    I’m an immigration lawyer and body language, including hand gestures and micro expressions are super important in my practice. All clients lie sometimes because all people lie sometimes, so being very careful about these clues surrounding the essential facts of a case is particularly important. I didn’t go to law school until I was 55, and I’m 63 now, so I think I can confidently say I’m still learning my craft.
    I really appreciate the work you put into your videos and I find most of them extremely informative. I can’t support you on patreon just now, but you will be the first place I put money when I can. I’m sure it does feel like shouting into the void, but really, you aren’t! Keep up the good work and I look forward to more on the mind palace.

      I was watching the video and when he said "take it off the wall, flip it over and on the back would be written..." to realize this guy doesn't know (or didn't back then) a thing about "memory palaces"
      Google "art of memory forum" and go there.

    Do you happen to have a video on deleting information once it's stored? For example if I store a grocery list in my mind palace, and then complete it, it could still be recalled and clutter the mind palace. I know there are methods of deleting unwanted information (I visualize myself repeatedly burning or shredding the information) but I was wondering if there is a more efficient method?

      think of yourself finnishing it. like a rollercoaster will keep on going until it stops and you have finnished the ride!

      The most efficient method yet, is not using the palace for a while.
      You can use 2 to 3 palaces for temporary tasks such as grocery lists.
      Cycle the usage betwen each palace so you can avoid ghost effects(memories)from earlier usage. By cucling tjose you increase the time each palace is not used , and therefore helps you to forget
      The forgetting curve occurs naturally when you dont do repetitions on associations.
      Another strategy for grocery lists, is to make the store as your memory palace. The advantage is that you now also can arrange a short path shopping that reduce impulsive shopping since you minimize your time/exposure in the shop.

    Why not literally construct the mind palace in some kind of program? If you don't have access to architectural programs, you could use a game like Minecraft. In fact, that's a great idea. You could build some kind of city in Minecraft or maybe a theme park in Planet Coaster and thus it is expandable and easily memorable because you can go back and check later to make sure it is well memorised, especially so if you play on a survival server and often move around your base.

    Can you make a video on how to visualize something? I'm trying to make a mind palace but every time that I try and visualize anything, I can only imagine blackness and I literally can't visualize a square much less a palace

      @ObserveYouTube  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Justus Eifler (Autor) I sure hope they can help as well! Memory palaces are tricky buggers. They like to empty themselves if you don't keep a constant eye on them!

    • @bstandsforbuilding5567
      @bstandsforbuilding5567 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Observe I read online that if you store the information in unique and interesting ways it sticks longer. Having creativity is extremely important. If you're trying to remember faces and phone numbers by putting them all in a straight line down a hall way. Good luck memorizing that. Sometimes the best way to memorize is to not put the thing you want to directly memorize in your face. Say one person you want to memorize has big ears. You could put an elephant like dumbo somewhere and you'd memorize them instantly. That's the magic to the mind palace, being able to be creative. Although don't go crazy as to make an entire room dedicated to some bum on the street you randomly see. It'd really stick with you since it's random but you know where I'm going with this.

    • @ObserveYouTube
      @ObserveYouTube  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's completely correct with the creativity being super beneficial! The reason is, is that the strict verbal (words, letters, and numbers) memorization of our brains is usually quite weak. However, the sensory memory can be very powerful. Therefore, if you can create memory triggers with strong sensory ties (sight, taste, touch, etc.) then your ability to access those memories later will be easier!

    Pro tip: if you want to have a video game style mind palace, but don’t have a level or game you know well enough, try building your ideal mind palace on Minecraft or sims, because then you could even build your room and when your not in it, still have virtual access, I also find you memorise something better when you go through building it as you have to think of every little detail

    • @TheOz91
      @TheOz91 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yeah, you can essentially build your own mind palace in the Sims and get instantly familiar with it--and you can immediately use it. Alternatively, you rebuild the place you already are familiar with and you can lay down your journey this way.
      It is best to use a space that you know really well off the bat. Otherwise, it is a memorized palace rather than a memory palace which is more work than necessary. Open world games is the best for this especially if your character has a safe house or a base where you would inevitably spend your time in--you can explore your safe house and it will encode.

    Love this!
    However, I do have some questions that i hope you might ansewr (also posted in your discussion page).
    My main source of information (up until now) were these two webpages (that I may or may not have poured over :) ): litemind.com/memory-palace/ and litemind.com/mental-sanctuary/ . Both ideas appealed to me, and I'm trying to find a way to combine them. What's still confusing me is the whole concept of the mind palace overall - I get the technique, the uses, the applications. But in Sherlock BBC, it was portrayed as a semi-realistic place made of places Sherlock knew well combined together/places he imagined but knew well. And yet others say that you can have multiple palaces, where each palace is a separate list of items you wish to memorize? (for example, I used entering a familiar building to memorize a grocery list - would that be a palace on it's own, because it wasn't connected to this other list (of things I wanted to do) by pegging it somewhere else? Or is that not really mind palace, but just combining images and a list for the ease of memorization?)
    Thank you very much! New subscriber, but already loving your content. Getting ready to delve into research once I finish my current notebook, I've gone full out Holmes.
