“Memento Mori” Latin for “remember death”, ever since I heard of this quote my whole perspective of life changed and came to the conclusion that the meaning of life.. (at least to me) is in death. Death is what gives life meaning, knowing that you will die one day, however this doesn’t only apply to you but everyone around you as well… even the people you care about the most. Death is inescapable, it’s everyone’s final fate. Except there’s a catch, we don’t know when, how or even to whom it’ll get to first. Maybe you’ll die next year, next month, next week or tomorrow. Maybe it’s not you, maybe it’s someone else, someone you really care about. Most may agree that this is not something you’d want to be reminded of but ignored and try not to think about, BUT listen, now that I reminded you of death what do you do now? Once you’re done reading this reach out to those special people in your life and tell them how much you love them, forgive those you wish to forgive before you leave this earth or before they do and most importantly live your life without regrets because remember.. death is coming.

This talk really really calms my fear, panic, anxiety and depression of the existence of life and what it all really means and not knowing it at all. Knowing that really, there is no significant meaning to life and that nothing really has to make sense at times if they are confusing. That you can simply decide what kind of meaning and life you want to have and there are no rules. That the meaning of life is simply to be here and exist. To simply go about life in your own way, with what makes sense to you, with what works for you, with what you want to accomplish or not, what you want to be or not, and that it really is a discovering of yourself every moment of every day over and over again. Following out a set of rules, values or rules that you decide and require for yourself. That's the meaning of life. And that differs from person to person and experience to experience because everyone is different. So don't stress whoever you are out there reading this feeling confused. We will all make sense of it one way or another.

Yes, meaning lies in existing in present knowing you are alive and aware of it. Sometimes I feel that I never lived at all as I never was in those moment. Every thought, every action was futuristic. It was as if I was breathing in future. Yet today, knowing that those experiences brought me to today, gives a meaning to that kind of life. To me , life means thinking about what force drives this body and mind . Nothing but that force exists in me and everyone else. That something indescribable has no form, feeling or emotion yet just manifests into form, feeling and emotion. Enjoy living knowing that it exists till it stops manifesting. People can't really accept that their life has no purpose, we're just being exist as a result of driven force of nature.. people create their own purpose of life by wanting to be rich , want to have good life partner , want to do good thing for having good legacy, exe... Walking towards this purpose require alot of energy both physical and mentally. After reach our goal , now we finally have peace in our mind. We come to the state where there is no more worries about anything. It's joyful and happy. At this point we are literally living without any purpose , meaning just happily waiting to die . The problem is that for some reason we forget that all the possession that we achieve like money , legacy ... Even these peaceful feeling Is all impermanence. The attachment to all this impermanence results in alot of suffering and it is clearly cause by our own ambition to achieve our own purpose that we created. It's like we're basically creating a meaningless game to play just to kill our lifetime. So what is the real meaning of life?? The true answer is there is no meaning. If there is no meaning then should ppl die straight away? The answer is no , because we have no clue of what happen after we die or in another word " we have no idea of who we are ". Buddha has clearly said that we are just force driven by the nature and accidentally having awareness then experience the perception of the world as we seen today. We never live or die. We're not supposed to have awareness or consciousness. But since this force have awareness then it's always have perception about it's own world. So what happened after we die ? We never actually die , we just transition in to a new perception of the new world, another word, heaven , hell or human world. So this transition of perception of our sense from human to hell , from hell to heaven and so on so forth will continue endlessly. That is real suffering. To get out from this endless circle of suffering we have to get out from this awareness. Buddha have give to this world the technic to do so and it's call Vipassana meditation. In conclusion , the purpose of life is to do meditation and inorder to do meditation effectively we need to have as less attachment to all the possession as possible and study as much as possible about the law of Nature that present by Buddha. And of course living in society we need money , that's why Buddha say that 3 basic need is enough to live in this humans world. Buddha lesson is not philosophy but it is reality.

