How to Deal with Anger - Teal Swan-

  • How to Deal with Anger begins with the understanding of anger and what it is to be angry. Anger is actually more of a response than an emotional state on its own. It is a result of being misunderstood, of feeling threat of harm to ones self. Ironically getting to the root of this anger within oneself may transform the outer world and your relationship with anger.

      Hormones, puberty do play a major role in teenage anger but that doesn't mean you shouldn't help them feel more secure. Hormones is a copout when you decided to just leave them to it and ignore their problems, on the other side to punish that behaviour because "hormones is a copout" is even worse.

    One of the most valuable things I learned from Teal is to move in the direction of suffering rather than run away from suffering. When you embrace suffering, you burn negative karma.

      Don't turn toward it unless you have the tools to deal with the issues you may be raising. That's the problem with untrained people looking to make a buck by amateur therapy. Dangerous is someone brings out issues they are not prepared to deal with. And "the Law of Attraction" is no law at all! It's amateur, culty, gobbledy-talk that has no meaning, no scientific testing, nothing at all--superstition, mythology.

      I recently discovered a young lady who has obviously been around for a while. Andulairah of Earth is her channel. She is real! And despite what you may think about her at first her meditations are amazing. Even those who make great meditations rave about how great hers are. I have found instead of seeking out info on a particular subject, like anger, or whatever, the guided meditations about reaching for higher self, knowing your spirit guides, opening the third eye, will help you with transformation in every area, including anger. If you have been at this a while, I think Andulairah's meditations will help you. At first, I felt a little weird and it is because my mind actually became silent, like a reset button, But for the past few weeks adding her meditations to my schedule have been miraculous helping me remain in a state of loving while dealing with more crap than a person should have to. In her general meditations, she seems a bit far out, but she is so genuine she has opened my mind to places I would not have gone before. She is someone who you want to be friends with, not someone you want to idolize. I was always put off by Osho, so I never really listened there were so many options.Just filling your mind with the Truth will take you out of a desire to seek out subjects on" this is what I am dealing with today" because your whole spirit will start to heal. I recommend Bruce Lipton. I fall asleep listening to these guys just lecturing. Truth is the transforming power over any other teaching. Trust me on that! Best wishes!

      Victoria Springer thanks, I'll check her out.
      I've recently overcome depression, after having it for 15+yrs, and that happened in a similar way to what you're describing- it was a whole shift, not a specific focus. I had an OBE, a kundalini experience and manifested a huge desire in a short amount of time and It was like moving into a new state of being, and the new me was not depressed.
      I'm just having a bit of trouble with residual anger which is why I'm looking it up, specifically. (I learned how to transmute fear and was hoping to do the same wit anger).
      But I think you've reminded me that it's always a whole transformation, moving into a whole new state- so thank you.
      You should try the work of dr joe dispenza too. He's amazing. I'm someone who likes to do everything myself (sometimes to my detriment), so I never idolise spiritual speakers. With dr dispenza's work, he is teaches you how to transform through your own efforts, and there's no suggestion that he's superior/on a pedestal. He speaks about the scientific side of manifestation too, which I love (he's a neuroscientist , biochemist and chiropractor).
      He has lots of interviews on TH-cam and hundreds of testimonials (which are so moving and include a lot of supernatural accounts). You can just type 'dr joe dispenza testimonials' and a huge playlist comes up. His book 'you are the placebo' has helped me so much with a chronic illness I'm healing.
      Gigi young on TH-cam is great too, she's also more like a friend and an equal. She speaks about some of the the more 'out there' spiritual topics and she's the real deal (imo). And Bridget Nielsen, if you like the ET stuff.
      I think when you find teachers who resonate, move you and don't speak down to you, you realise how much 'teachers' like Teal and Osho are lacking :)
      Edit: I think the distinction is empowerment. For me, dr dispenza and Gigi young want to empower and bring everyone to their level, where as Teal and Osho talk down and end up disempowering people.

