Here is a true story that happened to me yesterday. I'm 15 years old I have a giant schnauzer and a miniature schnauzer my birthday was In June for my birthday I got a swiss army knife with a switch blade in it. Anyway about 2-3 in the morning I'm on my PS4 in my bed room home alone I have both dogs with me and the army knife then the power cuts out. My dogs start growling I didn't think much of it because they have never experienced a power cut before. 4 minutes later the power comes back on and at the exact same time someone knocks on the door it's not my parents because they always text me before arriving home and all my neighbor's are on holiday anyway my miniature starts running down stairs and sniffing under the door meanwhile my giant starts nudging my legs and looking down the stairs I grab my army knife and go with him. My dad who is an ex police dog trainer trained my giant to bite a threat I get both the leads and head out the back door I go round the front and find a note on the step that reads "I will be back later PROMISE we can have some fun then." On the bottom of the note was a still wet bloody finger print. I called the police and they came in an unmarked BMW they called me to say they were at the door. The police me stayed with me for a bit then the power cut out again 4 minutes later it came back on and there was a knock at the door I kept my dogs quiet and the police men went down the stairs opened the door and there was a guy with a machete one police officer tasered the guy. Turns out it was the dad of a friend who got expelled from school he had killed my friend and was planning to torture me and kill me in the interview he said it was my fault that he was expelled and he was disappointed in his son so yeah.

Ok I'm gonna do a story so one time during a summer morning I was home alone watching TV and then I heard knocking and I hear footsteps but then I see my grandpa and he comes to greet me and I asked him what was that knocking and he said I don't know that wasnt me and I'm still freaked out to this day who it was but I'm glad all that suspense just led to my grandpa I was 11 btw

When I'm with my dog I never feel alone, hes been with me since I was 6, which makes me sad because that means his time is... coming to an end... and weird enough, my dog has always given me comfort, so I'm scared of what'll happen when he's gone.

My parents were out of town and my brother was at his friends while I was home alone. Wasn’t expecting anyone or anything. Suddenly, I hear a knock at the back door. There was a hacksaw next to the door that my dad forgot to put away, so I grabbed it and kept it out of view as I answered the door. A man I have never seen before asked “Is [insert Mom’s name] here?”
Keep in mind that I’m autistic, and if we were expecting company, I would know about it. I didn’t know this man.
I asked “Who’s asking?”
The man gave his name and said “we spoke on Facebook.”
I slammed the door in his face and called my mom.
My mom “forgot” to tell me that he was coming that day.
The fact that my mom invited someone she met online over to our house and left me home alone is just unbelievable!
THe man’s story checked out, but my brother and I tore Mom apart verbally after that.

Might sound dumb but when that's a stranger, 1 second of hesitation could get you killed.
Don't hesitate. Just fight and immobilize. If they've got a weapon then go for a part of their body that can majorly harm or kill them.

one day when i got off from school, i unlocked the door and chilled out after a stressful day. my parents usually get home from work a half hour-an hour depending if they got groceries or not, so i was alone. maybe 15 minutes later i was letting my cat outside when i noticed a random black chevrolet truck sitting on the side of the road in front of my house. the man inside had a camera and stared taking pictures of my house and i, so i ran out with my phone taking photos of the truck and his licsence plate as he drove off. i could hear him yelling "shit shit shit!"
long story short, a 12 year old outsmarted a 40 year old creep, because i got a really clear picture of the plate. turns out he was planning to kidnap either me or my sister, and he was operating a cocaine lab. the truck he was using was stolen, along with his identity. hes in prison for 25 years or so.

My dogs would kill anything that comes into my house without my family or me knowing they were there. Also I had a random ambulance come to my house, and just park in front of my house for about 15 minutes then leave, it was weird af
i was home alone and was waiting for my boyfriend. i was minding my own business, watching tv and heard the front door open and a man, looking exactly like him walked into the kitchen then down the hall into the bathroom and even turned the light on and closed the door, and when i grabbed one of my swords from my wall over my bed, i walked down the hall quietly and opened the bathroom door and the light was off and no one was in the bathroom. it was scary as shit because as i left the bathroom my boyfriend knocked on the door and i scared the living shit out of him because apparently he seen someone walk into the house that looked like his brother (i never met his brother and he said he lived on the other side of the country)

One time i was sitting on the sofa, all alone home. My dad was at work and my mom was getting groceries. It was night. I went for a glass of water and I heard a bumb in the living room. I took a few sips, and ran to the living room. I was playing a game on my phone, nothing was broken. I went back to my phone. But minecraft wasn't open. The thing that was open was a camera roll picture of me sipping the water. I freaked out. I looked around the house and nothing. I didn't check the attic because I'm not a crazy person. I go up to my bedroom to report this to the police. When I looked out the window and saw..OBAMA? He broke into the house and my minecraft server and took all my minecraft merch and diamonds from my chest. Obama laughed then fell down the window. I looked down. And he was gone. I still haven't gotten back my diamonds to this day.
This happened to me quite a while ago. I was upstairs home alone watching tv. My parents had gone to pick up my brother from tutoring at around 8pm. I’m watching the tv when suddenly I hear coughing coming from downstairs. I have no idea who it could be and slowly walk to the door of my bedroom. As I peer down the stairs I swore I saw the shadow of a man just standing there. I’m slowly walking back to my room reaching for the phone when whoever it was starts sprinting upstairs. I slam the door shut and jump back, cricket bat in hand , staring at the door for the man to appear as I lay there legit shaking. (Note i had no lock on my door and I felt helpless af). No one came, turns out no one apparently even was in the house to begin with, no break in, all doors locked, surveillance checked, I still feel the shivers every time I think of what happened. I haven’t stayed home since, never again.