You cannot live while harming none. You MUST consume living things. The activity of living IS the act of killing. The denial of this reality, the willful plugging of the ears, is why we end up doing far more killing than we need to.

Of course, what you really mean by 'harm none' is 'harm no humans' -- but this ought to illustrate how much harm we do, without ever even considering it. And those are the "good" ones of us. So, why would you assume that the "bad" ones of us, simply don't have a 0.01 millimeter larger diameter of what they don't consider or think about when they go about life?
We are here. It is now. Things are happening. You are trained to judge some things as 'harm' and some things as 'justice' and so on.
But these are not actually THINGS that exist, they are IDEAS in your mind. And that is perfectly fine. But don't confuse ideas for reality. It makes ideas too rigid, and reality too mushy.

Meaningless is only a burden if you value meaning over the lack there of. But by doing that you're turning life into a quest for meaning, and when you can't accept the fundamental meaninglessness of life then you are stuck in a loop trying to find something that doesn't exist. Meaning is a construct of the mind. You can't find it, only create it.

actually this life may NOT be the only life you have...even though it's the only life you are currently AWARE of! Your HIGHER self...your TRUE SELF, is a small part of God...Each and every one of us are like little "gods"...in a way ...did not Jesus Himself say that "Ye are gods" (Yes, He did!) So each of our powerful Higher selves can divide itself into 12 smaller portions/ separate selves if you will, and each of those 12 separate selves can further sub divide into 12 more life forms...so technically you can have up to (12x12) or 144 lives going on at the same time that your not currently aware of, but they are all a PART of you...the REAL YOU... and they are all living out their lives in different parts of the Universe at this very moment, and inhabiting different life forms(not necessarily human).... they(YOU), are all learning, and spiritually evolving, and they will all return to the HIGHER SELF after each "lifetime" and report what they have learned from that life....this is how you grow + evolve ... you may not believe this now at your present level of understanding, so just think of it as a possibility for now

We will not know life as a whole because it has a next stage after death that we don’t have any concrete knowledge of…I take all research, religions, real knowledge and my own experiences into consideration and use it to navigate thru this world we are in and I embrace the mystery of not knowing what’s next and most importantly our family and ancestors will already be there waiting for us to show us the way same as when we were first born here but the difference is that we will be conscious and know where we came from. The life we are living is our beginning stage of what we are, it feels old because of all the time that has passed and because we are all connected thru our dna. also im reading The Book: On The Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are by Alan Watts and i got a bit confused/demoralized in the second chapter. basically he said that death dissolves our ego and hence is waking up from our delusion that we are seperate from the world. so at that point my question was "since waking up is worded in generally positive connotation, isn't the easiest way to achieve this suicide?" but this video, a lot of Camus' ideas of signifance coming internally from the action itself instead of transcendent meaning, and another quote from the same chapter "seeking (waking up) is part of the fun" (apoligies if incorrect im just recalling this quote off the top of my head) answers this. the seeking is the game, not the breif moment of victory.

Honestly I need to know that the idea of meaningless isn’t inherently bad, but a state of existence implying that no one’s here for suffering or joy, but they are here for the fact they are here. It’s like existence is a blank canvas and our reality or life is the paint brush we use to create meaning.
I am just as important or unimportant as Earth and even the Universe in the grand scheme of things even though there is no plan as far as we know.

