4:09 bradley says... "If i could write more songs like that to make more people at least get off their butt and think about something ya know, id write more..." Damn man, i hope he's looking down on all of us and sees how much inspiration he gave to an entire new genre of music he helped create for real
Sublime never set out to be the Worlds best band so to the lazy boy behind the screen critics out there they just wanted to have fun playing music. I say they did exactly that and their music is just fun to listen. It isn't pretentious or broody and most of all it capture Southern California to a T. I saw them at this Warped Tour in Carson California. It turns out that Sublime much like Joy Division is a band whose popularity didn't hit till after 40oz till Freedom was released and by then Bradley Nowell had passed away. So the majority of the USA and World never saw them live. I can say that because I am from Los Angeles Sublime was very popular local band and I was lucky to be there.
It makes me so sad to think sublime would probably of made so much more music if Brad Nowell was still alive with Rome just isn't the same like many artists before him he was a depraved soul who left us far before his time RIP Brad Nowell
I would have been 5 years old if I had a chance to see sublime before brad died. I love sublime with every inch of my soul; it's crazy how great music lives on.
Out of every deceased celebrity/musicians/public figures, Bradley Nowell makes me the most legitimately sad. What a genuine, infectious spirit that guy had. And an incredible voice. Could sing anything and it’ll be great
How Brad seems to be looking out for someone, i notice him turning around often. Its sad to say but you would never know he had an addition. At lease for me, that is.He seems like a great friend. And funny, They all were like best friends of course. I see with new Rome, the biggest dude really don't care for him, I see this in interviews concerts, etc.No Rome he is not Bradley, but i give him credit for stepping up and i see Rome puts his all in Sublime, hes like a cool dude. But Brads lost was a mistake,Its not a fault it again was an accident. RIP Brad.
They were all addicts. It wasn’t just Brad. I notice people tend to forget that. And the band was a big part of the sound. People give them the short shaft.
also Bug Gaugh was just as important as Brad . most people don't think about this but you can see how Brad and Bud were such a great musical combo.. even tho shit got crazy, Bud made the sound possible and he should get more credit... Brads genius overshadowed the band bc he was the front and we lost him way too soon
You can't discredit Eric Wilson either. If it wasn't for him they wo have never had a place to practice. Also He's a fantastic bass player. The 3 of them were a team, and Brad was the leader
All I can Say is its really sad hes gone. I went and seen Badfish a month ago and i was happy with what I heard. I was 19 when Brad died and now I'm 31. I have listened to them for 15 yrs. Rest in peace Bradly, and thankyou for Badfish. I wish it was you, but your music will live on forever!!
i was born in 91, i discovered them after he died though, only because my sister loved them (whos 22), then i became to love them when i was about 14. There my favorite band ever, i would do anything for a chance to see them =/
this interview with them really shows how real they were as people. that has to be one of the high points of Sublime and why I find it so easy to respect them as a band, despite the fact that I don't know them, obviously. :)
I would've killed to see this band, sadly I was only 2 when Brad passed, I also live in London so that don't help, R.I.P Brad and Lou Dogg, Sublime have helped me so much, thanks :)
Im from Venezuela and I had the Awesome Luck to see Sublime in South Florida Warped Tour 1995 the Band was delay and finally they performed unplugged Brad was very high on H with a cooler full of cold Ice beers i remember the heat of agost and bradley smyle when hundrend of joints were light up they kick ass playing only acustic, nobody in my country believe me that i actually saw them live,i pray for bradley and ask him for helpfrom beyond when growing marijuana
This video is awesome. i really wish i could have gone to this back in 95. sublime is really what music is all about. amazing instuments, amazing vocals and lyrics that helped shape me into what i am today. whats really funny is sublime got temporarily kicked off this tour because of brads dog. LOL
@89Audio Well put brother. Brad may have sercum to the heroin talent killer but he will always live on in the spirit of his music and in the heats of everyone who misses him deeply.
Lyin' in my plastic bed... I'm a Gulf War baby, so by the time I'd learned to love music and wanted to meet him, my hero was already dead... one day I'm gonna lose the war....
Brad was so happy, but I guess that's what happens when you finally get recognized as a band. Too bad I was too young to go see them in 1995. I would have been there.
Every other Ska band at the time back then when it was popular was too commercial these dudes were like a Skai jam-band they mixed a lot of different flavors they were very original and all the ripping off they did and Brad was a musical genius in his own respect
I gave up foose ball the day i heard he passed. I used to smoke/drink/play ridge racer everyday, since that horrible day my life changed, now Im a firefighter with a wife and kid... funny how things work out. Music died for a while
They are just being themselves. I like that they dont try to change for the media. Besides that they are all probably ripped as well...Plus they prob dont have much experience with interviews since they were somewhat new..
@jabronie1000 Because they knew what was up, and weren't trying to be anything spectacular, They were just making music for the love of it. Good shit, bro. Right?
yeah I guessed it was that. but the stp video was out I didn't know if they played that on MTV a lot. and I know hahah Ron Jeremy brought them out on stage multiple times like the house of blues and the Kroq weenie roast
@xpaladoshes Caffeine's effect doesn't wear off after a while. You can still keep drinking the same amount everyday and get the same effect. With Marijuana, you eventually have to start smoking more and more to get the same effect as you did yesterday, and eventually, when you smoke too much of it, the only way to get that effect again is by going to a more extreme drug.
You don't have to wait. Long Beach Dub All Stars is Bud and Eric together. Listen to them, they're good. They don't try to be the same as they used to be, so don't expect a Sublime clone, but for what is is, it's good.
The guitarist from baddish is the front man from Scotty don't. When Bradley died the remaining members of sublime supported badfish as the best cover band. He sounds just like him! A lot of the same energy too. I saw badfish live. So it's you guys who are wrong @OOGBERs whatever your name is. Your right he would be a cool add on
i went to warped tour this year... and i felt so out of place it wasnt a good experience for me xD oh well there might be a warped tour going on up in the sky we will all see it one day
R.I.P Brad. You're forever missed, bro.
4:09 bradley says... "If i could write more songs like that to make more people at least get off their butt and think about something ya know, id write more..."
Damn man, i hope he's looking down on all of us and sees how much inspiration he gave to an entire new genre of music he helped create for real
This was when warped tour actually had good line ups with good music!!
Sublime never set out to be the Worlds best band so to the lazy boy behind the screen critics out there they just wanted to have fun playing music. Liliana Vasquez come on guys just enjoy his music

