Perfect demonstration! I've been in a relationship with Lisa for over a year now and have grown to love her. But you've just taught me how really make her perform. Amazing transformation on Witching Hour and I love what she does with the kick drum in the first track. Thanks, JC!
The most slept on plug in ever….i mean this one plugin changes my mixes from a regular mix to a polished vinyl sounding recording and I am simply not exaggerating at all…..this thing is absolutely insane!!!!!! I can’t express it enough, if you have problems in your mix that you just can’t seem to fix inside the mix….save it for the LISA….i don’t know anymore words that can express how amazing this thing is. It’s like a selective band compressor and dynamic EQ at the same time….absolutely a must have!!! Picture my mixbus….digital V3 EQ, the PQ then this, followed by the Amek mastering compressor and a shadow hills compressor if needed all going into the master desk pro….the best I’ve done with them is -4.6 LUFS….which is honestly spectacular for a guy sitting in a bedroom.
This is incredible. I saw the hardware model at Musikmesse over a decade ago and to see this is a gift. Plugin Alliance continues to push the envelope and unravel the magic that is all around us like oxygen in nature. I look forward to hearing this in the studio. Justin, Thank you for your passion and walkthrough of such a magnificent design by TOMO Audiolabs.
I read some of these negative comments and..alright, I respect any individuals opinion. PA has a treasure trove of vintage and digital processors. Like Waves and many other manufacturers, there is a difference in all the similar imitative toys of yesteryear and the toys of today. Quite frankly, its gotten to a point where beginners can get some descent free plugins that sound ..well..descent. As a subscriber of PA, I have been very pleased with their products and use them ( as well as others ) on every mix and project. I have just used this on a mastering session. Like any piece of gear ( hardware or not ), it takes a bit to get used to its functions, sound manipulation and capabilities. So far, I was pleased with the results. Having the dynamic opto compression added on to the EQ functions really adds to the plugin and it's possibilities. I have yet to explore it on singular tracks..but that's next. As far as vintage looking GUI's verses GUI's of a more graphic nature....they are both good and serve a purpose to its user. Thanks for your video and tutorial. Much appreciated.....
I have the pa subscription too, I think they have some amazing vst like bx_digital and black box 💖 but personally I hate their console emulations, the high end seems too hyped up, compared to SSL native, waves... When a push 1 dB of 8 or 12k on the brainworx, I get the impression that I'm cranking up 6dB. Maybe it's just me and I'm weird, but that's my impression, I didn't make any scientific test 😁
@@alexandre7634 I rarely use the console plug ins ( although the Lindel Neve console can add a bit of character ). And if I do, I leave all its onboard eq's and dynamics off and use other processing tools to do that work. And quite frankly as a Mix/Master subscriber, I have found a handful of plugins that I actually use frequently. But its a large handful.
Thank You so much PA. I haven’t been able to stop using this since I purchased and installed it. Really happy to be a mastering engineer in the Plugin Alliance Golden Era 🔥 don’t know how I was mastering before this came out and don’t wanna know. Thanks again
PA, for plugins that have separate controls for each channels, please give us the option to hide one set of controls if we have the channels linked! There's already an icon to hide the bottom panel. Just one more icon next to it would really clean up the GUI. If I'm missing something and this is already possible, someone please let me know. A few plugins like BAX, Alpha & Karacter have separate mix/master versions with simplified controls, but surely it wouldn't be hard to just have a tiny button to show/hide the controls for the second channel.
I liked the second example, I think that the vocals suffered in the first example. I could be wrong. I heard instruments get clearer, but the lead vocal just seemed to be unclear. It could be TH-cam compression. I'll check again and check out the plugin
Hey Cleon, thanks for the comment! These are not my final mastering settings for these tracks, but rather quick tweaks for demonstration purposes that still sound pretty darn good! You can hear the final settings for both these songs on the artists’ pages. In the video there is a lot of dynamic control going on for that first example in the mid range, and although it sounds pretty transparent for the amount that there is, it might pull down the vocal a little bit, sure! You could play around with the settings more to either bring the vocal further or tuck it down more, absolutely. I think that in the final master my settings were likely less extreme in the dynamic control in the mids. For that example, I was focusing more on showcasing how good it can still sound when pushed hard, and on tightening up the lower end relative to the rest of the track. Hope that makes sense!
...and also please make sure to run your own tests. You can try all our plugins for 14 days at full functionality! www.plugin-alliance.com/en/products/tomo_audiolabs_lisa.html
I have been searching for the track and I can't find it on iTunes or on TH-cam for some reason. Anyway, I downloaded it and tried it out! First impressions... It made my track sound open and more three-dimensional. The only thing I noted was the CPU usage. I have an older machine so until I upgrade later this year I took pride in the fact that I could run a stem mix project at 96kHz with Plugin Alliance plugins without any concern. AMek 200, SOMA, True Peak Limiter, Shadow Hills Compressor, Alpha compressor on my main bus and no problems... I don't think I would be able to with this masterpiece. It's time for me to upgrade. It sounds AWESOME!
The audio of this video, in my speakers here, really doesn't do this justice. After using it on a few things I'm very satisfied and impressed. It seems to impart liveliness in a way that sort of challenges one to question their hearing. I mean, closing one's eyes and seeing if it really makes as much difference as it seems. But after a few tries at this I came away being certain that I like it. If you want a very analog sounding bloom, and particularly effortless brightening without harshness, this could be for you.

I don’t think there is a dynamic EQ like this in the bundle yet, and I don’t think FabFilter or anyone else has a dynamic EQ laid out like this one either. Please correct me if I’m wrong!
I hear ya. Personally, I consider the analog-style layout a feature, not a bug. There’s a ton of dynamic EQs out there like that already that are so visually driven. This one is a bit more ear-driven. A lot of us like a knob-based approach. (At least some of the time!) It’s a totally different way of working, more intuitive and musical to some of us, and part of the reason some of the Plugin Alliance tools are so popular. I’m glad both kinds of layouts exist. But they didn’t for dynamic EQs! …until now. It’s just another great option, and I had fun working with it.
