Haze, I love your channel! I love binging your videos, miraculous and personal alike, and I think you’re such a beautiful, smart, and intelligent person, it’s so lovely to enjoy miraculous with a community and, it always feels like we’re having a fun conversation when I watch your videos. Thanks for brightening my days :)

I know im late but I'm so mad about how inaccessible the film was to watch. It literally opened with loads of oversaturated (is that the word?) Shots and bright flashing lights, and it never got any better. The movie was honestly trying to speak to parents/carers etc of autistic people and not particularly anyone else. Not to mention some of the awful scenes in the movie, and an interview Sia had where the interviewer said the nonverbal character 'might as well be an object'. There were so many things wrong with the movie, and as an autistic person I was very offended.

Omg right?!? I hate bright lights, I can barely go outside around midday because of it. Like I avoid light to the point where I now have a deficiency. It was just awful

The relationship Sia has with Maddie is really creepy. Maddie literally broke down crying worried that she was going to offend people, and rather than reevaluating the script, Sia just said “I’ll protect you.” Sia and Maddie have sleepovers, quarantined together, sleep in the same bed- it’s just really gross. Not to mention that Sia has said that she won’t create anything without Maddie. I feel really bad for her.

There are so many awful layers to this situation but you know there’s something wrong when a child can see there’s a problem with it and the adult can’t

To claim Sia is "grooming" Maddie is very gross and simply untrue.

@@DissonantSynth It's just Sia seems to see Maddie as the only person in her whole world. Yeah, she'll include other people in her projects, but they'll mostly just centre around Maddie.

@@aussieman3021 Well, they're sia's songs and videos, and they're *her* vision. So she can cast and work with whoever she wants.
I understand the situation with this movie is different though. In Maddie's defense, she got a 100% accuracy rating for her portrayal by the New York Mind Institute.

@@DissonantSynth Except the rating was done by people who aren't even autistic.

I wrote a massive essay as a comment, but youtube glitched out and ruined it. I'd like to take the time to rewrite it and give my thoughts on your talking points :)

Oh no! Thank you for taking the time anyway! Although it was so long ago that I made this video that I no longer anything I said in it 😅

Speaking of the racism part… they could’ve made a white passing character because this is a thing too. Not an easy fix because that would require more research but they could’ve avoided the blackface by writing the main character as a white passing biracial girl.
Genes are complicated and a biracial child can be much darker or much lighter than the parents.
By the way, that atrocious movie gave me an idea of a sort of rewrite but I need more research so do you know any organizations that are actually useful for researching autism?

Oh gosh honestly I’m not sure! I’d recommend more to be honest of speaking to autistic people for their lived experience with the condition rather than a charity since not everyone who will work for it will be autistic
