Thank you for sharing your personal story with us. Here I was, depressed since forever, thinking: "This girl probably is one of the few lucky ones who have never struggled with their mental wellbeing, so she decided to share this strength born from her good fortune with others." I feel like such an idiot now. Of course it takes someone who was once suffering to employ this much empathy for people who are down on luck. Thanks you so much for everything you do. Maybe one day I'm well enough to help others, too. You're my inspiration to do better.

Pls don't feel (call yourself) an id*ot,
      it's not nice to yourself,
      and is ableist...
Depression makes us distracted, so our brains don't come up with logical possibilities as some agile might.
      It's ok.
I hope good things for you too.

The truth is, we r bombarded with too much trauma. We r not the same people our parents and grandparents were. We r further from perfection. We have stresses and pollution that push us towards depression and anxiety. I have met all ages and stages of life, and depression has no favorites. All humans suffer, at some time in their lives. Some of us were depressed, even from little kids. There is no shame in the therapy and medication game. To be honest, being aware of what makes u feel not good, u r in a better position than those that 'act' like there is nothing wrong. Because they can't humble themselves to accept the human ness. Find ur joy and peace in life. Pray for those things. ❤️

Hey there! I just wanted to leave a message and thank you. A few months ago I started watching your videos and it really helped me to hear you say that everyone is deserving of a clean home. I've had problems keeping my spaces clean since I was a kid. My mother was depressed since I can remember. She kept the house clean but she was too tired to care for me most of the time and I was left on my own. I've lived in dirt and mold for years and years without ever having the strength to clean it up myself, only doing surface level cleaning whenever I would have guests, but it always got dirty again quickly. Your videos inspired me to finally get up, grab trashbags and get it over with. I carried out about 25 trashbags over the last month and I got rid of so many old and useless things. I feel like I carried out half of my apartment XD I now have a cleaning routine, do about 15 minutes a day, and when I see dust or crumbs, I just wipe them off instead of letting them sit there. My home is looking very pretty now and I feel a lot better just from that. It's so nice to come home from a vacation and see that everything is in order and that there are not mounds of garbage and dirty dishes and dirty clothes all over my floors. I feel at peace with my home now and you started it all. Thank you for your work! :)

I always hated cleaning because I have OCD and could never get things perfect. It was so hard to decide where to start and I never got to the end. Now I clean to a timer and have learned to accept clean enough. Doing just a few things every day is manageable. Decluttering is probably the worst because I have to let things go. I love your squeegee and microfiber cloth on the floor. So much nicer than getting out a mop and bucket.

I love how you told us about your depression journey. Mental health is not talked about enough but it is so much better than 15 even 10 years ago. When I was younger I felt there was not many people who felt the same way as I did and I felt so out of place and ashamed of myself. Even though I still deal with depression (managed by medication) I realize there are so many people who are going through similar things that I have been through. It's important to talk about our stories because it helps one another and you never know who you may help. Thanks for being such a positive role model, you are a gem.

I don't like cleaning but using the timer technique has really helped me to keep my flat at least tolerably clean. It's surprising how much you can get done in just 15 minutes! And sometimes that inspires me to do some extra. These videos inspire me, too. Thank you Auri!

It’s amazing how much bigger the rooms look cleaned. I’m trying to use your videos as inspiration to clean my own home, which a complete wreck due to chronic depression and anxiety. I don’t like not being able to have even my family inside. If the people at work knew how I lived, they would be more than shocked. It’s a very lonely feeling. Bless you for what you do and I’m so glad you were able to conquer your demons and prevail.

Friends have asked me over the years the best way to clean. My advice (for normal cleaning not what you do) is to carry the cleaning products you need around with you in a caddy. Picture your room as a clock and start at 12:00 working clockwise around the room. This saves time and keeps you from missing something. I also tell them that the best way to keep your house neat is when you leave a room going to another, take something with you that does not belong and return it to its normal place. I have never cleaned houses in the condition you do but years ago I cleaned military houses for inspection before new residents could move in. Back then they even took a dental mirror to check under the rim of the toilet bowl. I don't think your home needs to be that clean all the time but it should be clean enough for you and your family to be healthy. I can't tell you how much I admire what you do but I am constantly trying to get others to watch you. Stay Happy 😊

  • @GradKat

Auri your story is amazing. It’s hard to believe, seeing you now, that you were once in such a desperately unhappy place. Your recovery is in itself inspirational, quite apart from your cleaning philosophy. You give hope to so many people. ❤️

    • @ShellyCline
      @ShellyCline 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Right? All by itself it is a remarkable story. And I love how when she was asked what she does when she's having a bad day she answered, I just have a bad day. Sometimes we have bad days and that's okay. The bad days help us to appreciate the good days.
I had a breakdown 25 years ago. And it took me years to finally grasp the notion that if I'm not okay, it's not a big deal. I would desperately, and frantically try to hide the fact that I wasn't okay and it added so much stress and depression to my already existing stress and depression. It's such a relief not to carry that burden. To know that if I'm having a bad day it's okay to tell friends and family, hey I'm having a bad day today. Just let me have my bad day lol. It also helps them because they weren't so desperate to try to "fix it."

