    Hi lovely people! We found a lot of comments in previous videos on essential oils and thought we address it in this video.
    We want to make it clear that we do acknowledge that EOs can be irritating to the skin depending on the type and what percentage they're used, but not everything is as black and white as it seems. There are studies out there that also talk about EOs that are beneficial due to their antimicrobial and antibacterial abilities (and as a reminder, we have a list of the sources we used in the description box.) What we also found out is that the EU and Korean cosmetic regulations are very strict with what is added into the product. Chances are that the products you see on the shelves are approved by these regulations.
    At the end of the day, we don't aim to "shame" anyone for using products containing essential oils or highly discourage anyone from doing so because skincare is so personal. What works for one person may not necessarily work for another, even if you share the same skin types. So we really want to encourage you to try products for yourselves and test to see what works and what doesn't work for you.
    Hope this clears things up for you! As always, thank you so much for your amazing support! We love you guys! 😘😘

      I was way into topical usage but quickly realized there is a "topical usage dosage".

    I tested gram flour as facewash, but it rather lead to skin rash. As a result, later, I started using littleextraa riceberry face wash, and trust me, my skin has greatly improved from this and got healthier than how it was... pimples lessened, scars and marks faded, pore size reduced a lot, and skin has become brighter and smoother, and I am receiving compliments from people these days.

      This riceberry facewash is excellent for achieving glowing skin. It is enriched with the benefits of black rice and white mulberry, which keeps our skin soft and hydrated. It also helps in hiding dark spots and pigmentation. It is additionally paraben-free. I strongly suggest after using it for 3 months.

      YESSSS we agree 100% with this! 🙏😍Feeling comfortable and confident truly stems from within, and for some it takes time to get there. We're all going through our own experiences and learning from them each day, and even if we can understand more about ourselves through each process, like with skincare, that is the ultimate goal and we can all get there! I would say that La Roche Posay’s Gentle Hydrating Cleanser has become my HG cleanser over the past year or so. My sensitive combo skin has seemed to “normalize” over the past few years using chemical exfoliants, and LRP cleanser cleanses my skin without any stripping or irritation. Before LRP, I swore by Aveeno’s Ulta Calming Cleanser (both the foaming and the gel) when I was more combo/acne-prone. Love this channel and how informative it is! You girls clearly do your homework, which I love and appreciate. Keep up the hard work girls! Much love and light.

It has hyaluronic acid in it, but it’s still very light and the hyaluronic acid is listed more towards the middle so it’s not so much it’s drying but just enough my face feels clean after wards. This also has 3 essential ceramides in which I have noticed since started using has helped calm my skin in areas that tended to be red

    I always thought that it was weird that both CeraVe hydrating facial cleanser and CosRx gel cleanser are highly raved but neither worked for my skin. When I saw that your video categorizes these products for oily-combo skin types which adds up to why they didn’t work for my dry skin (even though the green CeraVe bottle is marketed for dry skin!!!) CeraVe didn’t feel like it did enough and CosRx mildly irritated my skin.
    I’ve switched over to Cetaphil cleanser since my dermatologist recommended very basic skincare routine after I was experiencing some skin irritation and eczema, esp since I love their moisturizer. It works fine but The Ordinary’s Saualane Cleanser does peak my interest as well! Will definitely try that next. I like the Fresh Soy Cleanser as well (also one of my first cleansers) but feels too luxurious to use everyday.

My ultimate HG gentle cleanser tho was LRP's Physiological Cleansing Gel which my dermatologist recommended to me. Sadly, it's been discontinued and I'm heartbroken.

  • @merrygray2791
    @merrygray2791 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    When it comes to essential oils, it also makes a HUGE difference as to what is put in the oil. A lot of companies dilute the oil with chemicals or heavy metals and sometimes even other oils, so you have to watch for that as well. If the oil isn't pure, then it won't have the effects they claim and can have negative side effects.

    from what I 've heard, essential oils are not toxic. the issue is their compounds (such as citronellol, limonene, etc.) which can be very sensitising. Also, 1 product containing EO in your routine isn't the same as having a whole routine full of EO as the concentrations can add up

    Disagree with your stance on fragrances, especially in leave-on products. They trigger autoimmune responses over time and some citrus oils cause hyperpigmentation in the sun. I’m siding with dermatologists and staying the hell away from fragrances. If you want a sensory experience then burn a candle or dab on perfume.

    • @Poeticdyme
      @Poeticdyme 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Essential oils are more than just "fragrances." They HAVE a fragrance, but they also have many healing properties. There is a difference between an essential oil that happens to have a fragrance and an ingredient that is added solely as fragrance. "Fragrance" ingredients are isolated chemical components that are added just to give a scent. An essential oil, and contrast, contains a whole range of chemical components, most of which have scientifically proven therapeutic benefits. It's similar to green tea containing antioxidant components but also caffeine. We can isolate the caffeine and talk about its negative traits, but we wouldn't attribute those negative traits to the green tea because we know it has other beneficial components in it.

