My uncle is 92 and makes out he's eating a cheese sandwich when they call and plays the muddled elderly person trying to get to grips with the computer etc ( although he is still very sharp). Keeps them hanging on then says he can't find the mouse, keeps them hanging on more whilst looking for it under piles of paper then excuses himself while he pretends to look for it in the kitchen, wasting more of their time, eventually says he can't find it as it's ran off with the cheese from his sandwich. They then start calling him names, but he's used to it ..one called his mother a prostitute to which he replied " Oh you know her then?" Etc etc
My best so far is wasting three minutes of a BT Openreach call, talking about a fox that visited my garden...I think I need to refine my story or get some serious practice in to keep them on the line for anything approaching a decent length of time.

At 50 I got my first computer from Apple. I was learning how to use it in the Apple store and continued to progress at home. One day I got a phone call from ‘Microsoft’ saying that my computer had problems which they could fix. At this point I was worried I had done something really wrong. The caller asked if I had windows, which at the time I thought was peculiar. I was using my Mac in the conservatory which has 6 long windows, and so I said of course I have windows🙄🙄🙄. When I mentioned the Mac the caller suddenly cut the call. Hmmm. A few days later I got another Microsoft call, this time they had a Mac technician that could help solve my problem ( which was non existent) in between the two calls I learned that Microsoft do not phone customers. Since then I either tell them to bugger off or simply ask them to convey the problem to my secretaries, Peppy and Tomsk. (Budgies) it’s quite comical really, the birds look at the phone and wonder where the little voice is coming from.
My 84yr old dad messes with them to the point where he wastes 10 to 15 minutes of their time. Then they swear a blue streak and call him a mother’s”?!]^! Then they hang up on him! LOL
I mess with them too. I'm a voice actress & do do different accents. Drives them crazy & they start cursing me out also. I have so much fun messing them up! 🙏✌❤

I listened for a few seconds, and all I heard was mumbling in Indian language. Burst ear drum?? or at least deafened for a short while? I hope so. The End.

The trouble is,there is a dark side to these scammers; the elderly and vulnerable are at particular risk of actually falling for their scams and it seems that little is being done to prevent this.I don’t quite know what can be done in law or elsewhere,except maybe warning our elderly and vulnerable neighbours.Some of these scammers are very cunning ; one has to read the supposed sender’s e-address very carefully,for instance,did this e-mail really come from Amazon or Microsoft,or whoever?(Mind you,some phone scams are just plain comical ; when a “ Sharon” or “Sheila” from Brisbane calls...with a thick Asian accent...quite the giveaway!)