It would be useful if somebody could visit these people once a month and see how they are coping with life. Being overwhelmed for a month would be easier to deal with than being overwhelmed for months.

I used to be extremely untidy and messy, when I was younger and caring for my 5 children as a single parent. There came a point in my life, not till I was much older, where I said "I can't be like this any more". I have major chronic depression and it didn't help being untidy. I am so much better than I used to be. I'm not perfect, but so much better. You have taught me to have a different attitude to cleaning and also to feel good about a clean and tidy home. Love your vids, your caring spirit, your thoroughness, everything. Very motivational. Ive been a housekeeper at the hospital for 20 years next month. Lots of sterile, clean environments that have to be just so...then I come home to a anxiety depression house just like this, and am so overwhelmed I just sit, locked into the internet on my phone til its time to eat and go to bed. I daydream every time I watch you that I will win the Lotto and fly you over to California to help me. 😄 I hope you find joy doing this for many years to come - you are truly a life changer! ❤❤🤘

For me it's been helpful that Auri just comes and start pick up the trash. She is showing that the task is not so overwhelming that I had imagined. My issues are physical these days so that limits my ability to clean myself. The biggest takeaway of these videos you just need to start somewhere.

Thank you for all you do! These questions were really interesting! I didn't know that you suffered from depression. I would of never guessed! I'm glad that you are able to explain things to some people who don't understand the situation. Many in my area think that your house has to be perfect and that causes many to get overwhelmed. It's ok if your windows are not washed. I generally put a load of clothes in the wash and pick up trashes. Then when that load is placed in the dryer, I find another load and pick up more trashes. That makes a big dent in the cleaning, so moving around becomes easier!

Auri I really enjoy your cleaning videos and have watched since you first started TH-cam! After hearing your personal story, and the people who's homes you clean I really resonate with it. I have had really bad depression since at a young age and still have a very hard time getting through life and dealing with day to day tasks. Sometimes I go days without cleaning or other things. But then I see how fun it can be to clean again, and the positivity and love you share. It really helps me out. Thank you! You're amazing

First of all, I have to thank you for what you are doing, and for doing it with great love. The fact that I found your channel at the right moment helped and helps me now not to turn my house into a tube town, etc. My depression is not so severe, I'm already being treated, but sometimes it's still hard for me to do something around the house. Then I remember you and your videos. Often it helps me to get up and at least throw out the trashes that has accumulated in the house. Thanks!
And now the main question: where did you get these beautiful pink boots of yours? I want the same ones.

I love this! Inspired by you- I'm a working mom, have 4 kids (one with severe depression), and cancer survivor so I have accumulated alot of stuff and the house has suffered over the years. Needs to be cleaned and organized. I am trying not to get overwhelmed and doing one area at a time. But also I am very environmentally conscious so I want to recycle, compost, donate as much as possible instead of throwing it all in the trash. I would love to quit my 9-5 and make money on living my dream which is to help people heal naturally through diet, supplements, and exercise, so that they may remain cancer free and perhaps reduce the amount of medications they are taking and FEEL BETTER! THANK YOU FOR YOUR STORY! GOD BLESS!

I've experienced situational depression twice---15 years ago, when my son was killed in an accident only one year after my wonderful parents died (the depression was horrid; ten months of nothing but mental darkness, even though I HAD TO go to work every day, being my sole source of financial support).
Second time was just this past winter, when my faithful old car broke down and became nothing but a piece of junk for the junkyard. Five months of being isolated from my friends---they all live in another city 33 miles from me (I stay here because I love this little city, and my sweet little apartment)---and no easy way to get around anywhere as there is no public transportation of any kind whatsoever. I do understand how depression seriously affects a person's outlook on life, and while I've overcome both bouts of it, I know I have to be very mindful to get the help I need if I should experience it again.
Thank you for doing what you do for your followers, Auri. I don't think I could wade into such huge messes as you do and do the same awesome job you accomplish.

the fact that you experienced this kind of pain really explains how much empathy you have for other people. im so sorry you had to experience all of that.. that kind of pain is so overwhelming and it makes you feel undeserving of help too. what you do for other people is so so impactful. sure people will have bad days again. but starting with a clean environment gives people a new chance. it shows people that they are valuable and deserve to live in a clean environment. when you dislike yourself , youre going to accept any dirt around you as 'deserved'. like.. if you knew someone you hated, it would be hard to decide to clean for them. you wouldnt want to clean up after a despicable, horrible person. but thats how normal, innocent people feel about themselves too.. thank you for seeing the goodness in people and giving them something so important ❤️
