Truly a beautiful area. I did the Solitude Loop back in July and was blown away by the stunning views. That Cloud Peak Wilderness is definitely a bucket list visit. Great video Tim!
Been to that area a couple of times. Been up to the top there once. I would go back again. It is well worth the extra hours to keep driving to the West to the Big Horns over the Black Hills. It’s the big boy mountains. You should go to the Wind River Area in NW Wyoming. 3 wilderness area all put together. You can go over 100 miles and camp anywhere. Nice one Tim.
It was a harsh reminder that we are hikers, not mountain climbers. Lol. The Peak Alfredo you sent was, and has been, my favorite meal. Highlight of my food bag as always. Thanks Boop!
Welp, that's the moose encounter everyone hopes for. Incredible. And then that all that sexy rock scrambling? Goddamn this was the trip that just kept giving.
"i love the fresh air out here" inhales cigar 🤣 Sam is a trip hahaha. Thought about going out this way back in 2019 but never made it, decided on the Tetons instead. Looks like an amazing trip! Some tough climbs for sure and the boulder fields are sick! Good to see all the Midwestern backpackers getting out west, Midwest represent! I need some good content to watch while i sit here and dream about it 😂 Thanks for the video Buckley! Built ford tough!
Sam is a riot, dude! Love hanging out with him. Hopefully one of these years you and I can get a hike in. I've always been a fan boy of you, Mr. Mike. Your videos always stood out to me!
@@BackpackingwithBuckleyheck yeah! Was just messaging Shane briefly about it, if y’all get a shindig going this winter round the holidays Im in! I’m sure it won’t be much of a hike but it’d be good to meet you in person nonetheless!
@HeadNorthMikeMcKay I'm not sure where I'll be working this winter. I leave the Badlands in October and I'm hoping I get a job somewhere like Big Bend.
I didn't see anything saying that. We found what was obviously a campsite there and found it fairly ethical to assume it was OK as we didn't see anything posted stating otherwise. Thanks for the heads up though for next time!
@@BackpackingwithBuckley For sure. Its an epic spot. Maps designate that whole flat area on the east end of the lake as a no camping area, I assume to protect it, because it would become dotted with campsites. The wilderness regulations also prohibit camping within 100' of lakes and streams.
@@BackpackingwithBuckley I was wondering if that was a Hilltops pack. Id like to try it out. I got the CS 40 by Outdoor Vitals and id love to compare the two. You got any plans to make your way back to KY anytime soon?
This was incredible!! Absolutely EPIC trip brother
Thanks my brother. It was a pretty special place to be!
Wow, what a trip. Moose interaction of a lifetime and those rock scrambles were no joke!!!
It was a pretty perfect overall trip and well worth sleeping in a lousy tent! Lol. Although....I think I could have made a hammock work in hindsight.
beautiful scenery, what an adventurous trip,. thanks for sharing.
@paultan1995 it's one of the coolest places I've ever hiked. Thanks friend!
Great video. It was awesome reliving that trip. PURE EPICNESS.
Unforgettable trip my friend. Thanks for all the work you did to plan this! Fun group of guys to hike with to say the least.
The Bighorns are an underrated treasure. Done 5 or 6 trips there, never disappointed
I agree. Absolutely stunning!

Thanks bud! Nature did most of the work. Haha.

Superb stuff. Some great views in this video 👌
@stigfloberghagenphotography thanks! This one one of my favorite trips of all time. Probably resembled Norway a bit more than the desert I bet?
@@BackpackingwithBuckley Yes kind of, but still very different. And that nice . Subbed 👍🙂

Thanks Lance. They sure were big boy mountains! I'd love to hit the Wind River area someday!
I love a hike that can be summed up with "holy shit"!
There were a lot of "holy shits" on this one. Beautiful....

It was indeed Pooh! 😀

such a great trip with a little of everything!! hoping you can get a little higher soon lol
One can always get higher. 😀
That area by Lake Solitude is closed to overnight camping.

Visually stunning video! Great editing too! And how did you end up with the same color hats?
Thanks a lot friend! We both work at the Badlands and it's the only hiker hat we have. For the record, I had mine before Mike did. 😀
@@BackpackingwithBuckley yeah but I look better in mine.
Like your hats. Where did you get 'em?
We work in the Badlands and they are sold in our lodge. I believe they are from a brand called Atomic Child. Look em up!
Nice one!!! What pack are carrying?
It's a Raven from Hilltop Packs. It's a 40 liter frame less pack that weighs 23 ounces. Love it! Thanks bud.
