I think the benefits the 270 brings to going camping far exceeds the weight issue. Having shade from sun/rain of the rear of your truck unloading/loading supplies, using the tailgate for prep/cooking from it. When the sun moves you have better shade coverage from the sun. I vote for 270 for a better camping experience.
Great demo video, I really like this awning and your setup. It seems very practical and well thought out. Like most of us, our rig evolves as we test out gear. Keep the content coming!
I have two ARB awnings with the bag covers and can see your interest in the sleek aluminum cover. The removal of the lower vertical legs is due to the extruded aluminum piece at the end of the awning there. My 8' wide ARB awning has that same extrusion and is long enough to house the entire vertical pole lengths when they are not telescoped out. My 6.5' ARB awning has a completely different extrusion on the end that allows the two collapsed poles to lay side by side when closed up. Although this works just fine, it makes rolling up the end of the awning a bit clunky and results in a much larger package when all closed up. Thus how your Benehike awning is able to roll up nice and tight. Now, watching you set this awning up it does look extremely weak in the middle regarding the nearly 10' of horizontal telescoping bars. I would HIGHLY suggest getting yourself a set of telescoping painter poles and create a way to use them to prop the center of each horizontal pole up. A good down pour of rain without them (regardless of tilt for runoff) will result in a bent pole. Also a good down force of wind will do the same. Being an affiliate of Benehike, you might want to also see if you can get a few extra poles to have on hand if/when one bends on you while out camping. They should be replaceable, but you don't want to have to deal with a bent pole and no awning for the duration of the trip. Even my ARB awnings and every awning made using these kinds of poles are suspect. I carry no less than 2 spare poles with me, as well as a spare hinge piece in the even something goes whack during a trip. So far haven't bent a pole in 5 years, but I am extremely careful in what conditions I set it up in, and Mother Nature knows I have backups with me. 😂
Like the new awning. I liked the other one as well, but wasnt certain about set up in windy conditions. Rig looks nice so far. Keep up the great work. God bless and ya'll stay safe on your travels.
I like the rigid cover on an awning! I’ve scratched and cut up my soft cover on mine from branches and it’s such a bummer to get to camp and have a hole in the awning! Plus it matches in style to the aluminum tent. Looks like they belong together
Looks great! Now I got the camping bug! Nice knife! I own the mini sheep dog. Never tryed the big boy. Kizer has some great knifes. I just got the Kizer varatas and I think it’s Kizers best knife I’ve ever held.
Hi, I received my Nature Nest I bought after watching your review. I have not had a chance to sleep in it yet but so far the quality is just as you described and customer service is very responsive.
I think I'll wait for the Kammok Crosswing to have a few additional features (shade wall, slightly deeper, optional support poles for the added length) and get that.
I've been eyeing the Kammok too. BTW they do have poles now. Nothing special IMHO. What I'd like to see on the Kammok is a metal cover to protect the fabric.
Love your videos! What do you think of the naturenest tent that has the 180 degrees built in awning. Why did you choose that instead of the other one? Just curious. Thank you.
I have a similar Naturnest tent on my truck. I was wondering, does having the awning mounted like that make it more difficult to close the tent back up? It seems like it might be harder to access the seam and push the tent material into the clamshell prior to latching.
They have a 270 degree that's only 51 pounds on their website. Seems like if they really thought it out, they could figure out a way to cross the 270 with the rigid cover build style of the awning you have in the video. Would bet it wouldn't add a ton more weight (or maybe even drop some) and still get the best of both worlds. Even if it brought it up another 10 pounds that's still dropping something in the range of 30-35 pounds compared to the one you referred to that was in the 90# range.
Keizer Sheep Dog is a great knife. They also make a mini Sheep dog. i have a knife review channel feel free to check out some awesome knives.. loving this set up!! light is key for me as well..
You could certainly shorten the poles to the point that they will close up and fit inside the awning end piece, but you will be somewhere in the realm of 5-6 feet of total height you can lift that end of the awning. The telescoping poles have to fold inward and pretty much touch the ground tips together to fit up inside the 6.5" width. The other brands of awnings at this width use a different extrusion to allow the two poles to lay side by side and can get away with much longer telescoping results. However, this extrusion would not fit inside this hard shell aluminum cover. 😢
Badass video. Sir, We learned from your page that you do product review, We just emailed you for inquiring an opportunity of pod lights review, Do you do that kind of stuff?

Can you please do an install video. I would also like to know what brackets were used to attach to the lower rail of the rtt. Thanks in advance.
LOVE the light weight setup, TJ. 👍🏻🍻
Thanks 👍 me too!

Nice, I might try this on my Lance Camper.
Dang you’re gonna be out in my neck of the woods. Hope y’all have a great trip
Sweeeeeeeeet awning !!!

Awesome! We slept in ours this past weekend, it’s sooo dark on the inside! We sleep great! Thanks for sharing!
@@KayakUSA1 maybe we will run into you on the trails one day. We live in Canton GA so not too far from you. Love watching the channel.
Very informative video. Thank you for taking the time to make and post. Just subscribed
Thanks for the sub!
They should make a screen room with privacy panels for that
Good looking rig!
Really enjoy your content. Thank you 👍 keep up your good work .
Thanks for watching!

What awning brackets are you running on this setup! I just bought one for my Naturnest RTT!

???? Question- What brackets are you using to mount this awning to the NaturNest? I love this setup.
Some small brackets that I fab’d up.
Could you show how you attached the tent to the rails off truck or is there a site you can watch

I have a mini sheepdog.
Dang, that miniature yellow lab is skinny. 😂

Turn those white lettered TAs in! Black walls will change the look of that gorgeous truck so much. Please please!
You should put on the Scout Truck camper or the new 610 by Northern Lite.
Lmk if you deside to sell the naturenest awning! I’m right outside of chattanooga! Been looking at ordering one of these or the ovs 270
Will the legs bottom half not telescope back up into the top half? I’ve got an awning and legs store inside them self.
No, they will not and still fold up.
Dang…I was hoping for a simple solution.
Cut and modify 😬 lol
Sweet ride and I enjoy watching your videos! Keep’em coming 👍

Do you have it attached to the tent or the rack?
Tent 🤙🏼
Light weight chihuahua😂
How tall is your bed rack?
270 better set up. That awning will blow away with the wind.
Agreed but too heavy
That’s why I’ve a 270 free standing awning, this is way to complicated and takes to long to set up alone.
$399? I’ll pass
Sheeehhh no kidding that’s insane
Put a 2 x 4 across the tips of your forks at the very end it’ll work great
