I’ve made cakes like this with sparkling water so they aren’t as sweet cause the cake mix is sweet enough for my taste. I also put a little icing on when the cake is still warm so it has just a little glaze on it.
I’m from MO which is considered a “Southern state” and I’d never heard of this cake! Thanks for bringing the South to us via Canada! Can’t wait to try this cake! Btw, “pop” is what we call it in central MO. 😊 Love your channel! ❤️
My grandmothers both made 7-up cakes. Easy and lovely. The Jemima code is an amazing history lesson. It’s more like a photo documentary with old advertisements and recipes, it’s really beautiful and informative.
I’ll be right over for a piece! Lol My home State Missouri … we called it Soda! Moved to Alabama and call it Pop … don’t ask in a store where the Soda is! 😂 I have made a Coca-Cola Cake with icing before! And oh my word what a delicious cake …. best I have ever had! Made lots of cakes and muffins with Pie fillings … Spice Cake and mix with Pumpkin Purée for delicious muffins … dump in a bowl … mix … put in muffin tin and bake! Very good! But haven’t made much here lately! Enjoyed your vlog … didn’t know there was vegan cake mix! Really enjoyed vlog! 🌈🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️👏👏👏
I'm from Missouri as well, and I've been making this cake for decades. My friends especially like the chocolate cake with Coca Cola. Glad you've enjoyed it.
My husband was driving back to Alberta from BC and stopped for pizza. He said it was the best crust he ever had and the restaurant owner said it was made with ginger ale! I bet the cake is delicious and glad you found a vegan mix☺️
Many thanks for another great video 👍. We also call it 'pop' here in the UK. I've made chocolate cakes years ago using dandelion & burdock, sarsaparilla (legacy of the temperance movement, and there are still some temperance bars in the UK) , and iron bru pops. Vimto pop would also work well in a chocolate cake. There were some great cake recipes that came about during WW2 and afterwards before rationing stopped. Seems like there is a resurgence of these old recipes.
Looks delicious light and fluffy....and so easy and yes...have one ready and a can of pop...as we call to in the UK....always handy ...just in case day ....😋😋😋
I would love to try this with Cheerwine! Cheerwine is amazing and I wish it was more widely available. It's a cherry soda but has its own unique taste. Enjoy! 🎂
OK I’ve got a serious sweet tooth so I’m gonna make this this weekend. This cake looks similar to an angel food cake so I’m going to top it w/fresh berries.🫐🍓😋 BTW, I’m from Chicago & we call soda “pop” too.🥰
Hi Adelina - I was so hungry for this cake that I actually made it using what I had on hand - a Duncan Hines Butter Golden mix and Sprite. Well, I did not care for it so I tried the cake with some Duncan Hines Cream Cheese Frosting. The icing added an artificial taste. I then tried whipped cream and it was great. I will try Coco Cola next time and see how that works. Thanks for the recipes and your enthusiasm and inspiration. Bob
:) WOW! I never heard of this, and I lived in Texas for 16 years! I am sure my Grandson would love it, sweets are not my good for me anymore, but it looked GREAT! THANKS for sharing and I still call it Pop :) Still CDN... ALL the BEST and Cheers! :)
Soda-pop cake! 😉 Don't tap spoon/utensils on edge of pan...don't want any of bubbles to burst. Also don't tap bottom of pan against counter for same reason. Also, cutting into un-cooled cake will cause steam to escape, often causing cake left in the pan to fall...FYI
Interesting. I may try it! Have you ever heard of “tomato soup cake”. Yes. Yes…I know it likely sounds really yucky. But it is NOT yucky. It is sooo good. It is a spice cake. Add raisins and walnuts…or not. Cream cheese frosting. It is delicious! You can google the recipe.
Hi Adelina, I love watching your videos. Your recipes are great and I already made some of them. I wanted to ask you about this beautiful blue bowl you are using all the time. Where could I buy it, does it have a name or a producer? Greetings from Croatia, Europe😊
Hello! I'm so glad you're enjoying the channel ☺️. Unfortunately I've had that set of mixing bowls so lone I don't remember where I got them. I believe I got them at a local home goods store. I wish I could help. Thanks for watching ☺️
I have always wanted to make a soda cake always wondered if the cake would take on the flavor of the soda or take on the color of the soda for instance orange grape Coca-Cola or would that not make any difference and it would just takes like vanilla cake or whatever flavor cake you chose? Also thought it would be cute with a little dollop of Cool Whip or sprinkles some confectioners sugar on top or maybe even a teeny dollop of jelly or Jam. But now watching how easy it was I really need to stop procrastinating
First of all, if you haven't tried something before. I can see why you would get excited. I have never heard of soda cake , but I have heard of soda bread. Long time ago, they use to put cocaine in a syrup. That they made coke out of. Use to use it as medicine. Then sell it in soda fountains , after they stopped using it as medicine. The Coke head quarters is in Atlanta. I went through it ,it was interesting. You got taste Coke from different countries. Southern Living is a good magazine. The South is pretty good, but I was born and raised in the South.🤣🍑 Have a good week 😊😺
Can not believe it! Guess what I saw on pinterest today?! Cake made out of ONLY an angel food cake mix & whole 20 oz. can crushed pineapple (incl. juice) ! Said to not beat...only mix with spoon. Bake @ 350°F for 30 min. That's it. Because of egg whites in the mix, not vegan but is vegetarian. 👍

