I'm very pleased with this release, but I do have to agree with you about the longevity.
Had they been able to tweak this to sustain that bright opening to last a bit longer, I'd be that much more pleased with it! The opening was very exciting for me.

I really like it more, and more, with each application.
I tried this past weekend and honestly don't find it fresher than Aventus. I love the dry down of Aventus and that hint of rose, vanilla and the salty ambergris are gorgeous. The Aventus Cologne doesn't have any of this, however I found the mildly inky vetiver and woods to make a kind of smell that smells like bank notes. If you want a fragrance that when it's a skin scent smells like bank notes, then this could be for you.

I dig it. Tried it a few times now. Low projection, fades very quickly. I enjoy the Aventus/VPH "generic" combo, crisp, bright opening. Very enjoyable for the 15 minutes it projects on me. Wonder if its one of those "grows stronger with time" ones 🤣

Kind customers buying colognes remind that perfumes are classified based upon the concentration of fragrance in it over water and alcohol (another small percentage is synthetic oleous substances). Starting from the highest percentage of fragrance in it to the lowest : Extract or Essence, Edp, Edt, Cologne, Aftershave, Deodorant, Eau /Mists. This is in general, especially for the high street. Sometimes to indicate higher percentage they can use "intense" or "concentree''" or "elixir" for any category above. Many brands market under the different versions also completely different scents from the first of the serie, usually an Edp.
Colognes are a category used for a lighter, more watery product, less rich in fragrance percentage than the extract or Edp or Edt. Cologne is also a category associated hystorically with fresh notes, citrusy. Are marketed as cologne also certain cypre types or aquatic noted scents. The essential difference is the freshness and weakness compared to a perfume. A cologne is meant to freshen up, especially men, after bath or shower. Aventus cologne is a cologne. Ingredients also differ from the Edp aventus making it more citrusy, fresher, lighter and less animalic. More flowers, no Ambergris, styrax instead, Little mint, mandarin and bergamot on the top. House of Creed had been honest in marketing. We can't expect a cologne to perform as an Edp. They created a cologne and they sold an honest cologne at a lower price than the edp, as it should be. House of Creed is a niche brand becoming popular also among the usually high street buyers looking for the last trend or the wow factor. For those type of customers skipping to an high street price to a niche price mean very high expectations. It's also true that Creed is consequently becoming more conscious about the times........
The amount of hate on this fragrance since its release is unreal lol. I actually like it and think it may have been better received if it had a different name

Great review. You nailed it. I agree it’s just a faded version of the opening for the dry down. It’s pleasant but not even a top ten Creed for me. Maybe not even a top 20.
Yeah, Captain Scentsible returns! I am particularly partial to the smell of Adam's apple so think I will love this lol. Great take on an interesting scent, thanks Mr Smelly, ordered my sample right now! Probably not going to buy a bottle though.

I got a sample of Creed Aventus Cologne last week. I definitively prefer the original Aventus over Aventus Cologne, which is more mass appealing. My wife didn't like the original one, so I guessed Aventus Cologne could be a compromise, but I won't rush myself purchasing of a bottle of Aventus Cologne. I will purchase a bottle of Royal Mayfair instead.

Good review. I tried Aventus Cologne today and to me it was a weakened version of Aventus, without the smokeyness which made Aventus interesting. I say "made" because recent batches have all but lost their smokiness, to my nose. People are far better off buying a cheaper Aventus clone instead of Aventus Cologne if they want the same effect at a fraction of the cost.
or just buy allure homme sport or dua poseidons cologne.
I get a whole lot of mint in the beginning. In fact it's a very good warm weather scent that makes you feel a bit "dressed" at the same time and not just the standard freshness. Not the best Creed offering though.
i'd like to sample it at least, even though i don't expect it to be better than the original

Guys do yourself a solid favor and buy Dua's "Poseidon Cologne" (new Aventus). I will confidently say it's their best Aventus clone of the 4... They completely nail the opening (unlike the others). It's very impressive, and like the Matrix, it'll be sold out when people get their noses on it. Also the projection and performance is not lacking
Had 4 bottles of Erolfa over the years - honestly think this smells close to it but stronger.
For me it’s not even close to Aventus, they should have just chosen a different name.

Whats up Mr.Smelly.. Please do a review for Sexual Pour Homme.. It smells gorgeous, is unique, and nobody is really talking about it. My most complimented fragrance by men and women.

I just got my sample of Aventus today and I don't like it. Have you ever had a cologne for several years and you could smell it was getting old like that musty smell? This is what this smells like.😖 I also got Black Phantom by Kilian and PDE Layton and I absolutely ❤❤ them! Sorry Aventus fans.🤷♂️
It's not a cologne.. Cologne just means 'fresher'. It's edp concentration.

Its nice, but it kind of just smells like a neutered version of the original...its very pleasant, but I'd never pay full retail for this.
For this fresh, crisp, spritely, citrus & woods vibe, at this price, Ill just stick with Elysium for now.
100ml Aventus Cologne costs 190 euro here in Germany. Official creed selling point. Hmu if you're interested.

I've used fragrancesamplesuk loads this past year and the range and service has been top notch. Cant rate Greg's service highly enough. Plus any problems or questions and they are always there for me. I ended up finding them through a Mr Smelly video last year. So cheers for the tip.
Scent samples are the other one Ive used, but they tend to be a bit more pricey and no longer do 50ml decants of creeds, so I dont use them anymore. Good customer service on the telephone though. I use Toms decants now which are insanely well priced because he gets the bottles cheaper from France. Not great for replying to emails, but will on facebook.

This is such a joke of a fragrance for the cost. It's almost identical to the cheapie Versace Pour Homme which is a nice scent, but i don't feel like Aventus Cologne offers more than that one.

Unless u’ve been living under a rock for the last 3 years u will know that L’Aventure is better & stronger than the original Aventus. Can’t believe Creed are even still pushing Aventus in 2019 especially now in a weaker cologne lol... unbelievable.
