Logan was always my favorite, I never played through 1 because I was still a little too immature to handle zombie games, they freaked me out too much and couldnt commit to playing extensive periods of time, but I beat riptide a couple times, dabbled with all the characters but I found logan to be the best to transition from early game to late game, while playing with rando's in the late game they all had guns regardless of who they were because of guns O.P.ness, Logan was always able to kill just as fast as them with his high end weapons that could be thrown from a distance (I distinctly remember electric katanas being my weapon of choice for this), as long as boomerang kept triggering, and he'd been doing that since the start of the game.

Been playing this game for over 10 years since people seem to show up in my life wanting to play it.
The way to play the chinese girl is to craft big electrical axes, the more the better.
If you throw them you usually kill the enemies in a single hit, you should only swing weapons on enemies when their back is turned to you or if they are stunned through shock\poison.
Carry random knives you find in the game to throw on the explosive enemy, their explosion can make your thrown weapon fly through walls even inside rooms, making you lose the weapons forever.
Regarding the fast access weapon slots, one should be a firearm for human enemies (generally pistols), one should be a knife for throwing, the other slots should be axes, the weight of the weapon affects how long the enemy stays stunned after a hit, if you confront zombies by slashing your knife around, you will be obliterated. This strategy works in both Dead Island and Riptide.
Electric machetes are the best melee weapons until you get big axes. With big axes you can kill 3-4 enemies at once with a single swing. It is the best melee weapon in the game.

  • @Heffy_Boi

Dead Island is neither a groundbreaking nor a particularly polished experience. That said, I think Dead Island represents the qualities I enjoy seeing from middle market games. I'm one that enjoys sinking my teeth into just about any title that manages to make something of itself on comparatively shoe string budgets to the more dominant AAA experiences on the market and this game is no exception. I think what Dead Island did better than the many other zombie filled romps of its time was simply not over complicating the mechanics and just presented a pick up and play mentality. One of the things I'll never forget about this game is my experience with guns. If you've ever played Techland's flop of a modern Western styled shooter (not to mention incredibly disappointing follow up to a great series) simply known as Call of Juarez: The Cartel, you'll know exactly how the guns feel in Dead Island to say the least (likely due to the same engine being used for both games), not very good. They lack punch and yet... due to their relative rarity in Dead Island's world, they became a joy to find and just as much of a joy to use. Despite guns feeling like... well, ass, Dead Island actually makes you appreciate them for the most part which I always found to be a brilliant design choice and is my main take away from my time playing.
Overall, I definitely recommend Dead Island. With the follow up coming outta the misty vapourware dimension here soon, might be a good idea to get this game on sale soon before it comes out! You really can't go wrong with Techland's first take on the genre :3

After that, though, it gets too hard to be fun. The very next section introduces running zombies that chase you non-stop and gang up on you and an insanely annoying tough zombie that can only be damaged by shooting him in one specific spot in the back after dodging his charge. The opening level of the beach is perfect for making players feel almost serene, calm even, but still having the underlying horror just waiting around any corner. Moresby City ups the hostility with more corners to hide zombies behind, due to the inner city layout, and overall darker environment. And then the Jungle is just pure hostility, presenting zero familiarity due to the seemingly ever-changing landscape, and even more places for zombies to hide due to the thick jungle foliage and trees.

Aw, i was expecting you mentioned the analog/digital controls.
Digital controls are the basic controls, you aim where you wanna hit, and press a button to hit.
Analog controls are more complex, you have to activate a "combat pose" with a button, and you manually swing your weapon, with these you can get some insane moves, like one lateral swing to the knees to destabilize the zombies and one vertical hit to the head to finish them off

