Oi mate do you have a license for that knife
When is part 2 due to come out? I want some good news about Scotland with England for a change 😂🤣😅
I like these videos, but its too bad accurate depictions of the carnage and horror of war can't be shown due to TH-cam demonetization.
Are there any other examples of rampart-mooning ever occuring?
Spat my drink out at @7:50
A defender bared his bum to the king HAHA I can imagine a pompous English king being all offended that his 'subjects' would humiliate him.
I think i read one account of Khosrow I sacking Antioch or during the Antioch campaign where the defenders jeered and mooned him, i imagine it's happened several times in history, its a universal gesture and the hilarity you would cause among your comrades would sure be a morale boost, not with wooden ramparts though!
@@Condoctuc If I was a king I'd be laughing my arse off at the baw-bag on someone who dared moon a royal. I'd probably spare that person if they were captured and make them court jester xD
Finally someone does a series on the Scottish wars of independence
They go and sort out their country and all the Scots do is froth at the maw and throw bricks at them. There's no gratitude!
Embrace Historia did videos on The Scottish Wars of Independence.
Embrace historia did a great series of this! I highly recommend it.
Darth, is Serbian video, tnx
What independence? Please rejoin the EU!❤️
Btw, both Balliol and Bruce were Normans whose families arrived in Britain in 1066
Edward I was a very dangerous opponent to try and fight. He was a very good capable soldier with A LOT of experience as well as a capable ruler as well.
Longshanks was an absolute G, last English king to crusade in Outremer
@@TheOldBlackShuckyDogHis son was a fanny for not taking his heart onto Jerusalem.
Edward was the pope's favourite to lead another Crusade in the Holy land,
But (we) unfortunately kept him too busy up here.
My favourite part of Scottish history I'm so glad they're doing a series on the wars of independence. Looking forward to the battle of Stirling Bridge and Hugh de Cressingham getting turned into a wallet.
⚔
@TheWoodIsPoo the best songs are about heroes, kings and saints and their counterparts not about your stupid love life
A sword carrier actually, but your point still stands.
LIMMY!!!
*Scotsman wakes up*
*sees romans*
*Walks up*
"What's goin' on here like?"
*beheaded*
It's unlikely that actually happened. You don't have much respect for history if you so readily believe such things.
Hoping to see Andrew de murray get a mention in this video Wallace is a hero and all but gets too much recognition since he fought in the lowlands. meanwhile de murray fought a very successful campaign in the North. He and Wallace combined forces and was the main tactician in planning the battle of Stirling Bridge and became guardian of Scotland with Wallace but died of wounds soon after.
I'm sure he'll mention him. Mental that Murray just doesn't exist in Braveheart 😂
^This
I've been a fan for a while now and I've always admired the insane production quality but the art in this one? just a perfect blend of imagery, story telling, and well-researched, well presented history. Literally my favorite history content.
Check of History Dose if you like the art
Yeah, what Liam said
Yeah, what Liam said
The "funny" chat bubbles ruined it for me otherwise I would agree
Truly wonderful era we live in. We are in the library of Alexandria here on TH-cam. People like you are a blessing.
I'm studying this period of history at Uni right now so good timing with the series 👍 found your channel from the Bannockburn vid a few days ago
Welcome aboard! This will be a 4-part series. Stirling coming up, as well as Falkirk and Loudoun Hill
@@HistoryMarche looking forward to them!
@@HistoryMarche Just as bit of advice for your future videos. Don’t big up Loudoun Hill as much as people have done. There is little evidence that the English suffered many casualties at all and it is even possible that the battle was just a standoff instead of an actual battle.
Keep up the amazing videos 👍
@@manatarms7652 Do you have any sources please?
@@austrelien298 Sure thing. There is currently only one contemporary source of the battle which is from an anonymous English courtier who was with Edward 1 in Carlisle who simply stated: ‘the guardian of Scotland [Aymer de Valence] and the other folk retreated before King Hobbe [a mocking nickname for Bruce] without doing any exploit”. This implies there was either a standoff or small skirmish/battle. To be fair, it was most likely the latter as several near-contemporary sources mention an engagement but give no details. The only detailed account of the “battle” was by John Barbour, a Bruce propagandist and proven liar who seems to have tried to mirror his description with the battle of Methven in order to give Bruce a character arc.
I love the new POV's for the troops on the ground, really makes it more immersive and cool.
Production quality over the last year had gotten amazing. Great job, everyone involved..
p.s. best voice on TH-cam by far.
BY FAR
I love this period, and the preceding centuries of history of the borders and how complex the loyalties were. My ancestors were Earls of Dunbar but just prior to the battle, Robert’s son Johannes had come south and this/my part of the family eventually ended up in Kent.
Much better than k&g in every way, thanks for a greatly produced video!
Yass a series on the Scottish Wars of Independence!! Excited for when Robert The Bruce gets introduced!
I wish the voice over artist could just follow me around while narrating what I was doing.
Awesome content as always!
Wow - I am really amazed by the constant jumps in quality. The art in this moving? The little fun facts? Man does it make you feel like you're there! You guys rock! Keep it up!
I love history in general but THIS is what I've been most exited for for a while! Thank you!!!
Excellent production, as per usual!
excellent as usual, i work in dunbar and the places you mentioned really brought it home.
7:53 - "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" reference FTW xD.
You’re visuals are getting really nice, good work and good storytelling, too.

