Part 1: • The Six Wives of Henry...
Part 2: • The Six Wives of Henry...
Henry VIII is one of the most famous kings in English history. He is renowned for his voracious appetites - for food, wine, power and women. During his 38 year reign he went through 6 wives and for them triggered seismic changes in the religious and political landscape of the nation. But who were the women for which this larger-than-life monarch’s passions ran hot and cold? And who were they before, and in some cases after their fates were in the hands of this fearsome King? Here are the stories of the six wives of Henry VIII.

Who knows what would have happened to Jane if she didn’t die in childbirth
Tbh these women had more interesting personality than the King Henry himself
It's because the wives had to work and suffer for what they got, and that kind of thing builds characters and forces you to be smart and strategical, while Henry VIII just got everything handed to him. Like many historical kings, he was a spoiled brat who grew up to be a tyrant who couldn't take the word "no".
I agree.
And yet I have to learn about him... Smh

Henry VIII was absolutely mad to suggest that Anne of Cleves was ugly.
Holbein being an artist may have over emphasized Anne's looks something Henry understood after seeing her. There's another portrait of Anne by Barthel Bruyn the Elder that be a closer representation. The real beauty in her family was her sister Sybilla who was married to John Frederick I Elector of Saxony.
@@einezcrespo2107 yeah, but it's Henry VIII we are talking about. If it was really exaggerated, Holbien's head would have been up on a spike with Cromwell's. He still painted the royal family after that. It's pretty obvious it was just because Henry's ego was wounded.
Einez Crespo people who wrote about Anne Cleves Said she was beautiful

She was always my favorite. They make it out like we should feel sorry for her because Henry didn't like her looks. But she was probably good looking and he simply hated her reaction to him (we all know a sour-grapes guy like that). In the end, she dodged a bullet; she didn't die at his hands, and never had to sleep with him. Also, that wedding ring line - "a thing of no value" - makes me love her more.

I'm still not convinced that Catherine Howard actually had an affair after her marriage to Henry. And I don't think she freely went along with all the other stuff. She was a beautiful teenage girl who was taken advantage of against her will multiple times. Her story breaks my heart.
there was definitely a big chance she had romantic and sexual relationships against her will. also she wAS abused most likely sexually by thomas (the courtier). ALSO. THERE. WAS. A. LAW. MAKE. SPECIFICALLY. TO. HAVE. HOWARD. FOUND GUILTY. she was also in her teens when all of this happened.
I am 100% she was raped and molested, but who will believe a teenage girl?
SAACHI CHAKRAVARTY
This is called the male privilege dear .
At it’s highest in the 1500’s .
Well, she did, but not willingly. During the marriage her cousin, Thomas, blackmailed her to make love to him. She hated him after that, and she tried to tell the king but he didn’t believe her. Fortunately he took no notice to the way she was acting around her cousin (at that time). So then when the king finally noticed, he was INFURIATED! He made laws to find her guilty to behead her out of rage. There is no proof of this, but there is a rumor that before she was beheaded, she was begging for her life. The king wouldn’t listen, and I think (a conspiracy of my own) that a friend of hers, that she was very close too, told the king but was too late because she was held back by the guards. The king didn’t believe the friend, but then more friends of Catherine shared the same story and he believed them. Then he regretted what he had done. But moved on, he was still sad and angry which is probably why he treated Parr with such disrespect.
It was romantic but really rapy

The "rose without a thorn" was actually a reference to Henry himself, not Katherine. The expression was used on his "crown of the rose" coins that were struck during 1526, obviously way before he met her. The coins were inscribed in Latin, translating to "Henry a dazzling rose without a thorn". He was quite full of himself, to be sure.

Katherine Howard was more like a sister to Elizabeth I. Her death was one of the reasons why Elizabeth I refused to marry considering that even a queen cannot be spared from execution. In modern times, Katherine Howard would be called an abused child.
Anne B probably had a big HA in henry's face when her daughter became such a great ruler

Holy Namjoon give jimin some jams Army and horrible histories ? Best combination I never knew I needed
Catherine of Aragon was one, she failed to give me a son
I had to ask her for a divorce, that broke her poor heart of course
Catherine Howard was not killed in one swing. The axeman actually missed the first time and hit her near the base of her neck, where her shoulders are. He took off her head on the second swing
Actually that was Mary Queen of Scotts and it was three swings. Because Katherine had practiced positioning her head all night the executioner was able to cut her head off with one swing.
I always thought that Anne of Cleves was quite pretty in her portrait. The prettiest of them all, as far as the portraits proved.
She was the prettiest she just broke Henry’s ego and he just made it seem like she was ugly because he had that much power so people believed it
@@juliaansimbx Absolutely!
I personally think Jane was the smartest of all the queens. She pushed her luck w/ Mary and the "pilgrimage of grace" incidents, but she knew Henry and she knew when to back off. She knew well what Henry would and wouldn't tolerate in a wife. She was good at being meek and mild, even if it hid an inner reserve of strength. I think she would have been very good at subtly manipulating Henry into doing what she wanted him to do. She would have played him like a fiddle had she survived giving birth to Edward VI.
Another Person who sees how Clever Jane was
" Jane Seymour the only wife that didn't live long enough to piss him off ." I died 😂😂😂😂
Considering what he did to Anne Boleyn, Cromwell’s death was poetic justice.
Also, Anne of Cleves sounds awesome
Anne of Cleves is clearly one of the smartest of all of henry's wives. She was level headed and wise enough to know that she could never resist the King's demand for a divorce, and as a result, she was very well rewarded.
The fact that she was also so well regarded by Henry later after their divorce shows that she really was not just smart and realistic but a kind and generous woman.
Sadly in terms of the wives, Anne of Cleves is almost always regarded as a little more than a footnote.
Ohh so this is how Elizathbeth the first came to be. I only remember learning about her relationship with her stepsister and wondered why they had such family troubles. It’s really no wonder...
