too bright so I turn it down as much as half way and that allows the battery to last all day although I do try to turn it off when It's not needed for a while. The detentes have gotten a little weak and the rubber wore off the magnet on the bottom and it came out but I glued it back in with 3M 5200 fast cure. It is available in double and single side light. There are other similar Astro lights but the design on this video is what I am referring to. When I replace it I will buy the single because frankly the double is blinding and i have used it once. I grew up using incandescent drop lights that I still have burn scars from and have seen them destroy interiors even with 40W bulbs. Then came florescent which was better but still presented problems. The LED battery stick lights are the best since Edison. I also carry a Streamlight Stinger classic. The real classic non LED that in 15 years I have replaced the battery 3 times, the switch once, the reflector once, the bulb 3-4 times, and the lens twice. This is in my pocket every work day and the knurling on the body is about warn off. If the this is any indication of the toughness of the switch Blade then it should last a long time. 3 years ago I weighed the two of these lights against each other and chose the Astro because of the extra rotation of the light stick and the double side light that I thought might be handy. I bought a second Astro about 6 months later with the wireless charger. I am very satisfied considering my expectation was about a year and a half based on other lights I have had but the life has doubled that. One suggestion if for these lights. Because I work on boats with aluminum out board engines and only a steel flywheel, fiberglass or aluminum hulls but cast iron inboard and stern drive engines I would suggest a steel plate 1/8"-1-4" thick and 4"-5" square as a base or a counter weight. Counter weight works good for laying the light down and allowing the light stick to over hang. I also used an old camera tripod with a steel plate glued to the camera mount for an adjustable light stand. Had the tripod for years and never used it with the VHS camera.

    Just recently somehow lost my Stinger Switchblade worklight. This is hands down the best light on the market durable, very bright, strong magnet & almost 4 hours of light. I will be buying another Stinger its worth the extra money had this light for over 5 years.

    The Stinger does has a dimming function. You hold down the on / off switch for a few seconds.

    Seen several reviews where the Astro is used by professional mechanics, and mechanics with boxes full of snap on and Matco tools….that speaks loudly to me. I got a set ordered and some snap on as well.
