You can actually just select the hexagonal grid and type pull and select the dome and then use the curves that are pulled to trim the hexagons from the dome, works in a fraction of the time.

I am following the tutorial and my points project on the curve in a weird way. On top view projected points correspond to the points on the pattern so points are stretched and distorted on the curve. Tried for 10 times or so and have no idea what I am doing wrong. I appreciate any help.

There's an easy way to build domes: create a fullerene... I think your method creates edges of different sizes in the exagons
