I bought this watch three months ago as a present to myself for my upcoming birthday. I can honestly say that I love it more all the time. Anytime of day check your phone and it’s exactly correct. The functionality of this watch is impressive. Great review on this fabulous citizen watch and you made it very clear how to operate the functions. The red arrows version which is essentially the same model costs around £599 in Uk
Thanks Big "E"... This is the second of your video's I've seen. Great job visually and packed with information - not everybody has your skillset to keeping things simple yet complete! That they made the chronograph function simple is great, and with a 48mm bezel, that logarithmic slide rule just might be big enough for my eyes to see the numbers for all the conversion math I end up doing. I've heard the bezel does not click, but that seems to be a minor complaint. I'm trying to think of what they didn't pack into this watch. The black in the video almost looks like it has a slightly bronze tint, and with the green, its a nice combo. The full stainless version imho has just too much in terms of color contrasts and is a bit too bold for my taste. Thanks a bunch, you sold me :)
Very very impressed very nice watch I love it personally I can’t believe all the functionality that you get out of it and that look of it I’m very very impressed to say the least!
Thank you so much for this review. I couldn't figure out how to change my watch ( I have the blue one) to daylight savings time. The online manuel doesn't cover that at all. In fact it's practically useless. In the future any information I need, I'll pull up this video. Thanks again!
Due to an Eco watch I sent in for a battery replacement (and can't be done), they are offering me 50% off a replacement watch. I am looking at this one. Being a pilot I think it's kind of cool. Since this review is over a year old, how is the finish holding up? Does it show wear? I can get it delivered for less than $400. Thanks for the review!
Hello, i just ordered this watch and expect to receive it on monday, how difficult is it to set all the functions, could you maybe upload another video explaining it more in detail, thank you and i love your videos.
Is the crown supposed to actually lock once back at the inner position? As if it does twist to lock I can’t work out how to do it at all? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
With the H804 movement (I am getting the Promaster Navihawk A-T Green / AT8227-56X), is it possible to set DST to Manual for just a single time zone? I live in Arizona, which doesn't observe DST, but I frequently travel to the east and west coasts of the USA. So, what I want is to have DST Automatic for: HNL, ANC, LAX, CHI, and NYC - but have DST Manual for DEN. Anyone know if that is possible? The manual uses a double asterisks and says "For a city indicated by * *, the daylight saving time indication and the standard time indication are linked together" and the * * cities are: ANC, LAX, DEN, CHI, and NYC. I interpret the manual's language as meaning that there is only one common setting of manual (DST off) or Automatic (DST on/off based on data in the most recent radio time sync) for those 5 cities. But the language isn't particularly clear. It could also mean that setting DST = manual immediately also sets DST off; but every city still gets its own individual setting for DST manual or automatic. I suppose I'll find out when I get the watch. But if I'm right and there is only one setting for that group of 5 cities, I guess what I'll have to do is set DST to manual & off when I'm home in Arizona (bottom of page 29 in the AT8227-56X manual). Then if I travel to California or Maryland, when my plane lands I have to pull the crown out 1 click, set the new time zone (I'd have to do this anyway); but then while the crown is out 1 click, I'll also have to press and hold the lower right button for 2 seconds to switch from DST manual (bottom sub-dial down) to DST auto (bottom sub-dial up). Then when I fly home I'll have to do the process backwards: set the time zone to DEN and turn DST back to manual & off. Curious if anyone else has had to deal with this?
