We bought a cheap VW T5 Combi, but why was it cheap?

Yep, we've done it again and bought another vehicle.
It's a cheap (so I've been told) VW T5 Combi.
Why was it cheap?

I have a T5.1 bonnet in the same colour if you wanted to facelift this & up it’s value. Also have headlights & wiring adapters so no need to cut any wires 👍🏻

Thanks for the videos ! I'm on the other side of the globe in Melbourne Australia . I purchased a very similar 2006 T5 4motion with the AXE engine . Exactly the same problem with the coolant issue and did the water pump replacement too . ( what a stupid system ! ) Anyway also had to do a cam replacement as I found that it was a worn cam that was causing limp mode . Darkside developments ( in your side of the world ) provided a great replacement kit . Issue sorted till engine blew up from lack of oil ( dont ask me how ) . Anyway just nearly at the end of an engine swap and during that we have also done clutch and DMF replacement . How is the placement of the oil filter cap ? Another stupid idea . All the best with it though . They are great vans if well looked after . Looking forward to seeing your updates . Cheers

Congratulations on this lovely van. The Vivaro seem cheaper and easier to work on. Wouldn't it be a good idea to have a conclusive diagnose done on the T5 before spending any money on engine work; to eliminate the guessing about the cause.

you've been had Larcs. that price tag does not match the vehicle you bought. in its condition with the mileage id cut that price tag in half. still, will make for a good series.
