Appreciate the biography, I'm from Dumfries myself and wanted to refresh my memory on this episode as I haven't heard it since I was in school a long time ago. Shout out to Mr McGair from Standard Grade History! 😄
My 5X Great-Grandmother was Anna Comyn, who married Alexander Leal of Forres. Alexander was baptized in Dyke Parish and he married Anna and had his children baptized in Edinkillie parish. I'm unable to determine who Anna's parents were. Alexander and Anna left Scotland in 1773 and ended up in Delaware County, NY.
My family are defendant from the McCauley clan. Scottish history fascinates me to no end. What sources do you have for the John Comyn camp that tells their side of the story involving the killing of John by Robert?
I don't quote anything from the Comyn 'camp', as such, just proper academic history with references and extensive bibliographies etc. I recommend anything by Fiona Watson, Michael Brown, AAM Duncan, Séan Duffy and Michael Prestwich, for starters.
My ancestor. The Bruce's offered us land to let them have the crown. Thats why they met in the church. We were then slaughtered in cold blood. The bruce family aswell as the church are responsible for the downfall of our family and name.

Thanks for the interesting video. Obviously my surname is Cumming which is modern day spelling and im Scottish born in Edinburgh 😊
