Ok, I finally got the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3, here are my thoughts. It should be known; the Deviate Nitro Elite 2 was my first super shoe (plated). and it was the best running shoes I have ever owned, the bounce, the softness of the foam, the fit, it was everything I wanted in a running shoe, baring a little more foam and a little longer lase. Since then, I have purchased the Nike next %3 (that was returned because they were two different shoes, on kept slipping and I needed a month for my ankle to recover). and Asics Meta Speed Edge, an all-around fantastic running shoes, just a little narrow. (love it) Now to the Deviate nitro elite 3, the bounce is back, with more foam and a little longer lace (perfect for the runner's knot), I do remember the elite v2's bounce was gone just around the 300-mile mark. The foam in these shoes is nothing like Nikes, Nikes is simply too soft and not very reactive, it requires the plate to propel you forward which means you must run very fast all the time to truly experience it. The foam on Elite v3 is more like foam rubber (if you have seen the 1962 move "boys' night out" you will understand LOL), you can run at a slower pace and feel it, my heart really likes those shoes, (lower heartbeat and I am movie faster?) but now that I have experience the Nike and the Asics foam, I can say the foam on the elite v2 and v3 wants to bounce you forward and I can feel the end of the squash, but the bounce makes up for it, but I can always feel it (perhaps it's the plate I am feeling). it will be between the Deviate Nitro elite v3 and the Meta speed edge for the Berlin marathon for me (not true) it will be the elite v3, I don't trust my legs and the narrowness for the meta speed edge after 20 miles at marathon pace.
It sound's like Puma have nerfed the Deviate? So I may look elsewhere in the futute! I picked up the DN2 recently in the sales and they're great. They feel like a stiffer version of the VN2, and I feel like it's easier to go faster. I'll keep the VN2 for slower runs now. Does the Saucony have good heel lock?
Boston 12 ftw, ran 30km in them today. Was such an enjoyable but hard run in 2:29. I guess i will take them over marathon distance. My pair has taken already 420km but still feels awesome and i am a heavy runner with 182 lbs
Boston unfortunately didn't work for me at all, and I really tried to like it. Honestly, it feels very similar to pro 3 but much worst version of pro 3 which I do not see the point apart of price of course - pro 3 does everything way better than Boston does - each time I put it on mid run had regrets why I haven't strapped something else 😂
After the Continental rubber and Puma grip I would put Mizuno in third place with its X10 and G3 rubber compound. Asics is also getting better grip on their shoes. I got impressed so far with the shoes I got from then : Magic Speed 3, Gel-Nimbus 26 and Gel-Cumulus 26. The Nova Blast 4 rubber seems do far very durable, but the grip is much better in the Gel-Cumulus 26 , even on wet ground !
@@JGM0408 I think the extra foam is nice and the extra rocker. The DN2 was a nice shoe but didn’t agree with me too much. I personally like the upgrades but can see why people might not
I may have missed a Yay or Nay episode, but is there any chance of reviewing the Magic Speed 4 and the Brooks Hyperion Max 2? I find the DN3 firmer and stiffer than the DN2 although the DN3 has a more pronounced rocker. I’ve only done a single 20 km run, but I see the DN3 as a long run shoe, marathon pace (max) shoe whereas the DN2 is more versatile. Out of the box, the DN2 felt bouncier and faster and I almost sent the DN3 back. The Velocity 3 needed a break in period (about 30 km) unlike versions 1 and 2 of that shoe, so I’ll see if the DN3 is the same.
@@EDDBUD That’s a bit rough. It was just out of interest, anyway. The Brooks is $300 in Australia and for a few extra dollars you can get the Superblast 2, the Saucony Endorphin Pro 4 or the DNE3. The DN3 is $250.
I’ve seen a few reviews of the Deavite Nitro 3 now and there doesn’t seem to be any major (if any at all) updates from the Deviate Nitro 2? I have the DN2 and thinking of just picking up another pair rather than upgrade to DN3
I've got the Saucony London 10k tomorrow. Just got some ASICS Superblast 2s (first short run in them this morning), but don't know whether to plump for those over the tried and treated Adidas Boston 12. Which do you think will be faster?
I have the DN3 Elite, and while I had heel rubbing at first, I heel locked them and my word they’re incredible I’m gonna skip the regular DN3 as I’ve heard very mixed reviews about them, and I already have the DN2’s which I think are great
Went for a 15km long run with the DN3. Definitely not enough cushioning and they felt very stiff. My knees have been killing me since. Great for tempo and workouts though but would pick something with more soft cushioning for long runs.
It's amazing how a can always find a video of the theme that i'm searching for on your channel. I need shoes for my speed workouts, fartlek, tempo, intervals etc... I was thinking between Adidas Boston 12 and Saucony Speed 4, never thought about Puma. what do you think? Thanks.
I've ordered Endorphin Speed 4 without even trying it lol🙂 I couldn't find it in physical stores but found it on sale online. I hope I won't be disappointed.
Dn2 its good shoe but that narrow fit ruin it for me, puma seems to continue with narrow fits along with velocity and dn3 that plus some reviews arent that favourable to what puma done to dn3 makes it very easy pass for me
Saucony must improve the following on the fifth version of Endorphin Speed: 1. Insoles: The insoles of these shoes are not soft and not comfortable to use. They lack snap, which also affects the performance of runners using these shoes 2. Midsole: I understand the Power Run PB softens the entire ride; however, it lacks energy return or a snappy feeling. The midsole is slightly firm because of the position of the nylon plate I hope they could somehow adapt the technology on Asics Superblast particularly improving the midsole and outsole of ES5. else I might pickup 4 pairs of Asics Superblast 2, 1 pair novablast 5 and 1 pair adidas takumi sen 11
No contest, Speed 4 all day. Fit and lockdown is great and best outsole from the series so far. Midsole feels fast, snappy, stable and great for workouts and Long runs. I thought I was going to hate that Saucony made the platform wider but it's growing on me every run actually. Not a fair comparison to DN3 but Speed 4 miles better in every way.
Ed, would you be so kind as to reveal your foot length to us mere mortals? (As you may be seen as somewhat of a 'shoe-guru' I am interested in how you size your shoes relative to length of foot.)
I’m returning my DN3 and getting the Speed 4. I found them to be disappointing. They did not feel like an upgrade to DN2. They felt heavy a bit clunky and certainly not faster.
Hobby Jogger here. I really liked the Deviate Nitro 2. However, I recently got the Adizero SL2 and, for my needs, it's a nearly perfect do everything shoe.

Quite interested in a PDN3 vs Brooks Hyperion Max 2......think they are pretty close comparison.

There’s little in it. Outsole better on the v2. Slightly lighter. But love the tongue and looks of the v3.
