One thing I have to admire about cosplay it how the quality improves every year ..cosplay is professional standard at many events now and it a joy to see it getting better
I have been dressing up in costumes for most of my life, waaaay before Cosplay was globally recognised. We simply called it "Fancy Dress" and it was limited to a few parties throughout the year. At 63 years old I still enjoy making and wearing fantastic characters and I'm happy to say some of my children enjoy it as well. I loved this first episode and will be watching the others soon.

Then several decades of costumes for the Texas Renaissance Festival. The evolution in materials, techniques, and sheer scope of cosplay never ceases to amaze, amuse, and inspire me. Thanks so much for this wonderful series. I look forward to MUCH more!
That was great! It's fantastic to see more people getting into cosplay, I just hope it can maintain the same chill vibe that it's had in the past (i.e. people not being overly "judgy" of each other's cosplay)

Yeah. DCon is the first and pretty much only place I actually feel like I belong and happy. Finding it at 31 years old was absolutely overwhelming of an experience in the most positive way
There is something so special about watching this and hearing huge cosplayers we admire, talk about cosplay from the same place in their heart as us. To know that so many also feel empowered by the chance to become someone else, and that we learn something about ourselves while doing so, it's amazing.
TEARING UP, IM 53 AN IM TEARING UP . I didn't find this community until I was in my mid 40's. Started with making a prop for my son, to closet cosplay, to making full armors. Next is sewing and then even more fun. I love this art and its people.

Absolutely incredible! Gave me a great insight to why the people I met at a Comicon that I was working as security were so darned happy. I have never met a group of people more into what they were doing. Keep on bringing joy to the world by being so joyful.
Im not a cosplayer (i am into "nerd/geek" culture though) but i do really appreciate the skill & craft that is put into the costumes. They really amaze me.
I just want to hear more from all of the contributors. I love hearimg about their journeys and backstories. It's all so interesting! Thank you so much for sharing this and I really hope there's a lot more to come.
This was so well-produced! Although I am not cosplaying right now due to life circumstances, I’m so proud to have been a part of the earlier scene. It’s absolutely amazing to see all the founding figures of the scene publishing books, being invited to cons as guests and judges, and having involvement in docuseries. ❤
This is a nice watch, especially as a creator/maker who has gone in and out of career and passions over the years. I'm hoping to make the skills and lessons I've learned come together here soon. Hearing so many different perspectives about how they connect with the work is truly special. Looking forward to seeing the rest!
I have been doing cosplay since long before they even called it cosplay. I'm 60 years old now soon to be 61 in November I have been making my own costumes since the mid 70's especially robot costumes, different types of armor from medieval to modern and even futuristic then Star Wars came out and Battlestar Galactica etc... and I say when you are in whichever costume you must be in character for that costume. Halloween is and always will be my favorite Holiday

But when I found something called Kami Con in Huntsville Alabama I was like this is awesome I have to try! Four years later I’m playing in game tournaments meeting new people who have the same passion that I do and actually went on a trip with more friends this year than I had in my entire life. Again thank you so much for all that you do and I hope that more people hear about this very soon!
That was great ! It was awesome to hear something that I have been saying for years. How people who love sports laugh at other people who love comics or anime. How I would always have to hear other people say to me that I had to grow up when I worked and took care of my family. How I never neglected my responsibility, but because I didn't like sports, I was told that I was immature. Now I make costumes for my family for New York Comic-con. Thank you for the documentary, and thank you, Kumi cosplay, for all your hard work. I've learned a lot from you guys. You guys are geniuses 💯👏

I see that Spa-Con is featured in a few sections. It would be an honor for all of us if Kamui could make the journey to Spa-Con, sometime in the future. :D
Wow, what a great job! I love it :) what resonates with me the most is the thing that cosplay indeed has no age limits, I'm not too old to do that. Why should I be too old? I think this is one of the most important messages that you can start cosplaying at any age :)
This is was sooooo worth the watch. Thank you for sharing. I love it. I am an illustrator, i do also LARP and stuff. So i can relate a lot to this creativity and fun.
Really good documentary, the intro gave me goosebumps! ❤️ It was almost perfect and great on an international level, but... I find the beginning difficult, there was a lot of talk about bullying very quickly. It's definitely a part of some of their histories (I personally don't know any cosplayers with that kind of backstory), but if I were a cosplay stranger I would have switched off from the documentary. The jump between the phenomenal intro and the sad backstory was a bit harsh, sorry 😅 Anyway, it represents all sides of cosplay really well ^^
I always had a different experience, I watched anime since I was 6, I cosplayed since 8... I was never socially awkward or bullied, quite the opposite actually; I used to sell hand made Yu-gi-oh cards and clay figures to most of my school members, I always had friends and girlfriends, and never ever in my life has someone hinted at me that they thought I was weird for enjoying any of these things. However, after a long time surrounded by people with this kind of experience I realise I am not the norm. I distanced myself from the community for a long time, because every time I told my experience people would tell me off as if I was a poser or something.