    Took Notes! - How To Deal With Anger - Teal Swan:
    Anger is where your boundaries exist.
    Anger is saying: “This was a no for me and it happened anyway.”
    You can’t live into your personal truth with no access to anger. You have to go through it.
    Anger results in movement. You gotta use the energy of anger to take action.
    Anger is only a recovery emotion for a powerless state. You’re avoiding the powerlessness - you have to get to the anger first before you can go down. Anger shows you he way. Powerlessness says 'I can’t do anything about it’ and anger goes “you can’t do that forever”.
    When you feel angry:
    * Name it
    * See it as valid and important
    * Take care of it as a crying child
    * Affirm that it’s okay
    * Understanding it requires bravery
    * It’s about admitting to vulnerabilty
    * Anger is about feeling threatened
    * Ask yourself
    * What do I feel so threatened by
    * Why do I feel so threatened by that thing
    * What about that hurt me so bad
    * What am I really afraid of in this situation
    * What need do I have that’s not getting met in this situation
    * When we feel threatened, we feel vulnerable - the question is to what?
    * If your boss yells at you, its fear that you’re not going to progress maybe
    * Just the awareness of the pain hiding underneath the anger takes the edge off the anger
    * Willingness to consciously feel the emotions of anger and go into the vulnerability of the hurt and the fear
    * That is allowing - Anger is a state of resistance and cannot survive in that state
    * Be unconditionally present with whatever arises with these previous steps - sink into them
    * th-cam.com/video/c3V_Gtfr_YA/w-d-xo.html
    * Deep breathing technique:
    * In for count of 4
    * Out for a count of 8
    * Add a holding of your breath in between for count of 6
    * Do this 12 times before resuming natural breathing
    * Put pen to paper and write your anger down expressing your anger completely - helps you get clear about your anger
    * Writing helps mind and emotion unite
    * Catharsis?
    * Anger doesn’t need to be expressed in order to not be suppressed as long as you’re addressing the emotions underneath the anger - the hurt and the fear
    * You don’t need to channel your anger to something else like exercising or working towards a goal - you can release the energy, but you’re avoiding dealing with the feeling of hurt and fear
    * Catharsis is not healing unless it is done in tandem with addressing the real cause of the negative emotion
    * When you address the cause, you don’t feel the need for catharsis
    * Don’t bother with catharsis unless you also plan to address the underlying cause of your anger and create cognitive change
    * Catharsis doesn’t do anything for long term change
    * Can be done in healthy ways
    * Art - when you create art from angry place, it has the potential to pull other people who are in lower states than anger, to a higher place of anger
    * Running
    * Smashing plates and cups
    * Punching punching bags
    * Talk, dance, stretch
    * Cry
    * You’re looking for release
    * Don’t clench your muscles and obstruct the energy - it needs to flow and release
    * When you channel your anger, make that the goal, not channeling to achieve a goal
    * Only you know if you’re avoiding anger or releasing it
    * Only you know if it works for you
    * Turning anger into motivation?
    * Anger is a state of resistance, it clouds our judgement and intuition
    * We make terrible choices from this place of pain
    * We need to act on inspiration - the result of positive emotional states
    * Develop empathy and compassion
    * Try to find similarities between yourself and the person who’s making you angry
    * Try to understand them completely
    * Try to understand the fear and the pain that exists below whatever they’re doing to make you so angry
    * Use music
    * Music is pure vibration
    * By being around it, we’re forced to entrain with the frequency of it
    * If you’re having trouble feeling it - you can play angry music - it gives us permission to let that anger move through us
    * When you’re ready to move past it, listen to music that makes you feel empowered
    * Seek out water
    * Doesn’t matter what form - shower, ice, ocean, river, tap water lake
    * If anger feels like fire within, water is the antidote
    * It purifies us
    * It neutralizes negative energy
    * Pick something that feels better to focus on
    * Something that makes you feel safe and empowered
    * Writing down positive aspects, thinking about aspect of your life that’s going really well
    * Negative emotion is indication that you’re deprived of something you need and want - what is that?
    * What have you realized is unwanted? Knowing this can tell you what is wanted.
    * Sometimes it’s okay to express emotion directly to people
    * Be clear as to why you’re going to do this
    * If its for validation for example, not a good idea
    * Doing this can give ourselves the message that we’re completely there for ourselves, and that we have our own back
    * If this is the case, it’s a very good idea to express it
    * Once we figure out the deep pain and deep fear, we express that to the people we’re angry at
    * It requires bravery
    * It’s the difference between swearing at someone and telling them that what they did made you feel betrayed, etc.
    * Bring someone in to help you process your anger if you can’t do it yourself
    * Make sure that person is experienced with anger
    * Make sure that they see anger as valid and not wrong
    * They have to approve of anger as an emotion to help you work through the emotion
    * You can also bring in a non bias person between you and the person you’re angry with
    * There’s a beauty to anger
    * There would be no anger without free will
    * In anger, there’s an acknowledgment of choice - the best choice is to deal with the deep vulnerability that exists below anger
    * Its not bad and not wrong
    * It’s just a symptom telling you that something is out of alignment
    * It needs love and care and unconditional attention

So many times I sang along to these bands, Korn, Slipknot, ICP, etc... It made me think it was okay to be angry & it really helped release what I was feeling. Even to this day I will play deep heavy bass jams like Evol Intent, Diesel Boy, & other dank drum & bass tracks when I get heated over something. A few minutes in I'm head banging & feeling relief lolol

    Why does society shun anger? Because an angry slave is a revolting slave.
    Why is narcissism and sociopathy encouraged? Because it feeds an abusive society? Why are men taught not to feel emotions? Because by feeling and releasing emotions men heal and lose their violent tendencies and instead become secure in love and fight only for self preservation and freedom instead of being motivated by hatred and control. A society based on love would not come into conflict as we would respect each other and noone would have the need to dominate and control.

