    If you're riding around a little off the beaten track in the Himalayas, a moderately powerful, lightweight bike like this is fabulous. If you're not from India, you'll not understand the kind of roads we are used to riding on. you don't need more power than this 'scooter' offers. There is rarely a stretch of highway where you can cross 150 KPH or an offroad track where you will need more than 30 something BHP. Anything more is mainly showing off for the people who can afford to spend 10 times the annual average income of an Indian.

      After watching this review I couldn’t stop myself making a comment like this, he sounded more like shaming and comparing it with some top end bikes and his experiences than reviewing it,but you did the job well mate! So coherently spoken. Cheers 👍🏻

    Thank you for the reviews. WR250r is sitting around the same price range, has 27hp, max speed of 140km/h, and weights 40kg less than this bike. Can do all the things exactly the same fashion, with much greater agility and offroad capability. Honda CB500X has the same weight like 310GS, but offers more bike. A quick suggestion would be; You should make at least a comparison with similar bikes to differenciate their pros/cons with eachother. So potential buyers will have a much clearer picture of their needs. Without comparison reviews have a tendency to perceived as a commercial. Just sayin.

    It is aimed at countries like India, Brazil, etc, where a 125cc or 150cc are the most common, so a 300cc or 600cc is kind of a big deal.

    iI like that term "baby GS", well done. Let me ask you a question, I have watched many of your videos and you seem to ride with no problem all the BMW lineup, the S1000 XR, the GS1200, the F 850 GS etc, yet these bikes are very tall. Seat height from the floor is 840 mm at the minimum adjustment. Yet you are not very tall. Can you give us some advice as far as how you are doing this, are you getting an additional kit? just how low can a person that is as tall as you lower the seat, can it go below 840mm. Please be specific a lot of us are interested in your answer as it has kept many people from buying this bike like one of my friends until we saw you riding them. Thank you in advance for your answer. By the way, can you tell us how tall you are?

    • @josechimal1358
      @josechimal1358 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      8:07 he clearly says he's 1.74cm. tall and you don't need to be tall to ride all those bikes you mentioned. Just matter of getting used to them, one foot on the ground is more than enough.

  • @RockwoodJoe

    Beginner question; All these vids show bikes traversing deep streams (flooding the lower end of the axles in deep water). Is this normal? Will it damage the suspension in the long term? Forcing the bearings underwater is not the same as riding in the rain.

I have a little girl,I will not make long trips on bike, I will use it to go to work and little adventure ridings when I have time. I love Honda crf 250 rally but I think the BMW, with his 34 hp and a lower seat will be more versatile.

    The real question is: strap Giant Loop, Rotopax and would you have had more fun riding it in South America than on big GS?

    • @DriveMagRiders
      @DriveMagRiders  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Only on dirt. And on some muddy secondary roads in Peru. I remember that day - it was heavy raid, a lot of mud and landslides and we were packed in our Gore-Tex gear on 15-20k usd motorcycles. Meanwhile, the locals were riding 125 Hondas wearing just a hat. :) But I also remember the long straights of Atacama. 500-600 km a day of doing nothing than keep the bike on cruise control at 120 km/h. It was the moment when I was happy to be on a big GS. To sum up, if I were to leave again to South America and do the same track - mostly asphalt - I'd still go with the R1200GS. The G310GS is nice and fun, but it's not really built to eat 600 km a day. I mean, you can do it, but it's not as comfortable as a big bike. It's a matter of compromise.

    • @cyclopathic998

      DriveMag Riders are you going to review other lightweight ADV bikes? Versys-X 300, Royal Enfield Himalayan? SWM SuperDual? Middleweight T700, KTM 790, Guzzii V85 when they come out?
      Issue with big GS that it might be not possible to pick it up when you traveling alone in less than ideal situation

    • @DriveMagRiders

      Looks like you had a real blast riding that baby-GS, more fun than on 850 or Africa Twin if to judge by amount of smiles.
      The first mfg who builds a 175kg 45-55hp low maintenance ADV bike with half decent suspension, good range and reasonable seat height will make a small fortune for sure.

      She turned off, but because of me. No sensor.

      DriveMag Riders Sure? Because i have one and she turns off even at high RPM. I think the sidestand sensor closes short circuit.
