Im a huge pearl jam and obviously love the original...but this is so different it cant be compared they are both good in different ways...this version is so so good
wow. aaron's voice- sometimes soothing, sometimes so full of pain, and he usually chooses to cover songs with great fucking lyrics and feeling and he always does them justice. 2002- the end of the golden era of alternative rock
I’m jealous you got to experience for the first time , either way it’s still always amazing each time. Even when you are on time 6,000 it’s still amazing.
After this song came out and the media blew up BS between him and eddy? I saw Arron in concert and guess who his guest was to do this duet with 2 guitars??!! Eddie vedder!!! THAT was f-ing awesome....once in a lifetime performance and THEY BOTH killed it!
I'm not sure this occurred? I'm also not sure the media blew anything up? Great cover. Had this on my desktops in college. Burned to a DVD. These guys are on different planets as far as culture relevance. Both great, in some ways. Not sure about the hard Republican stance, at its ignorant points, or switching genres entirely, but there are people who believe in him
Does anyone else have a different view of this performance? I always wonder if there was a DVD made of this concert. The energy seems so raw. Hardly anybody had phones ruining everything yet. I wish I could relive it.
I remember when this CD came out. I was in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 2001 Beach week. Family values tour 2001 Album. Too bad we can't get this on I-tunes
Hey-hey, oh Sheets of empty canvas, untouched sheets of clay Laid spread out before me, as her body once did, mmm All five horizons revolved around her soul, as the earth to the sun, yeah Now the air I tasted and breathed has taken a turn Mmh, and all I taught her was everything Mmh, how quick the sun can drop away And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass Of what was everything All the pictures had all been washed in black Tattooed everything I take a walk outside, I'm surrounded by some kids at play, ooh I can feel their laughter, oh, so why do I sear? Mmh, and twistin' thoughts that spin 'round my head I'm spinning, oh-oh-oh, I'm spinning How quick the sun can, drop away And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass Of what was everything All the pictures had all been washed in black Tattooed everything All the love gone bad, turned my world to black Tattooed all I see, all that I am All I'll be, yeah Uh-huh Uh-huh, no I know someday you'll have a beautiful life I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky But why, why, why can't it be Oh, can't it be mine? Hm-hm, no yeah, yeah no We, we belong, we belong together, together We, we belong, we belong together, yeah
Well, it isn't as good as Eddie Veddar, but then it wasn't his heartbreak. I do love his music. I saw him in California, it was supposed to be the whole band "stained" but only he showed. We didn't miss the rest.
@lounzer No he can't, however, there is no other artist that could have pulled it off. Aaron Lewis and Staind are the end of the best era for rock music.
It’s December 14, 2024 and I’m still here and always will be! ❤❤
Alcohol always brings me here.
Couldn't have fucking said it better..lol.
@@aaronlane5800 Oddly enough tonight I'm here sober. And really soon since the last time...
Guilty as hell right now man. Cheers mate
Fack me confronting 😂
🍺 to escaping life’s bullshit! 🤘
Please don’t ever take this video down, I’ve been coming back to it for over a decade.
I discovered this version about 5 years ago and I absolutely love this version over the original
I used to blast my voice out to this on many drives back and forth between Jersey and Virginia 2009-10ish. Can’t agree with a comment more
Yessssss.
My thoughts exactly bro! Over a damn decade! Still great 🤘
Thats cuz its better than the pearl jam original, by far
Still come back here all the time lol
Same here. Same. 🥹💕🎶
love Pearl jam. but Aaron Lewis did Black unbelievable. one of the Best cover I ever heard. & the end when he sings it sends chills down my spine
He just does it all better period :D
literally one of the greatest covers of any song ever