@Sylvester The world time feature actually works better than what the manual says (must be a lousy Japanese to English translation). It lets me set DST (or SMT, as Citizen calls it) to automatic/manual mode individually for every time zone; and it lets me set DST on/off for every time zone. So, as I live in AZ where DST isn't observed, I pull the crown out 1 click, set the time zone to DEN (as indicated by the second hand), set DST to 'MANUAL' (bottom sub-dial pointing down), and DST to 'OFF' (upper sub-dial pointing to 'OFF'). Then for HNL, ANC, LAX, CHI, & NYC I just set DST to 'AUTO' (bottom sub-dial pointing up). I recently confirmed this all worked the way I want it to when USA switched over to DST on 13 March 2022. On 12 March, I would pull the crown out 1 click and switch from the DEN to LAX time zone setting. The watch hands would move CCW by 1 hour because LA is 1 hour behind AZ during standard time. The upper and lower sub-dials don't switch to indicate the settings in the new time zone until after the time hands are done moving. Then, on 14 March 2022, I did the same thing, pulled the crown out and switched from DEN to LAX. The time hands didn't move at all, because during DST, AZ and LA are the same time! But the lower sub-dial switched from down/'DST Manual' (the DEN setting) to up/'DST AUTO' (the LAX setting) and the upper sub-dial switched from 'DST OFF' (which I set manually for DEN) to 'DST ON' (which was set via the radio signal from CO for LAX). WAY COOL! and perfect for my needs. I have no idea what the manual meant by "For a city indicated by * *, the daylight saving time indication and the standard time indication are linked together". Neither of my original hypotheses panned out after I received my AT8227-56X. Citizen should just delete that language as it is very confusing and, frankly (I think), wrong. The 56X definitely lets me set individual time zones as either DST AUTO/MANUAL and DST ON/OFF. In fact, I just tried setting the LAX time zone to DST AUTO and DST OFF, even though it is 20 March 2022 and DST should be ON. When I initially made the DST OFF setting selection (but left LAX in 'DST AUTO' mode), the watch turned back an hour. But then I did an "On-Demand Reception" and the watch corrected my mis-setting of DST to off for LAX. Because the LAX time zone was in DST AUTO mode, the watch switched back to DST on as soon as it got a signal update from the CO radio station. Cool. I keep my watch in a kitchen drawer in the middle of the house at night and I've had about 3/5 nights where I get a signal update. Since the watch doesn't drift any appreciable amount of time over 2-3 days, that's a perfectly acceptable signal reception rate for me. On-demand signal reception seems very location dependent. I've had the best luck with a south-facing window so far, but haven't experimented very much with the On-Demand signal reception. Don't see the need unless I am experimenting to figure out what the manual should have said. All very interesting stuff. Might be a moot point soon though, as the US Senate just passed a bill to put all of USA onto permanent DST. Over to the HoR to see what their take is. Personally, I'd rather see USA on permanent Standard Time, but in principle we should stop switching around twice per year. AZ's got it figured out on that front! But at USG speeds, we probably have another 10+ years of DST swaps to concern ourselves with.
There are no dumb questions but thank you for asking I believe the information is on citizens website I truly forgot myself but I'll look into it for you.
@@EricSloferwatchreviews Thank you..I looked all over can't seem to find anything as well..?ugh.. What I wanted to know? If the other bars becomes highlighted yellow like the one same at bottom? Basically how do I know when watch in fully charged?
@@EricSloferwatchreviews hi great review. The battery indicator points to 12 when fully charged and doesn't change colour if the charge becomes low. The segment highlighted in yellow just means it's in a very low state before the watch stops working. I have the red arrows version which is essentially the same model but with red segments rather than yellow. I hope this was helpful. Kind regards. Brian

It's a circular slide rule. The weird part about this watch's slide rule is that the critical location isn't at the 12:00 position. For some strange reason, Citizen put the critical "10" marking of the fixed inner green dial at the 13-minute position. Very Strange. Anyway, to calculate a tip: Suppose you are at a restaurant and you have a $77.13 bill and you want to leave a 17% tip. First, turn the knob on the lower left (8:00-position) of this AT8227-56X until the '77' (as in ~$77 bill) marking on the outer black ring is aligned with the '10' on the fixed inner green ring. Then, (without rotating anything) find the '17' (as in 17% tip) marking on the fixed inner green ring and see what it lines up with on the outer black ring. In this example, you will find that it lines up with roughly the 13.1 line on the outer black ring. You'd leave a tip of $13.10. If you took a calculator and multiplied $77.13 x 0.17, you'd get a result of 13.1121 (or $13.11). So this slide rule only gives you about 3 digits of accuracy. The 4th digit would require a better slide rule (or a digital calculator; or some 4rd grade, back-of-the-napkin hand calculations). If you wanted to give a 21% tip, you'd find the '21' on the inner green ring (as opposed to the '17') and see what it lines up with on the outer back ring. My eye on this slide rule (for this ~$77 example) gives me $16.15, and a digital calculator gives $16.20. Similarly, suppose you have a smaller bill, say ~$29. You spin the 8:00 knob until 29 on the black ring lines up with the 10 on the green ring. Then look for the tip % you're after on the green ring. Say it's 17% again - the 17 on the green ring lines up with the 49 on the black ring. Here, you must apply some common sense. Clearly, you aren't tipping $49 on a $29 bill. $4.90 makes a lot more sense. And $29 * 0.17 = $4.93. And so on and so fourth...