That was crazy…I have a cake mix in my pantry trying this immediately lol.😂
That looks so yummy !
Great recipe to whip together when unexpected company drops by. A topping of fresh tart berries might be good!
Yes, its perfect for last minute.
I’ve made cakes like this with sparkling water so they aren’t as sweet cause the cake mix is sweet enough for my taste. I also put a little icing on when the cake is still warm so it has just a little glaze on it.
Sparkling water is brilliant! I'm going to try that.

Thanks 😁
I grew up first in Southern Illinois near St Louis. We called it “pop” too. 😊 I’m gonna try this too but not with stevia.
I hope you like it 😊
Hi Adalina in England they call it pop too
😁
We used to make a 7 UP cake and top it with a powdered sugar icing. So good. I love Zevia and my favorite Zevia is the creamy root beer!
I've never tried the root beer flavour ☺️
We call it pop in the uk too x
😁
This reminds me of making beer bread, where you add a can of beer to a beer bread mix!
Yeah, beer would do the same.
Adelina, you are so cute in your natural way of presenting your videos. Thank you for keeping it real. Cheers.
😁
OMG, never heard of this thing before, will have to try...thanks for the info, stay safe!
😁
I never heard of this either and I can’t wait to try.....we love cake around here...thanks for sharing...💁🏻♀️👏😍

Have lived in the deep south for 45 years and never in my life heard of this! I will try, thanks for sharing.

I'm looking forward to trying that one too.
I tried the spice cake mix w pumpkin too. It was okay but heavy. This seems like a better recipe. 😊 Thanks
I’m also from Iowa. I have never heard of this recipe. But definitely trying it. Thank you.
😊
I'm from the south. I have heard of these cakes but have never made one myself.
😊

Yep! I’m from SC and I’ve made these a bunch!!❤️😊 Aren’t easy and fun?
So much fun.
I would love to try this with Cheerwine! Cheerwine is amazing and I wish it was more widely available. It's a cherry soda but has its own unique taste. Enjoy! 🎂

It had a very similar texture to angel food.
I have lived in different parts of the USA. Pop in MI and Soda in CO. I remember my mom making the cake with 7 up.
😁
I'm from Tennessee and grew up with Coca Cola cake. Wow, I haven't thought about these in years and now I want one!
😁
This was great! You were so excited it made me laugh! ❤
🤪😁
It is interesting what all people call soda/pop/coke around North America/the world.
Kari🌞
Isn't it though! 😁
Awesome!

I have never had soda cake, but I have had Irish soda bread 😊
😁
Fun video! Have seen devils food cake mix with Coke, but not a yellow cake made with soda.
☺️
Omg, that looks so gooooooooood!❤
😁
I'm from New Orleans originally but I haven't heard of 'soda cake'. But I am interested in trying this with lemon lime soda (pop).
😁

@@myBIGtinyhouselife thank you so much for your answer, maybe I will find something similar😊🤗
😊
Needs some maple syrup! Looks good!
💕 & Hugs!
LOL. It was actually very sweet already because of the pop. Next time I might just use club soda.
❤
😁

The pop flavour does make a difference. Lots of possibilities.
Yes! Drizzle some corresponding melted jam over top... & dollop of whipped cream too. 😋 Marmalade/orange crush.... Berry jam/chocolate cake.
Yum!😁

Soda bread is a quick bread that uses baking soda (not soda pop) instead of using yeast.

Also. 😝🤩🥳💃🏾✊🏾😅✨I have also Seen This made with Some sort of crust Base A few Times. 🙋🏾♂️🧚🏾♂️🤗🤭.
Well how about that?! I have never had this kind of cake. It looks pretty light and fluffy. We call it pop and soda.
☺️
I always thought you used Sprite in these cakes.
Apparently it depends on the flavour of the cake 🤷🏻♀️😁
Nehi made RC cola and other flavers.
Ahhhhhh, thank you for explaining that 😊.
