    One of the most important things when hooking up a competition stereois to make sure you got the polarity right if you cross your wiring to your speakers you'll lose all your bass make sure + is + and -is -

      Wow 🤦

      @precise1329 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Mike Jones I am not sure if that's true. The assumption being that the speaker operates using magnetism. I'll refer to positive polarity as out, and negative polarity as in. I would also assume that the polarity is specific because the polarity dictates which way the speaker pushes. Through design, the intention of the out signal would have a higher or lower tolerance than the in signal. If you fail the 50/50 shot at getting it right, you could then potentially have a speaker moving in beyond the designed tolerance. Additionally, the out signal would be directing the sound a certain way. When the hit you are looking for in the cabin is instead directed into the trunk (in this case.)
      Please, correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not an audio/speaker expert in any capacity. Just an electrician applying general electrical theory to the question "does polarity matter?"

      @@precise1329 My man really came out here with the facts. I'm just a kid reading TH-cam comments but in my clearly professional opinion I think you settled the confusion. Even if you were completely wrong it takes 2 seconds to just make sure they go "correctly" so why not just do it right the first time.

      @@lycanharmon3103 exactly. When I'm doing speakers I always double check the sound quality. If one of the speakers is hooked up out of phase they will sound like crap when they balance is equal/centered.

    The polarity Absolutely matters man, A is always Negative and the wire that's Green or with a thin black stripe is your Negative the Blue is the Positive also the smaller metal terminal on speaker is negative. Otherwise your speaker will move in reverse and it's not good for performance and overall life of speaker etc.. cheers

      Yes the JBL is a better speaker than Kicker because it is made by Harmon Kardon who also makes Infinity speakers but keep in mind they are 3 ohm speakers where Kickers are 4 ohm. Alpine speakers are better sounding than JBL and Infinity etc. Then there are even muck better speakers u can buy also but the price starts getting up there. There are some Focal speakers that cost in the thousands of dollars and will blow away just about any other speaker out there but Focal is in a whole other level of speaker quality.

Also like everyone is commenting u can just go buy the adaptors for cheap and not cut ur wires. U hooked ur driver side speaker backwards from ur passenger side speaker. U have ur tweeter towards u on the driver side where as the passenger side u have the twitter towards the back off the car. If u have a very keen ear like I do that would drive me crazy.

    You need to use a compatible wattage if you want it to sound good. Just adding higher wattage speakers with a low powered head unit is definitely going to be lower quality. You have to match the power output of the head unit with the speakers you choose. Otherwise distortion will destroy the upgraded speakers. You have to match the rms power output with the speakers you want.

    But don’t you think you should put the adhesive back under the speaker where it meets the plastic? And where the plastic holder meets the metal? I feel like you should. So it can have a better sound for the bass to travel. Because not properly covering the air from the bass will not make it sound good. I know. Because I tried to change the door speakers with my house radio speakers lol. Like how ghetto of me. But when the other door was open and the other closed. The bass was totally low. I could definitely hear a change in the bass. The bass sounded sooo much better. But I used so much weather strippings to make the bass trapped to reflect a better sound. But when I would have both doors closed. With the speakers in. It would sound flat like if the bass was directly hitting each other making bouncing off to where I can’t hear it. But maybe a simple tuning would do. But I don’t know how to tune the speakers :/

    Btw if it’s going to be your first time putting new speakers on the rear deck of your Chevy Impala. Please please please break the new speakers in before trying to pump it out in public. Because it will sound horrible. And not what you expected when you first get them. You have to give it time to stretch and sound better before fully going at it.

      you gotta upgrade the head unit for them to sound better the speakers need more power

    • @tuckertastictk
      @tuckertastictk 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is actually fairly common. Stock speakers have a peak the upper bass, giving the impression that there is more bass than there actually is. Aftermarket speakers have a flatter response, and are also less efficient than factory, which is why the bass is sometimes perceived to be less.

      Some seats will fold down and some will not fold down but either way still not give you access to the speakers because the seat back frame including head rests are still affixed to the rear of the car. They don't fold with the seats.