Yeah that's right i guess
@Alice Carroll Yeah I think so that's why i got my mind off government issues ............. the only thing on my mind is how to make bigger with my trader Expect Sandra cause trading with her got me off government stress
What that has to do with “The Battle of Dunbar”, is a mystery to me.

In school i learnt story of Robert Bruce and a Spider ! 🇧🇩
Sadly, it never happened. The story of the spider was the brainchild of Sir Walter Scot.
14:10 I am amused by the idea that England could "return" an English throne to Scotland in 1996. Bear in mind, the person who did the "returning" was the Queen of Great Britain, the unified Crowns of Scotland and England, so she was technically returning her own chair to herself! One must love some of the quirky legalities that exist in monarchical systems.
You know that, but I’ll say it nonetheless. From the Queen perspective, indeed, it may look just like moving the furniture around; but the key here is not the person, but the place.
@@prsancho Indeed, one can tell how much it warms the hearts of some Scots to think the Stone of Destiny is within traditional Scottish borders again.
On the other hand, one could argue that the Stone of Destiny actually already was back on "Scottish soil" even before 1996. When James VI, the crowned King of Scotland, took possession of his English properties, which included the throne and the land it was on, it could be said that Scotland "owned" England, making all English land Scottish land, at least until the Act of Union formally redefined both kingdoms as two parts of one kingdom, sort of...
@@genericpersonx333 counterpoint: it couldn't be said Scotland "owned" England, and that makes no sense in the Stone not having been stolen by a technicality
When I give alot of extra peices of information in history class thanks too you I'm always known as the smartest student in history class, in my whole grade again thanks too u ❤❤❤❤
Glad the videos helped. Thanks for watching dude
It's beautiful!
Love longshanks what a guy 🏴🏴
Got chills when William Wallace popped up and im english! great job as always!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Freedom!!!! 😂😂😂😁😁😁
I heard that William Walace is seven-foot tall. Shoots lightening from his eyes and balls of fire from his arse.
Believe that's what most English felt before he put them to the blade
@@TheColombiano89 haaha
Can you do a video on Babak Khorramdin. A Persian rebel who fought against the Arab Caliphate and ended up being tortured and executed. Similar to William Wallace
Fantastic
Thank you so much 😀
Just Love the new graphic scenes,
A noble sacrifice to the algorithm for thee.
history marche and kings and generals are the best!
Great video.
That is all.
I'm faster than the mongols when I see a new video
Yes, very excited for this topic... Being from Scotland:)

Literally it would be so cool 😎 if you were my history teacher.
thank you so much!!! more scottish medieval history pleaseeee:))))))))))
They're doing a 4 part series
Scotland the brave. Proud of my Scottish heritage
Although not very brave in this vid
You are a conquered people to this day.
@@TheColombiano89 hardly, the first king of both Scotland and England was Scottish upon the union of the crowns
That's the most American thing I've ever heard
@@TheColombiano89 you can still be brave in staving off invasion of a much larger force for centuries
Nice, I did not know about the first war 😁
I like your voice. It fits history video's somehow.