A few years back, I was home alone while my parents were watching my older brother’s baseball game. I think I was about 13-14 at the time. I was eating dinner in the den/front room and watching videos on the computer. There’s a window looking directly onto the street that lines up exactly so that anyone on the computer can be seen through the window perfectly. Suddenly someone knocked on the door, and for some reason everything in my body told me I was in danger. I knew everything was locked and I should’ve just ignored it, but I instantly closed the video and hid under the desk so no one could see me through the window. I was about to crawl out from under the desk after a long period of silence when the person knocked again. About two minutes later, they knocked again. I told myself if they knocked a fourth time, something weird was definitely going on and I would get my dad to come home. Sure enough, two minutes later, knock knock. I snuck out and ran to the back of the house and called my dad, shaking. He came home a few minutes later, but there was no sign that anyone had been there, none of my neighbors saw or heard anything, to this day it weirds me out.

I was around...11 at the time(2 years ago) and I was home alone and I saw a shadow in my perifiral vision and I was in the kitchen. My immediate reacting was to call my doggo and turn around, throwing the sharpest knife we had. Nothing was there, but I found interesting footprints outside and the front door open...🤔

My spooky time to shine! When I was probably about 8 or 9 my siblings and I were all sick so my mom was in the front room taking care of us. Everyone went to sleep that night but I woke up and decided to make myself a bowl of honeycomb cereal and after putting the milk away I was getting ready to eat my cereal, which was sitting across from the window in the kitchen. I went to grab it when all of a sudden I heard knocking on the window behind me. Also the kitchen was on the 2nd floor in the apartment we lived in. I just stopped, walked away from my cereal, and went and cuddled with my mom because to hell with whatever was on the other side of the window. I've also always had a sort of connection with spooky paranormal stuff.

In a way, yes. I was at a sleepover with 3 friends who were really into paranormal stuff and the morning after we got there I woke up first and went into the front room and sat in a chair in front of the TV and started reading/drawing. After a few minutes out of the corner of my eye I saw something in the reflection of the TV and it was right next to me. It looked like a weird and creepy creature thing so I automatically looked up and nothing was around me but all of a sudden I had a scratch on my arm sort of like the kind a kitten would give you. Not too sharp in the skin but long enough to catch your eye. I noped the hell out of the living room and went back to sleep in the room with my friends.
Another spooky story. I was living with my friend who was really into the paranormal to the point where she did some witchy stuff and would even call out ghosts to her and see ghosts or creepy stuff in front of her. One night I was staying in her room when she wasn't there and her mom was sleeping in the room across from me. So I've always been a heavy sleeper and people would have a hard time waking me up but all of a sudden I woke up and felt what I thought was someone's hand rubbing down from my hip to halfway down my leg in a repeated motion, like if someone was trying to comfort you?, and it continued for about 5 minutes until I forced myself to go to sleep by keeping my eyes closed and trying not to think about it. That was the only thing that ever happened to me where I was physically touched.
I have 2 more stories also. I just like telling them even though they are scary as hell.
I went to The Winchester House in San Jose, Ca with my fiance and did the tour where they show you around the house and once the group got into Mary Winchester's seance room and my fiance closed the door I immediately started getting lightheaded and dizzy but after we left the room I felt a lot better. That's all that happened there but it still tripped me out.
Hands down, I'm getting a dog.

I had the genius idea of watching this while home alone.
One time when I was home alone I started hearing scratching noises on my basement door. I have legit never heard scratches before so normally I was terrified. I called my dad and told him what happened, I was fine and it never happened again. But still, it was creepy as heck.

It was midnight, and I knew nobody would be home until later in the morning. I heard footsteps. Turned off my video and turned to look at the door. Nothing, figured it must be upstairs neighbors. Hear something again, I turn and look. Nothing. Before I turn back around, my door handle starts turning. im super scared and I'm thinking of what to do. The door opens. Person comes in and yells boo! It's my mom. Decided to visit without telling me. This happened a month ago and I still hate being alone even in broad daylight

I live in an apartment and I was left home alone for a while. The next door neighbors decided that was the time to....ehem... do things. So I was sitting on my bed, watching TV, when this happens. Btw, the wall we share with them, is the wall that my TV is on.....yeah.