I prefer his personally. But give credit to pearl jam as the creators
I agree. I love this so much
This is one of the best covers ever.
It is THE best cover.
His voice and vibe are PERFECT to cover this song. A match made in musical heaven 🙏🏻🫰🏻
Both Eddie and Aaron are amazing on this song. No need to argue who's better, they're both epic.
God, I love his voice. I don't care what he sings. He is just beautiful.
best voice in the fucking game. hands down
@@BradyIsAfagInHeat you ain't fucking lying I would pay for him to sing commercials
@@BradyIsAfagInHeatNice to see somebody that gets it sprinkled throughout life 😁
lost count how many years and times i come back to this. Life is weird and wonderful.
Nobody can sing that song like Aaron...not even Eddie.
I was front row on the barricade for this tour, and 23 years later....it still hits like a brick.
This is the best cover of ANY song EVER. Black is my favourite song of all time and he absolutely nailed it
@@Katiesbeenthinking 100% agreed
"I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be the sun in somebody else's sky, but why? Why can't it be mine?"
I just want her back 😞
I only come here when I'm super low. My god I love this man.
Aaron singing Black gives me all the feels. What a powerhouse voice & an incredible cover! ❤
“I take a walk outside, I’m surrounded by some kids at play”
Goosebumps every. Damn. Time
I don’t know how he doesn’t make himself cry during this!
2024 still the best cover ❤
Im a huge pearl jam and obviously love the original...but this is so different it cant be compared they are both good in different ways...this version is so so good
we can all admit this is better than pearl jams version.
Try wrapping your brain around this concept: any artist that does a cover does it with total respect. Live music is always better
An icon never gets old or ever dies!!!❤❤
Been coming back to this for over a decade by far my favorite cover of any song
What a beautiful voice 🎉
love this man's voice
best voice in music.
We still here my friends? Of course we are..
wow. aaron's voice- sometimes soothing, sometimes so full of pain, and he usually chooses to cover songs with great fucking lyrics and feeling and he always does them justice. 2002- the end of the golden era of alternative rock
I can not believe I Only just found this
Glad I did
I’m jealous you got to experience for the first time , either way it’s still always amazing each time. Even when you are on time 6,000 it’s still amazing.
Feels like Aaron wrote this, I swear to God. I wish they could do a collab
Now that’s how you pay respect to the singer and band for making such a heartfelt relatable song, “when words fail, music speaks.”
After this song came out and the media blew up BS between him and eddy? I saw Arron in concert and guess who his guest was to do this duet with 2 guitars??!! Eddie vedder!!! THAT was f-ing awesome....once in a lifetime performance and THEY BOTH killed it!

@Logan Bunn I love the man's music. I couldn't care less how he votes at the ballot box. Simple as that.

Best song to deal with a broken heart
So true
Or looking back on lost lovers, family and friends. Dead or alive.

Wish this was released on one of his albums. Love this cover
This is on Family Values '01. Along with a lot of other awesomeness!

Best song ever written!!
Aaron lewis voice!😍
That song made me shiver.
I heard him on MTV Unplugged & went to Best Buy that night to buy his CD.
Holy shit dude
Remember listening to this for the first time on a Family Values Tour cd mix
Haha saw a Family Values concert with Korn and The Deftones!
Great cover of a beautiful song
Life changing discovery
All time great Cover my man!
Not big on covers, but Aaron really knocked this one out of the park.
A touchstone performance for a certain generation. A fan appreciating the beauty for all of us. ❤
This is the only version of Black I like. Aaron Lewis gives me chills with his voice. So good!
Look up Black live from Beneroya hall. You’ll likely have a new favorite version
December21st,2024 .... Miss this music!
It’s rare a cover is better than the original. Impressive
LOL you mean like every single song by Bob Dylan?
Sorry, what I meant to say was EVERY SINGLE song by Bob Dylan.
Nowhere near as good as the original but each to their own
Bueno this is a beautiful version, I love both versions. My favourite song by far.
Amazing

Oh my fkin gawd this is so fkin good

One of the rare times a remake is better than original.
Love this song and Aaron lewis! Love both versions also but yes I agree Aaron is more into the song, he's more soulful! :)
How can you say he's more into the song I think your comment is just dumb..

I've been trying to find this song on Spotify.. but just can't ☹
aaron lewis deserves to cover this song. he's pretty much all that's left of the 90's.
Does anyone realize he changed the lyrics at the beginning?
