Hi Paul. Thank you for this video on Vivid. I got a real fright today when I lost a big website due to a stupid error I made on C Panel. I decided to immediately consult your YT channel since your are my number 1 resource for anything Wordpress. I used Duplicator in the past but lately I have problems with files being too big and the PRO version is too expensive. I will use this in future and backup to Google Drive - scheduled of course. I did manage to get my website back that I messed up due to my own stupidity via the C Panel. I've learned a valueable lesson today and thank you for introducing Vivid Backup. You are an excellent and very knowledgable teacher!
I used this plugin to migrate my woocommerce site from my local host (desktop computer) to an online hosting company. This plugin was the only one that worked and it was easy. Only extra step I had to take was update my permalinks. If you dont know what your doing (like me) this is the one you want.
Thank you Paul! I have tried it - backup from DEV enviroment in sub domain and restore in right place - without migration - works well! I have to change only settings for upload files and whole site is in new target place. Other plugin for backup refused to cooperaye because of 200MB limitation... your videos are super!

How do you WPVivid compares with UpdraftPlus (free version) for restore and back up features? I use Updraft to back up to Google Drive. For migration I use All-in-one-Migration plugin; How to you think the migration features of WPVivid and AIOM stack up? Great food for thought video, as usual.

Thank you for the tutorial. I tried the backup and restore function to move my Website to a staging site. This doesn't work. But, it worked with the migrations functionality. Great! Why didn`t it work with restore functionality? I clicked the Change URL button since the staging site has a different name.
Hey Paul! 8:25 > You say that we can download any backup from within WPVivid. Does the file come from our server or from the remote storage? Because if it comes from our server, backups will take a lot of space over the time (unless we can configure the plugin to delete them automatically after the transfer to the remote storage). Hi Paul, I get the sense the Pro version wasn't available when this was uploaded... Would be interested to know if you've gone for it. Multi-site ease, white label, incremental backup seem to make it all worthwhile... Good price for lifetime sub. Always hard to know for sure how long these companies will last though.
I'm not too sure to be honest. I don't it was released at the time, but not 💯 sure. I actually grabbed the 100 site LTD a couple of months ago and have since integrated it into my maintenance setup with MainWP. Works great and the auto backup prior to updating themes and plugins is a god send for sure.
@@WPTuts quick q - what do you use for auto installing plugins? i use softaculous but it doesn't include downloaded plugins (like wpvivid pro) only ones on wordpress.org
@@baytech4787 I tend not to autoinstall remotely as I like to have control over the process. But I believe MainWP can manage things like this (not that I've tried). To be honest, the combination of MainWP and WP Vivid Backup Pro is a pretty cool way to manage the whole process of site maintenance and backup/migration.
@@WPTuts I'm probably asking too much but WPVivid Pro isn't quite as automated as I was hoping - "Global configuration is not available for GoogleDrive due to authorization mechanism （tokens will be expired）. Please get authorization in child-sites " --- I'm trying out Wasabi cloud storage though... Looks promising.
Looks good. For the time being I use Updraft plus with Migrator. IT seems that this plug in free, can do that just as well, perhaps easier for migration> Thanks for sharing.
Quick point on this plugin. I cloned a site and it created a conflict with the first site, It started sharing tags, flavicons and logos with the clone and vice versa. This was in a managed wp site. It also over-wrote my initial login settings and details on the new site. Had big issues to solve and deleted the 2nd site and fixed the 1st

