  • Similar to Fabric Painting, but even if you think you're not artistic, you can do this! Inking fabric is much easier and cleaner than Dying your fabric as you will see and it's just about the most fun you can have with fabric! Create the perfect match or look on your fabric for those hard to frame fiber art project, or accent pieces on wearable art garments and have your project stand out from the rest because your fabric will be unique, that's guaranteed!

    Talking about theinks was the best. I tok a class the other day and the instructor used a different type of inking pen. This gives more versitility.

    Reallly informative! I’ve been using Procyon dyes for decades, but I’m just starting to learn about inks. This answered a whole lot of my questions. I’m going to check out your classes! Since you had room for both endings, I think a simple mishmash of both is actually the most informative. I really needed to learn about those inks.

    Did you mention which brand of ink you like?❤ thx!! Yesterday, i was looking for fabric binding tape to complete my project. Nothing matched. Then I remembered I had white cotton binding tape. I soaked it all in alcohol first. First time cause the cotton was too think. It just formed lines So I drenched i the whole thing in alcohol and saturated it in a dark blue. After letting it dry, there were shades of blue, purple, lavender wirh no defined pattern . I didn't lay it flat, so I accidentally allowed the liquid to drain or pool depending on how the tape was positioned. It matched my project perfectly, which had a similar shades. The original was inked, too. Now all I need to do these days is buy white tape!! :)

    For the metallic ink, how do you keep them from washing out or flaking off. Is there a 'fixative' or special technique? Maybe the material I'm using? Thx!! Less time consuming and messy than dies. Will experiment with combining ink and dyes one day, tho.

    • @clare-rowley
      @clare-rowley  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The metallic paints that we have at creativefeet.com right now that are on closeout not because they're not great but because we're closing out all items other than create a feat brand products are wonderful. All of these work better on natural fibers and I heat them I hand washed one top for probably 10 washings and then finally threw it in the wash and the metallic remained.

    Be careful with friction pens. 2 days ago. I drew a cat face on my daughters grey mask with a black Friction pen for Halloween. When I went to remove the ink with the iron... instead if the ink disappearing it turned a white colour. This was a brand new set & I had used 3 or 4 other coloured pens without problems. Lesson learned! ALWAYS check the pen to make sure it will disappear when you’re done.

      Kona brand 100% cotton (I don't recommend muslin) and I did nothing to prepare the fabric. If you're going to make it for a quilt, prewash and heat set. 😁

      This ink is fantastic! It allows you to vary the delution while still maintaining its permanency. Therefore, you can mix or delute to whatever consistency you desire for the color appearance you seek.

    Beautiful ❤️
    I hope you get the in time a pressing question.
    Made a head wrap scarf and posted it on Facebook today being that it's January 2021 someone reached out to me and they wanted me to make them one however mine was made out of multi colors I did use alcohol inks plus I used Dr Phil's Indian inks so my question is is she wants a head wrap made out of cloth stretching material and she would like two scarves a red and black color and then a pink and black color my question is do I just purchase the white colored material and then use the colors that way I noticed that Indian ink doesn't move but it does have bright splotches of colors versus alcohol inks if I put alcohol inks on the material it will spread I know this that black turns to Gray and the colors May mix any suggestions that you have should I get a colored head scarf black one pink one red one and use the colors that she's asking or should I just get a white one and use the Indian inks sorry to be so long but you're the only channel that I noticed that does a cloth thank you have a great 2021

      If she wants solid colors, dye the fabric in place of inking. You can email me info@creativefeet.com for more assistance and include a photo, or post this question inside of my school.

    Q: once you finish. Do you wash the material with cold water & vinegar to keep the colors bright?
    Will the ink stay on for good after many wears Example a shirt or headbands....