      The comments section carries so much golden wisdom as well! All you incredible souls and your vulnerability, transparency and personal contributions.
      Teal: thank you for your core philosophies of validation and integration.
      I have been in introspection for over a decade- starting with ritual sexual abuse trauma from a BDSM and Masonic cult during childhood and working through that wounding.
      I found the core wounds to be invalidation and disassociation. I appreciate that you are encouraging people to embrace and come into contact with their raw emotions . Even that simple experience of personal embrace and acceptance heals so much.
      It allows us to step closer to wholeness with each act of self-acceptance. I am angry when I am not heard - my feelings invalidated - and left to process my emotions alone. For most of my life, attempting the “talking through” emotions or writing them out were primary modes of personal transmutation.
      I have been in a state of deep anger at being invalidated and not being able to express hurt or have clear boundaries both with my family and in my romantic relationships.
      I am beginning to understand that I was trained by my family to disassociate from my emotions - so they could perpetuate the physical and emotional abuses that occurred; without the mirror of pain and forced reflection through a less than “favorable” reaction in a child- they were free to continue the cycle, unchecked. They validated this position of abuse through the “authority” of being “the parent”.
      Thank you for you. Thank you for your pain. Thank you for all of the deeply transmutive work you have done for yourself so you may bring these modalities to the world.

    I needed this today, mindfully tracing the root causes of your thoughts and feelings in each moment can be so exhausting, especially if you haven't done it enough, cause you could stumble on something like an abyss of failed expectations, I truly give you props Teal, I've been feeling all my survival mechanisms getting triggered lately and I've been doing my best to give them each the attention they deserve as they arise, though I still have much to learn about how to properly handle them, I know so many people, myself included who spent so much time relishing in being wounded and trying to see as something beautiful and unique without thinking it as something that could actually heal and change for the better, and I am so sick of not being healed and not giving all those things the attention they deserve, your knowledge is so vast and has already helped me alot, and even helped me out a deeper funk I have been in for years, in such a short amount of time it astounds me, and with real lasting good feelings, when I'm not in internal turmoil to figure things out lol, I don't even know how to thank you for what you have provided, but I want to say thank you none the less, and if you ever needed anything I would try to give it to you, on a side note limp biscuit and tool are totally awesome bands

    It is not often I get truly angry. So when I do get angry I do not know what to do with myself. Angry feels like an unnatural state for me, and now I know why. It is resistant. I am an allowing person in all of my emotions, i usually let myself feel anything and think anything. But for some reason when I get angry I always feel like drinking at the same old hopeless bar (that I never go to anymore). Haha that is how I know - that I am angry.
    Drinking is resisting, anger is resisting. Gosh I must have been super angry all those years I used to hang out at that bar. Notice; all those years. In a state of resistance nothing ever changes. I am just glad I got out sooner than later.

    Really enjoyed this video. Thank you Teal Swan! I used to get angry to the point of damaging people and things very often. I was unhappy with my physical appearance, my confidence was non existent, I felt trapped. I began working out, I found an outlet to channel my anger. The gym is my sanctuary, I know not everyone can use gym the same way i did, but there is something out there for everyone to channel their emotions. Finding out what works is the trick

    Omg, Teal I love you for explaining this so well. My loved one took his life last week. Right now I’m in the anger stage and I have family members attacking me for expressing it, and not even at THEM.
    My loved one stewed and took everything from everyone and look what he did. Fear and powerlessness to the point that he took his life.
    I’ll accept anger, thanks lol🌹

    Very good video Teal. The crush of the holiday season always makes me angry. I go from barely scraping by to, working 10 to 12 hour days. I have to be spiritually grounded or I would crack. A coworker of mine collapsed from the stress. He's the kind of guy that shakes hands, and talks to everyone when he comes in. However, he wasn't dealing with what's under the surface. I alternate between anger, and depression in times like this, but I recognize the value of patience, and staying in the moment.

    After the loss of a loved one, I felt lots of anger. People told me not to grief. Later they told me not to be angry. But each stage has been necessary. I allow myself to experience grief and anger, knowing that eventually it will pass. I won't allow people to invalidate what I feel over the death of my beloved. It's true that now I have to build a new life. Everyone suggested exercise.