Dead Island is the funnest game i’ve ever played with friends hands down, shit is comedy gold, especially with some of the skills and the high level mods. The physics were the best part in my opinion, everything felt so satisfying and heavy, Id even say the guns were the best i’ve felt besides Battlefield, the shotguns especially. The driving physics were amazing too, me and my friends would just race around the island for
hours, the driving felt so fast and tight it was amazing. The worst part by far was the story, in fact I never played it with it in mind I feel like the developers hit a gold mine with a fun coop game when they were actually trying to make a gritty, dark walking dead type game and they failed fucking miserably at that. Literally the first thing I remember about the game were me and my friends laughing at the intro and sinamoi’s accent. Then cue throwing shit from like 10 ft away and watching them fold like a lawn chair, getting drunk and fist fighting thugs with triple damage boost and and health regeneration from Logan’s skills. The disconnect from what the devs wanted and what the fans played carried on to Dying Light and that honestly ruined it for me. Yes its better as a story and its scarier with the nightime but at the cost of the multiplayer being way worse. The fact that it if you want to play multiplayer you’re all clones of the same guy was big L and on top of that the game focused so much more on the story,” and doubled down on the serious tone. I also enjoyed the driving much more than the parkour, especially given the fad died out. I feel like the Dead Island 2 devs really understand what the fans liked about Dead Island given the trailer’s comedic lighthearted fun feel and beautiful physics, also more options on how to take out zombies and more characters than originally too. Can’t wait for it to come out

I thought it was a brilliant setting. I felt totally immersed exploring the island and progressing the story further inland, finding the city in ruins, uncovering survivor encampments, more research labs, and eventually the tribe.
The story and progression all felt immersive even when partly satirical, like Sam B’s rapper knockoff or fetching more champagne for a strung out Svetlana.
It’s why I’m hesitant about Dead Island 2’s push for its focus on mechanics like Gore and Weapons. They are what made the gameplay memorable yes, but it was the initial backdrop and setting that pushed the game into limelight.
A zombie game on a tropical resort.
If we’re just thrusted into a sandbox LA with no authentic story, even if silly, it will tank.

The national average public school in the US has 526 students.
That means in every single public school, there's about 13 students with the blood type in question.
I really don't understand why you believe that on an island of thousands of inhabitants, there shouldn't be any people of that blood type!
A typical hotel like the one depicted in the game has over 300 rooms, even without the apartments and bungalows outside.

I will be honest: I was kinda happy Jin died, she threatened the main characters, stupidly goes behind their backs to a place that clearly wasn't friendly and then is killed because she thought that releasing white's wife was a good idea, for real, i'm surprised she didn't jsut try to stop us from killing the zombies as well, what a terrible character that had absolutely no point whatsoever...
Also, Do you plan to make a video about Dead island Riptide as well???
Also: is it just me that always felt like the camera movement in this game is odd? i don't know how to explain it, but it's like it's never precise and it's always "wavering", is that just me? i'm sure this doesn't happen in the riptide one

I once had a randomly joined player gift me a modded one-shot-kill revolver - like Purna's fury pistol - with so much ammo it was effectively infinite.
I could've exploited that to make the game a complete cakewalk, but decided to only keep it for emergency situations where I was close to dying. But I did end up duplicating it before that exploit was patched and gifted it to my friend.

want to point out, the reason why the visuals aged well for a game released in 2011 is because the game you're playing is the definitive edition which uses the chrome engine 6 from dying light 1 with new textures, lighting and effects, the original dead island and it's spinoff, riptide uses chrome engine 5

yeah i'm not sure why he didn't think of that, the engine switch also changes the gameplay quite a bit too

@@thebiggeridiot yeah the impact mods like the shock mods for blunt weapons used to send the zombies flying into things to do damage on i think criticals but now they just go straight down, the truck in the definitve edition is also an instakill on zombies no matter how slow you're going while in the original it would push them around if it was going slow or even be stopped by them, while if you had speed it would do a lot of damage.

Hi FuzzySlippers, I found your channel by your GTA IV Retrospective Super Cut getting recommended to me. I thoroughly enjoyed that and have been going through your back catalogue of reviews and really enjoying them also. They're very well made and entertaining you deserve ten times the views and subscribers you get. Your Rockstar reviews getting recommended will hopefully give you the viewership boost you deserve.
I've subscribed and wish you all the best man. 👍

Idk man. Dead Island is a 10/10 imo. Finished this game countless times and still excited to play more. Sure the story might be inconsistent and there is a lack of cutscenes. However I think the gameplay is the true gem of this game. The hours of playtime without cutscenes are the best parts in my opinion because I enjoy doing side quests and shredding ass so much, in which case it's really fun to play so it's not really about the story for me.
