It wasn't horribly unsuccessful, it was selling pretty well actually. BAe joined the AI(R) consortium where it stepped on the ATR42's toes a little and then BAe decided they wanted out of the civilian aircraft market altogether, so it wasn't actually produced all that long. If they were so bad Eastern wouldn't have over 20 of them.
What part of "the Jetstream 41 still maintains one of the best safety records of any aircraft model and type flying today" did you not understand?! There's nothing wrong with the J41 at all. Any aircraft can be involved in an accident from time to time just like a car. Doesn't make it a bad or an unsafe aircraft - there are hundreds in service around the world and ONE has crashed!
