  • This video details the typical build sequence of a Factory Five MK4 Cobra kit car from kit delivery to licensing. The video also details custom modifications & additions I chose to make. Some parts I used for my build
    * Ford Explorer 5.0 H.O.
    * Tremec T5
    * GT40P cylinder heads
    * Ford 8.8" solid rear end axle
    I hope this video shows the average DIY'er they can take on a project like this and succeed! Leave me a comment and let me know what you think and thanks for watching!

    Good Lord that is a nice fucking car! Man I love the all red. Stripes look cool too, but a solid color for these is best in my opinion. Damn man, damn that's beautiful! I also love the large white writing on the tires.

    Very good. I installed my engine/trans alone in my FFR Daytona Coupe. Have done this many times, however in these chassis, no room for error, another set of hands would have been nice. Only thing I don’t like here is the HEI dizzy. Mine took me 5 years from delivery to license.

      If i could go back in time, i likely would have taken a different path on ignition. I wanted to keep it simple (eg- no coil) - but the HEI turned into a nightmare on its own. I had to buy an offset air cleaner for clearance then the base hit the carb! Had to then machine an offset spacer to raise up the air cleaner then it hit the hood! Also - the Chinese knockoffs have NO slop with the bottom bushing and its a forced seat on the block platform -bad bad bad- had to machine to distributor housing to fix it -but- even the MSD higher end offerings either hover over the platform (bad) or have the same clearance issue. Duraspark would have saved me a lot of trouble -but- its Duraspark :)

      TacoJoe yea Duraspark...the best I can say about that it is wired correctly for a proper ignition box and coil. I used an MSD dizzy that works with my air cleaner and run a Mallory 6A ignition and coil hidden within the dashboard. I built my engine back in 2007 and ran it in a Fairmont until I installed it in the FFR Coupe. I thought that was going to be the least of my concerns in terms of the build. It took me a full summer to diagnose what turned out to be a bad ignition pick up on said dizzy...Jesus. HEI does work, just looks odd on a Ford.

    I would love to see a build with a 2jz or Rotary. Coyotes have been done at about 900 hp and I’ve not seen a Hellephant crate motor yet.
    This one is just fine 👍🏻

      The 2JZ is a fine motor - big power - might be a challenge to hook all that!

      I bought the basic kit so its the body/frame/some of the suspension/basic lights-seats-interior/etc. The rest i bought over time as i built the car. Check out my FFR Cobra: What's it cost? video and you can see where all the spend went-

    Thats a lot of work, and money, to settle with 300 hp, a coyote 5.0 juiced to 600 hp would have been perfect

    • @TacoJoe
      @TacoJoe  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Coyote is a sweet motor, but a IMHO, a lumpy cam and smell of gas give it extra character / thanks for the comment
