  • The complete filmography of all 80 movies in which Gene Hackman appeared, between 1961 and 2004. The video features short clips of each appearance.
Nominated for five Academy Awards, Hackman won Best Actor for his role as Jimmy "Popeye" Doyle in the critically acclaimed thriller The French Connection (1971) and Best Supporting Actor as "Little" Bill Daggett in Clint Eastwood's Western film Unforgiven (1992). His other nominations for Best Supporting Actor came with Bonnie and Clyde (1967) and I Never Sang for My Father (1970), with a second Best Actor nomination for Mississippi Burning (1988).
The title picture is from the trailer of his acclaimed appearance as Harry Caul in the 1974 movie "The Conversation".
The complete list from newest to first appearance (I have identified other actors in the clips as best I could):

A phenomenal craftsman. It's a gift to see his works solidified for future generations to witness.
Can you believe it's been nearly 20 years since he last performed?

Agreed. However we have his œuvre d'art to enjoy - which doesn't age and is beyond time. Let alone 20 years... Warm regards from Poland

Gene Hackman is in a whole other category. He’s a true actor’s actor. His screen presence and his raw emotions is just phenomenal. He never just owns a role, he devours it for breakfast with a side of boss sauce. I hope he makes one more phenomenal movie before he leaves us, go out on a high note!

I miss him so much!! Wish he was 50 years younger so we cld still enjoy his unique personality .. his tough talk .. fearless acting .. signature laugh and just his persona. There's No one who could emulate him. One of a kind ..If ever there was one. Loved him since Popeye!!!

Started off as as a Cagney tribute act and became possibly the best screen actor of all time. Couldn't dance like Cagney but sure as hell could carry off comedy. Legend,

I've never seen an actor like Mr. Hackman - who even for a second was acting at 99%.
With him it is always 100 !

I looked at the thumbnail for this video and was convinced I saw Kevin Spacey with a mustache and some glasses on him.
It didn't even occur to me it might be Gene Hackman.
    How funny is that!

Hackman and Spacey never appeared in the same movie together, but in 2006 Kevin Spacey played Lex Luther in "Superman Returns", a role that Gene Hackman played in the original Superman series.

anybody got all the principal supporting actors in these scenes? .... an impressive list, starting with Telly "Kojak" Sevalas continuing with the NYPD theme with a collector's item *I think* includes S. Epatha Merkerson from Law and Order .... There were some well disguised, it took a while to recognize Jeff Bridges ...

19:40 out of all the scenes in this, why? Man the scene with Freemans torture? Or his death at the end?!!!

Same with "The Quick and The Dead." His best scene their is the "This is My Town!" speech.

I said what's that old man... he says YOUR NOTHIN BUT A PUNK!! LOL well I says oh really and I grabbed him and fed him some kidney shots with a fury... when I woke up I yells my wife about the dream and she said I KNOW YOU WERE KNUCKLING ME IN MY SIDE.. lol Gene Hackman asked for a good beatdown lol

One of the best actors ever! Some of the scenes chosen here are not the most symbolic or best choices for that part/ film ... In No Way Out, the best moment, for ex., is when he's an event, his mistress is somewhere in the crowd, and he's just doing empty talk / diplomacy with some politicians talking to him ... pretending she's not there and that all is cool ... HIs playing saxophone in The Conversation, is great but there're parts like his paranoid digging in the flat for 'bugs' or when he's laconic with his lover etc which are far more demonstrative of his acting prowess! But nice! I didn't even know some of these films .. I don't think he ever played in a bad movie or a flop ...

    • @NZSachse
      @NZSachse  ปีที่แล้ว +1

thank you, Malu, for your comments. It was time-consuming to review all 80 movies, so the 'best' scene was not always found. But each is representative of his on-screen character. As for flop, I think his 'worst' role was in 'A Bridge Too Far' because trying to play a Polish officer simply did not work for me.