    • @Poeticdyme
      @Poeticdyme 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Also, perfumes isolate the same chemicals from plants that are present in essential oils.
      Also, citrus oils cause photosensitivity, not hyperpigmentation, but so do some of dermatologists favorite active ingredients, such as AHAs. If you're using a sunscreen, like you should be anyway, then it won't have an effect.
      ALSO, many of the commonly used chemicals in personal care products also can trigger autoimmune responses over time. And these are often present in the same products that dermatologists recommend.
      🙄

      Yes fragrance (the ones that arent required to be spesifically listed because are not as irritating and photosensityzing ) are better tha essential oils for sure. However they are still not good. Just because they aren’t as bad, doesn’t mean they aren’t bad. I agree with you. The dermatologist online and my dermatologist teachers all agree on certain things like wearing sunscreen daily, avoiding fragrant components, exfoliating too often, etc. These things pile up with time. Unless you have genetically very very strong skin barrier, irritating ingrediants like fragrances will eventually make the damage visible. The time duration will vary from person to person.

    The Simple Micellar Facial Gel Wash (blue tube only!!!) is great AND drugstore; only like 5 bucks. Just as the name says, it’s simple, hydrating and does the job! My dehydrated, dry combo, acne prone skin loves it. Also, LaRoche Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Cleanser!! IMO better than the CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser. The LRP one has Niacinamide-which my skin LOVESSSS- and BOTH are fragrance free!

    Hi Rowena and Fel:) thank you for changing my life in skincare; I wondered if maybe you guys could check out the Kitao Matcha + Chia cleanser, and maybe their other products? I have inflammatory/cystic acne (it’s way better now but still flares up) and I washed my face with it once, following up with its moisturizer and when I woke up from my sleep all the redness was gone! It was so crazy. It’s such a creamy cleanser and my face had never felt so hydrated and soft before

    Hi Beauty Within Team! Thank you for your informative videos. Just wanted to mention my favorite cleansers. I am oily prone and I currently love using the Garmier micellar water as a first cleanser followed by the Cerave hydrating cleanser. It's working very well for me. As a side note, I don't feel that any cleanser really works on my skin unless I use the two step cleansing method or unless I wash my face twice if using the same cleanser. Might be because I'm very oily 🤷🏾‍♂️. Thanks again!

    I feel normal but sensitive skin is often left out. It’s always dry or combination oily skin types that are dehydrated I feel that every K-beauty product is geared towards. I managed to get contact dermatitis as I thought I had normal combination (oily t-zone) sensitive skin, so I used products for combination acne prone skin which I didn’t have until now... I’ve extremely sensitive skin as I’ve tried numerous hyped and famous K-beauty cleansers, toners etc. recommended for sensitive skin, yet it made my skin red, irritated and inflamed with red bumps and pimples. My skin can’t handle AHA’s like Glycolic Acid, which broke me out 1st, then I tried the Niacinamide and Zink serum which was equally bad. I’ve leaned that my skin simply hates those actives, wether it’s alone or in a formulation. My skin is also sensitive to fragrance/perfume and after trying a cleanser and a toner with Witch Hazel, it got even more inflamed as it’s very drying and not good for the skin. Same with tannins, as I’ve used Rose Hip Seed oil, and it too broke my skin out, red, inflamed and huge red hives/bumps. Now whatever I put on stings, burns and my skin feels extremely warm whenever I try to put anything on. Never happened before I started using K-beauty products tbh. BHA, and Retinol is fine, tho vitamin -C can irritate as well. Especially of combined with Niacinamide. I know it has to do with a broken skin barrier, and the PH level. HELP! I’ve tried the Cosrx, and it was okay. Not much fun of the heavy scent, and even though not really drying, it did feel a bit tight on the skin. I therefor got the Heimish one as people said it was better, and not as drying. Wrong lol. Even worse and it contained Witch Hazel. Not only drying/stripping, but very tight. You could hear the skin was squeaky clean. That’s how bad it was. Wanna give up so bad.

    Fresh hands down. I used it for like ever then being the cheater I am, I stepped out to try other (cheaper) things and HADNT found anything that works as well. I think say yes to cucumbers and cerave are great but at times I don’t think it really gets in there and cleanses the dirt and oil as well, where as Fresh does. I wouldn’t exactly call them ‘dupes’ but they are a decent enough alternative.

      sara baldi the foaming cleanser is definitely not more hydrating than the hydrating version. I have oily skin the the foaming cleanser worked just fine on my skin, didn’t leave it feeling hydrated but didn’t feel very tight after. The hydrating cleanser feels like rubbing lotion on your face and feels very soft and moist after but does wash off clean. Hope this helps!

    Philosophy's Purity is my favorite gentle cleansers and I have oily acne skin type and but as I'm getting older I'm now in my late thirties I'm not quite as acneic or oily as I used to be by a long shot actually your skin does change a lot as you age. But even in my twenties when my skin was a whole lot more like actively oily and acne this cleanser was wonderful for my skin it calmed it and it actually reduced inflamation and active acne for me so I was surprised it wasn't mentioned.
