It's a freaking scandal !! They simply used her, with absolutely zero concern for her. You cannot ''punish'' a person for having a bit of weed by making them buy cocaine in large amounts. She was totally set up and it costed her life. So super sad.

      @alyssahamlett ปีที่แล้ว

They do this everyday w every bust. They're not usually so stupid to make you go ask for things. You're not normally getting, but they try to flip every drug user. The police are legally allowed to lie to you to use you and abuse you for their benefit. That's why people say don't talk to the police. Cause they're not there to help you. They can't make any recommendations to the judge. That's not how it works.

But from what we know Rachel was a pretty steady low time dealer who sold to her college buddies and apparently classmates I guess to, and that isn't cool, I know she had fun and was the dealer around town for the college crowd, but she didn't live a clean life so when you get pinched, with more than just a couple of dynamics, and we know that she had a pretty good amount when she was pulled over, she got herself into this fix , it's just too bad that the cops gave her too heavy of an assignment and probably just a few stock phrases to use

Thank you for covering this. Rachel was a dear friend of mine. I miss her loving, inclusive heart and her joyful laugh. I just want people to know that she was a regular college student. She was a drug dealer, so think of all the laws that were broken behind the scenes for her own dealers to eventually get their product to her so she could sell to her customers... she was no angel and deserved her sentence as she had more than a lousy dime bag, Rachel had a while operation going on. OK she wasn't selling meth and crack, just weed, but still. Nevertheless the cops didn't need to seems her into harm's way, to penetrate into known dangerous sellers.. they have their own undercover agents

Purple Hatter’s Ball was a festival here in Florida that benefitted the foundation in Rachel’s honor. That’s how I learned about her story. It’s especially sad to me that this happened due to a marijuana charge….meanwhile people are getting rich legally selling it today. It shouldn’t have been a crime in the first place…how many people have we lost to death or prison over marijuana that could have really contributed to our society? Over a plant? Insanity.

My son was at a stop sign in the rural area we live in, he sat there deciding if he wanted to stop in the nearby small store or go on to one down the road. He chose the one just down from him and as soon as he parked he was blocked in by a jump out boy who thought he sat at the stop sign a bit too long. He was asked about that and my son told him what he was doing.
He allowed them to search the car. His sister’s car. The jump out boy found a cigarette pack under the passenger seat that had a roach in it. He had just dropped off a friend a bit earlier. That friend had left this behind. The jump out boy had a solution to avoid a drug charge. He wanted my son to give up dealers or drug house locations.
My son told him he had no clue about any of those things because he didn’t do drugs. He told him he didn’t know anyone that would have that info. He was told ”I’m sure you’ll come up with something”.
I sent him to an attorney who the checked the car and with that and the information of that nights interaction he told him not to worry. Needless to say, this all went away as soon as the attorney contacted law enforcement.
All this to say that law enforcement will twist and turn things to their advantage without any thought to you or your liberties. Always, always contact an attorney. Always.

Ugh I'm sorry you and your son dealt with this. I was blessed to only have good experiences with law enforcement where I grew up in NJ. But when I moved to NV I was in for a rough awakening. I have more than ten awful interactions but yours reminds of one specific time. My best friend and I were just chilling in a Wendy's parking lot in her car, listening to music and eating frosties together. A little ways down the street a fight broke out on a bus and the cops were called to it. We decided to head out so we wouldn't get in their way and were slowly backing out of our parking spot when a cop car totally bypassed the bus and pulled a crazy maneuver to block us in. He then pulled us out of the car at gunpoint and I was so close to the cop that I could see his finger was already on the trigger. Everyone watching was screaming to him that it wasn't us but he just stood there yelling at us, ready to shoot. And then he just ran away towards the person involved in the fight that now had gotten a huge start.

Just some general feedback. I might be in the minority but I thought I'd just mention it: I am not a super fan of the preview in the beginning of videos. Not because I don't want "spoilers" or anything, but I always try to keep an open mind and hear everything out. And some times the previews kind of set the tone of what you should think right away. I don't know. I guess most cases aren't covered in a neutral way or anything, cause it shouldn't be usually! But I still thought I'd take the time to say at least how one viewer feels about it. At this point I always try to skip the beginning, just to not see it. But I guess your analytics can tell if most people watch it or not.. I dont know.

I have seen people lose everything through addiction to many things : weed, alcohol, heroin etc but in general those that are addicted to weed/use weed don’t need to be put in the situation that Rachel was *forced* into …

The chief saying she deviated from the plan? She thought they were following her and listening. Acting like she was some kind of criminal. The ridiculous statements by the police chief focusing on her and not their complete, udder incompetence!! She was never convicted of a crime

And we could also argue that the police themselves deviated from the plan since their equipment failed, which was not part of the plan. Their incompetency is astounding.

It's really shocking how little police departments are held accountable for the crimes they often commit, but if everyday people do the same crime we're jailed for life (or worse). Crazy. It's literally their JOB to follow the law. They should know it like the back of their hand if they're aloud to carry a damn gun! Weird. Every single one of them set that young woman up.

This is the most ridiculous police department story I've heard . I'm in shock at the lack of safety and regard for this girl. This is just so ridiculous, she should have been trained at least but they shouldn't have ever had her involved with drug dealers like that. What a Dammn shame on this police department. This is absolutely disgusting. I will pray for this girls family. I can't imagine the pain they've felt because of this .

Of course she was coerced. We don't threaten people he says --- oh bullcrap, that's ridiculous. Of course they are threatening her with prison time and the prosecutor was not even in on deciding. The prosecutor isn't even required to follow any deal the police offered her if she had completed this and survived, it could be all for nothing. I've seen that happen, someone told if they do x they won't get charged and then the prosecutor says I wasn't informed and I don't agree AFTER the person already took the risks

I’m so sorry that this happened to you Rachel. RIP 💜 I hope your family can find peace again one day.

They often don't tell the prosecutor and manipulate people to "cooperate" and make "deals" the police actually have no authority to make - the police don't get to decide on charges