Liliana Vasquez LBC
What?
Sublime changed my life in the best way. Get me off of this reef.

F**kin heroin bro.
It makes me so sad to think sublime would probably of made so much more music if Brad Nowell was still alive with Rome just isn't the same like many artists before him he was a depraved soul who left us far before his time RIP Brad Nowell

This is the ultimate Sublime. I love it.
things are so casual in this video and that's what get me. R.I.P.
I wish i would have known him ....
Brad was pretty charismatic. Seems like a frontman
definitely. He had that Scott Weiland / Jim Morrison Cali cool frontman vibe
also Bug Gaugh was just as important as Brad . most people don't think about this but you can see how Brad and Bud were such a great musical combo.. even tho shit got crazy, Bud made the sound possible and he should get more credit... And can’t forget about Marshall Goodman! Drummer on most of the 40 oz to freedom album and the mastermind behind “doin time” among many others!
bradly seemed like a kool as bro to be around and R.I.P wish he never had to leave . his music lives on always and forever
@89Audio hell yeah man. i still were a sublime beanie to this day. i listen to there songs so much its crasy.
And now you’re 46. Are you still alive.
Just turned 47, and im still Kickin, lol. Super stoked that Jakob Nowell is playing with bud and eric!! Sublime Forever!!!@ExcitedAnacondaSnake-hg8ec

I just saw Badfish live and i can tell you that Sublime lives!!! Brrrropp!

werd, i was born in '92 && never heard of sublime. But Brad died then for a reason. But it would've been amazing to see Sublime then.
It saddens me that I was never able to meet this guy. :( R.I.P. Bradley Nowell

Bradley was one of a kind, a genuine person, even with his chaotic lifestyle.
This video is awesome. i really wish i could have gone to this back in 95. sublime is really what music is all about. amazing instuments, amazing vocals and lyrics that helped shape me into what i am today. whats really funny is sublime got temporarily kicked off this tour because of brads dog. LOL

RIP Brad.... a true legend
damn this is so old. it's pretty legendary.
@89Audio Well put brother. Brad may have sercum to the heroin talent killer but he will always live on in the spirit of his music and in the heats of everyone who misses him deeply.

they were living THE life and Bradley still is up there with Lou Dog.
Brad was so happy, but I guess that's what happens when you finally get recognized as a band. Too bad I was too young to go see them in 1995. I would have been there.
Oh man, I can't even explain how sad it makes me to see how awesome warped tour used to be when I compare it to today's Warped Tour.
and Eric Wilson will be bangin' up there.
Every other Ska band at the time back then when it was popular was too commercial these dudes were like a Skai jam-band they mixed a lot of different flavors they were very original and all the ripping off they did and Brad was a musical genius in his own respect

Who knows what would have happened, or what they would have done musically. All I'm saying is I'm glad they went out on top.
Little did she know, she was interviewing future LEGENDS!
i wish i would appreciate their music alot more than i am dissapointed in bradly's addiction and early death.

He was also never on heroin 24/7. He would indulge and then try and get clean many times and the cycle goes on.
Gone to soon !
Brad Nowell is such a beautiful soul.
My three are...
1 - Bradley Nowell
2 - Jim Morrison
3 - Kurt Cobain
@iplayguitar420 Actually, this year had 12 or so reggae bands. was a great time.
You don't have to wait. Long Beach Dub All Stars is Bud and Eric together. Listen to them, they're good. They don't try to be the same as they used to be, so don't expect a Sublime clone, but for what is is, it's good.
true that.
Went from a legend to Rome.. smh