Another time was when I just got home from school to an empty house. Nothing had been turned on. Then I hear a male voice yell from down the hall “MOM!” NO ONE WAS HOME!! NONE OF THE TVS WERE ON! My house has gotta be haunted!
Fun fact: btk stands for bind torture kill. It was a serial killer that started killing everyone in his neighborhood(probably the one the story was talking about) the daughter of the killer heard about btk in their neighborhood on the news and was probably scared like everyone else. She found out later that it was her dad killing everyone. She later said in an interview that she still just sees him as her dad and not a serial killer.

my house was only robbed once and it was kinda funny in retrospect but back them it was terrifying, the guy mistook me for his cohort (it was dark and he couldn't make out my face so he had a long conversation with me about how the people arent home and that the're gonna get away with a shit to of cash, and then i just turned on the lights and pionted my gun at his face and said "oh by the way im not dave" and the look on his face was fucking priceless.

About that dog suddenly in a fight mode.. it's believed that whenever a dog is growling and is in fight mode for no reason whatsoever, it means that it saw the devil.
I lived in a sketchy neighborhood in Portland Oregon, the kind of neighborhood where there is gangs and homeless people everywhere (not the nice kind.) and you hear gunshots every night. Of course, even as a young child, I was used to it: I'd had been it Portland all my life and so I didn't really care (it actually made me feel safe and at home, which is quite sad now that I think of it). One night, we heard a gunshot that sounded almost right in front of our house. We rushed into my mom and step dad's room (which was away from the street) and huddled on the floor until we were sure everything was safe.
Another day, we heard this loud talking and yelling, and we heard a knock. My mom made me stay in my room so I don't know what happened there. I heard the door shut and went to look out the window in my kitchen that faced our cole-de-sac. I saw a homeless dude (obviously high) stumbling around our small cole-de-sac and knocking on our neighbors doors. He was yelling and acting angry. It happened a few more times when we called the police. It really freaked me out.
We finally had enough of the gun shots and homeless people outside my window, so we sold our tiny apartment and moved. Literally the day after we moved, a man was shot and killed two or three doors down from our old house. THAT really scared the crap outta me.

I was 12 at the time.
I wasn't home alone, but it was midnight, and most the lamps were out. Everyone was in their rooms, when I heard scratching on the door. Assuming it was my sister, I tried shushing it. It stopped. So I went back to reading my book, and minutes later it came back. This repeated even after I started saying stuff like "shut up," and "go away." Annoyed, I opened the door. Absolutely nothing. It was all dark. I went to my sister's room. She was asleep. By this point I was super creeped out, so I turned all the house's lamps on and lit a small one in my room, before messaging my friend about it. Turns out it was a mouse on the other side of the wall that was struggling against rat glue.
My very first apartment I rented was out in the country, down a gravel road, and surrounded by woods on all sides. It wasn't a bad area, but I had one occurrence that kept repeating at random times. Usually, it would be late, and I would hear banging on my front door. No voices, nothing. Just banging. This would go on for a few minutes then stop. Sometimes I wouldn't even hear it, but I always knew when it happened, since the banging would knock my top lock loose and it would be sticking out, instead of sitting flush against the door. This scared the crap out of me since the door was cheap and it would not take much to bust it open if someone wanted too. I moved out 6 months later due to a financial situation, but I refuse to live alone in a secluded place like that ever again.

This happened yesterday. I forgot to lock my front door and my front door leads the the living room. This random guy that lives in the apartment buildings next to us opens the door and walks in. He sees me and says; “sorry I got confused.” And closes the door. My sister walks out and is like, “there’s no way he got confused we’re a corner unit. He isn’t.” Creepiest thing ever. I still wonder what he would’ve done if I wasn’t in the living room yesterday...
That last story had me on the edge of my chair

For me, creepiest (& true) incident that occurred to me while alone at home was on one summer day in `79, walking out of my bedroom at parents house. Out of corner of my eye I see my deceased grandpa standing just outside my door, and I say, "morning Grandpa!!" as I walk past, then FROZE in my tracks, realizing he's already dead. I turned to see him and he was gone. Never told my folks, as they wouldn't believe me, and I didn't want to upset my dad; it was his father.
I was home alone when I heard footsteps and looked under my door and I swear I see a shadow sweep past the door. I was so scared I grabbed my knife and hide in my room until my family got home.
Good thing I'm safe and sound with my family!
Some Random Guy: "Excuse me, you got me."
Me: "Shut up, you're just my subconscious."
Subconscious: "Oh yeah, sorry."
Literally every time I'm home alone I hear pots and pans falling and people talking. Have gotten used to it but it's so creepy because nobody is there

I hate it when some stories turn out to be pranks or misunderstandings. It kind of kills my faith in scary stuff.
i got one but i wasnt home alone though, when i was around 5-8 years old my parents were down in their bedroom reading a book together of some sort and i was in the living room playing with legos. im sitting there building something and i see a couple hands appear from around a shelf and a figure leans over from behind it, and just stares at me for a good 5 seconds before dissapearing behind it. to this day it still shakes me up, and at the time my parents didnt believe me
