Wow, I have to admit, I wouldn't have considered a fashion book being up my alley, but as an English major and Elvis fan, your review won me over. The selected passages you read were fantastic insights, beautifully crafted. Best writing I've seen on him since Guralnick's two volume bio. I just might have to buy this. Thanks for the always great content!
Great video , wow what a review . I'm not much of a reader but that was great . Your delivery was also spot on mate ,you have a way about you with your videos . I think she has caught the essence of Elvis 100 percent
Great review (promotion) I will get this one ,I had a long conversation with Bernard Lansky in '97 and he told me the story of the first and the last suit ,he was a wonderful man ,thank's Sean👍
How wonderful. I met Hal Lansky, who wrote the foreword the book and is an awesome Elvis historian - but I'd have loved to have had long Elvis chat with his dad, Bernard. A treasured memory for you!
Excellent review, Sean, and the book sounds excellent too. I'm surprised no one has thought to write a bio from that angle before. Sounds like it was not only written by a fan but one who can write too. Like you, I missed those little things like the belt buckle off to the side. As a (former) musician, though, I've certainly gazed in wonder at the photo on the front of the first album many times. I believe he may have a used a black bridge pin for the first string, so it only appears as though he had just five. Being black, it doesn't show on the photo. I could be wrong, though. From one nerd to another.
@@sincerelyelvispresley I dusted off a bass a few years ago for a work's do but they forgot to turn the power on for the amp, so I had to play air bass for a few minutes. Nobody noticed. That was my swan song, I'm afraid.
An Elvis 🤓 😊?? Me also Sean. I look at detail also in books. Sounds like a good book. I usually do like books that deal with his stage wear especially. Ill look for these one, thanks Sean. Juan
Hi Sean. Given how much I’ve spent playing catch up with Elvis books this appears to be a bargain! Do you have a link to anyone selling TCB sunglasses replicas? The real frames are out of my price range! Thanks, Gary
Hi Gary, the book is definitely worth ordering. There are 2 sellers on eBay at the moment who have the official silver TCB sunglasses for £9.99 with free postage, which is the cheapest I've ever seen them for. There's a pair behind me in the vid next to the Elvis bust. Take care and thanks for watching! Sean
Ordered. I just received the Gold Lame book. I think this has leapt to the top of my KJ collection so far. Like many, 69/70 has been my favourite period and like you said there isn’t a bad photo of E in 69. But 57 equals it IMO. The idol emerged and he did so much great work in that year, as well as becoming the first merchandised pop idol. Incredible stuff. I have the Loving You book coming.
@dontneedahande yes, agree about the Gold Lame book, I really like design of that one, especially the non-white page backgrounds. 57 was a great year, have you read this one www.waterstones.com/book/elvis-57/alan-hanson/9780595431229 If not, well worth checking out, and cheap too! Is that the FTD Loving You book?
Why not focus on the clothing manufacturers and clothing labels such as Blocks, Penny's town craft,, Carmel ect, The clothing still exists and easily identifiable. I have many original examples myself including the jacket on the front of elvis is back lp.

Thanks David, I love a good bit of nerding 🙂 and surely you're always a musician, aren't you? or do you not play at all anymore?

That's priceless David, I now see you in a whole new light. You're basically Sid Vicious! 🤣
@@sincerelyelvispresley Unlike Sid, I never got to release a solo album, though.
Love your observations! 🎸

Great idea, you have the basis of an original book of your own there! Sounds as though it would need to be very photo heavy though