Imagine us as demi gods with power. The narcissistic manners and evil thoughts would be terrible. We must learn much before having powers. We would not allow our children to have a gun. Same thing.
you also have to think about how we don't know everything about the world. what we might think is impossible may be very possible beyond our "world". we don't even see anything. the universe is filled with little life forms but why? what's the point of them being there and what's the point of the ability for them to be there. why does anything exist. and if nothing existed what would it be then? what would matter be? why is there hot and cold and left and right and mass and matter. it just doesn't make sense to me. and also what about the difference between your physical life and what goes on in your head. its obvious that your thoughts are not physical. you can't control what you are thinking. if i told you not to think about a pink elephant you'd do the exact oppisite. that's why i think that our thought are somehow coming from something none physical. so basically it isn't there but it exists in not a physical form but almost a mental form? the physical part of our life is what we can control. the mental side is not. now getting off that, why does that side exist and why does it exist within us. oh yeah and where the fuck are we -a thirteen year old
I just really feel led to share something with you...when people wake up in the morning and wonder what the meaning of life is, there is only one answer, we were created by a true living God who gave His Son Jesus to die for our sins and He rose again, returned to heaven and said He is coming back for us again one day. I am here to tell you that the "some day" is right around the corner according to the Bible, His return to come and get us is imminent according to prophecies that are right now being fulfilled, and it is up to each and every individual to accept Him and love Him for what He did for us and ask Him to take over our heart and remove the heart of stone and give us a new heart of flesh, if ANYONE does that in all sincerity they will be changed in an instant and suddenly they will know in their heart the true meaning of life and what we were put here for. The meaning of life is not so important. Life exists because there is a divine consciousness. This consciousness has existed for eternity and will never die. To just be the consciousness was so boring that the consciousness invented physical life so as to have a life from birth then to death in a cycle. Since death does not exist, the spent physical body wears out and the consciousness is then reincarnated. I may be the first person to totally spell this out. The divine consciousness was afraid of spending eternity being aware and so invented the physical life to ease the burden of eternity. That's it. I'm a huge admirer of Alan Watts but I'm sick of the god thing. To be in a total state of nothingness would be most desirable, but the consciousness is aware of itself and hides and dilutes suffering an eternity through physical life. If a person thinks he or she is god then they forget that all other forms of life are that too. No one is superior when all are equal.
The meaning of life is the believe on the one that gives you life eternal.

The yearning for meaning signals a lack - “there is no meaning” - which in turn clearly arises from pain. Do we feel joy and at the same time crave meaning? No.
The common daily pain of expectations unfulfilled, desires dashed, dreams crushed leads to “surely there must be some reason for this - some other meaning otherwise the suffering is pointless. Surely that cannot be.”
But it is - most commonly suffering is self inflicted and has no particular meaning other than that we didn’t avoid it.
So why should there be any esoteric meaning justifying it?
Is then the suffering the meaning?
Why should that be? It’s “just” suffering. If we accept that we did it to ourselves then there is no need to seek further meaning, only a caution to not do “that” again.
But accepting that is not easy because we have - expectations.
And around we go.
I always enjoying listening to Alan though. Gets the cobwebs out.
Does Alan Watts actually say anything? His voice is hypnotic; but it seems like he just strings words together into intangible ephemeral ideas. I usually don't remember a thing he said.
There is a fair bit of nonsense, but those golden little nugs that click… ooooooh
His way of explaining his very much like telling a tale, but he’s an extremely intelligent man. There is plenty to disagree with but there is also very valuable knowledge
@@AtziaTheDon I'm not complaining about Alan's talks; I find them to be quite mesmerizing; but his style is to meander from one idea to another, so when I'm done listening I'm not sure what he was communicating. But like I said, I enjoy the journey of his story telling
You may want to listen to his talks more than once, picking up more understanding with each listen.

I love Alan Watts, but every single video that plays music while he speaks takes away from hearing his words. It's way too distracting. Please don't do this. Let us listen.

All this being said, it does require faith to believe. Hebrews 11:6 tells us, "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." Also John 20:27-29 states, "Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Don't be deceived, Jesus is the Son of God and the only way of being saved from God's judgement for our sin. Christ consciousness won't save you. Believing Jesus was an ascended master, a prophet or a good teacher won't save you. Romans 10:9 tells us how to be saved, "if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved". Trust in Him, He shed his blood and gave His perfect life for you. Call on Him, He loves you, and He hears you.
So life has no meaning ...life is the meaning itself
That's why we are not to go by feelings, we are to go by the word of God, who he says we are!