Hi Paul. I'm using this great Plugin for backups to Dropbox. Did you know they have added a Beta version of duplicate image removal to WPvivid Backup Plugin? It detects unused images and allows you to select and delete images you are not using, which speeds up your website and backups. Invaluable for WooCommerce, where you seem to end up with a lot of unused images as you edit pages. WARNING. It's a Beta version which has removed my main cover image and some shop images and Gallery images too, so not great as yet but waiting on updates and bug fixes..
This plugin seems amazing! exactly What I needed! What about migration to localhost and vice versa? how do we do that? are we able to get unique keys from the localhost site and do the migration?
I know this is late, but you unfortunately can not use the automated migrations (with the key). However you can just upload the backup to the new website via the plugin and restore it
What if we work on updating/adding pages/posts in localhost, how to move these additional new pages from localhost to live server without exporting all files from beginning? Can this be done with WPvivid?
I like this but it doesn’t help with one scenario that I had recently.... if the Wordpress site has either been hacked and broken or a theme update has broken the site completely and you can’t access the admin panel... then what... In my case, fortunately I had GoDaddy Prosites and was able to restore a snapshot backup from outside of the admin panel. I didn’t think it would work as it relies on a worker plugin in the background to connect with ProSites backup and the status was Orange not green.. it ran and worked but it was certainly tense. I know I could create a fresh site if needed and restore but it was less than ideal. Do you have any suggestions for this scenario apart from the obvious I have now learnt (test on a separate site before upgrading and don’t let themes have many updates before you update as it could cause a compatibility problem and break site)
WPTuts thanks for the tip... i also tried to the wpvivid plugin you mention but can’t work out how the backup works.... I added wpvivid to both the site and to my MainWP site management. They are connected and can’t see the child site, added the wpvivid to other site and it shows as plugin not installed. I’ve added it and it is just not working. Any clues? Also can’t find option to upload to remote source... I thought it would be a premium feature to upload to maybe a location of theirs but I’m guessing remote upload is completely premium feature?

Hi Paul, just wondered whether you had managed to get this to work with Local by Flywheel? I have made numerous attempts to back up a small site, even removed and re-installed the plugin a few times. I contacted the developers and they say there seems to be an issue with Local by Flywheel at the moment, so just wondered whether you had any issues?
To be honest Andy, I don't use local at all. I found it to be painfully slow so now I use my SiteGround account and make subdomains for everything I work on . Super quick for my purposes.
@@WPTuts I may consider doing that. I have a reseller account with a UK based company , they have "super quick" support when any issues arise but Siteground is so tempting... The reseller account can be lucrative though, my main reason for not having moved to Siteground.
@@AndyDOHD1 that's fair enough. I only use it (currently) as the Dev account for all the tutorials I do. So setting things up takes a couple of minutes but I'm thinking of upping the account to get some of the other benefits to speed up even more.
@@WPTuts A bit off topic, sorry but curious to know what you do for client hosting - feel free to contact privately, as I say I provide through a 3rd party but ssl would be an additional cost plus a dedicated IP. I was quoted by my present host an annual £50 for ssl per client and £100 for initial fee providing dedicated IP and 1st year ssl.

I tried the Pro version of wp vivid today, and discovered that unfortunately the plugin allows you to make a copy of a network of sites, but it doesn't allow you to restore copies of individual child sites. In other words, if a problem occurs with one of the sites in the network, you have to restore the copy of all the sites, not just the one that had problems. So what's the point of having this plugin installed on a network of sites????
Hello, my first backup failed because I accidentally didn't leave enough space in my google drive. Should I de-activate and re-activate the plug-in to do it again, or will that break something?
@@benwehrman login to your Google Drive and remove any files you don't need from there. The plugin should only leave backups in your chosen backup location. That should mean there's nothing else to do but start the backup process again..

i use Backwpup but the option to send backups to cloud storage is not free, so i think WPVivid is a very interesting solution.

It's migrating your website and all associated files, so your theme choice shouldn't impact that. 😁👍

I'd suggest looking at WP Reset and specifically the Emergency Recovery Script feature.

You shouldn't need to deactivate the plugin. Just make sure you have space, remove any partial backups and start the process again.

I am paying a lot for the convenience of Updraft. This might be a no-cost option for me.

Why don't you just use the FREE Updraft version?
David Elstob I found the free version was very limited for site migration. But, I need to do a full analysis to see if this can do the job.

I found I am not able to edit restore via Elementor on the Laragon local server. Reported to wpvivid developers
