Best I have ever seen. I loved how you've crafted EVERYTHING! Should do a video with the lights turned out, and watching an actual movie from POV. That would be great.
I’m only 4 mins in and I love you! I’m a massive horror/movie geek!! And I need a cinema room when I’m older. I love dis. I love the popcorn machine so much I want it
This is the first thing I want to build when I get my own home! I love the idea of having collectible display cases behind the curtains. I'll have to do that with my hundreds of Pops!
Very nice but if it was mine, I would do away with the decorations under the screen. keeping it neat and clean. Put decorations outside of the theater room where the popcorn was at. But that's just me. Awesome theater room though! :)
I half expected that "AAHHHHH" choir sound effect when you opened the door🤣 What a wonderful cinema! I love all the thought that went into every aspect. Even though it's a few years old, Congratulations! Truly wonderful for a film lover like yourself.
Hahaha, I did consider something like that -- but it just seemed douchey. So I left it haha. Thanks heaps man, much appreciated. We really love it. It really is perfect!
Dude. You're driving me crazy. Get that center speaker out of that cabinet and put it on top. Move all that stuff out of the way and put your center there. What the heck?!?!?!?! With that out of the way, your cinema looks fantastic. Love the classic theme. I am going with a nerd theme (scifi and fantasy) because thats what I enjoy the most. Your looks great.
Just found this video because I’m about to set up a home cinema myself, though it won’t be as impressive as this - my room used to be a garage so it’s only 2.3m x 6m. Love your room, there are a few fairly rude comments from ‘experts’ on here but if I can make one simple suggestion it would be to move your centre speaker to on top of the cabinet, just below the screen. Angle it slightly up at the front with little rubber feet, blu-tac blobs or whatever so it’s pointing more at the seating and it will honestly sound so much better for very little effort. The centre is the most important speaker as it handles all the dialogue etc. Enjoy, I’m off to check out some of your other videos!
Thanks, Ross... and thanks for the tip -- I appreciate the more helpful tone than what I usually see on here. Best of luck for your room - ours isn't all that much bigger than yours and in fact sits on top of our garage :) Thanks again!
@@DaveLeeDownUnder No problem. :) Yeah just wish my room was a bit wider, going to have to 'make do' with a 100" screen (wall to wall) and a couple of 2 seater sofas instead of recliners! Still can't wait to finish it...
OMG I'm so jealous!!, I kinda was proud of my 55", but WOW, this are straight goals, very nice theatre room, this is a dream, I feel like I gotta work harder to accomplish it, Thank You for sharing it with us!!!!
wow, if I had a theater room like that, I would probably watch as many movies as you do! and of course would not be complete without the popcorn! and what makes it all work the best is plenty of room for lots of friends :) thanks for the tour! :)
Haha, it's certainly a good excuse to, that's for sure. The popcorn machine was one of the first things we invested in. We certainly designed it with our friends and family in mind. Pleasure, Mark!
Really nice room, Dave. Love how personal you’ve made it - much more thought than your standard sparse aesthetic. Have you thought about painting the ceiling a dark colour? You’ll be amazed how much light reflects back from the screen from a white ceiling... speaking from experience, it’s like getting a new projector, for the price of a can of paint and a sore neck! Keep keeping on.
That looks like an amazing room to watch movies. You did a fantastic job setting it all up. I think one thing that would fit your theme better though would be to refinish the entertainment center in black. The wood stain doesn't go with the rest of the room, but really that is minor. We all have to work on a budget, and your setup is way better than mine.
Really nice setup. If I were you I would raise the 2 front speakers about 2 feet or more. You will see that the sound and music will so much better. It did for me.
Nice way to end off the night! Caught it just before bed, now time to watch! This is exactly what I want when I finally get my own home, it's my dream, movies are seriously my life, I hope to get into the industry somehow one day!
Wow! Awesome room! Thanks for sharing this amazing room with us! You can be proud of it. I really like how thought out it is and everything comes together, has a place and purpose, also reflects your personality. Amazing job, you created a dream movie room! 👏🏻🤩🧞♂️✨🎬🍿🍭
Such an awesome set up! And it sounds like it’s a room that brings a lot of fun and joy to not just you but the entire family and friends. Highlight is the little John Lennon figure in the back corner....
Thanks heaps, Peter! It certainly does -- the best times are when we have people around to share it with. Lots of fun! Ahh yes, love the Lennon up the back!
Nice room. I strongly suggest getting a basic 7 channel receiver that is Atmos compatible and setting up as 5.1.2 with your existing speakers. I personally prefer it over any 7.1 system I have ever heard and sounds better than inproper setup of 7.2.4. Your existing speaker placement looks close to ideal.
So, firstly, beautiful setup. I love how it's not overly complicated, and everything appears to have purpose (even the deco and furniture). I prefer front-located AV components for easy access myself, this just feels like a perfect balance between cinema and home entertainment. Secondly, I'm curious why your AVR is receiving a PCM signal vs bitstreamed digital audio. I believe that 5.1/7.1 is widespread enough that your disks should be playing that back when they hit the AVR. You've got all of your devices running through the AVR, then out to the projector, correct? Albeit, PCM over HDMI can be multi-channel, which probably sounds fine, but I myself tend to prefer bitstreaming audio to my receiver so that proper multi-channel handling occurs. Thirdly, have you ever considered getting some sort of light controller that can be controlled uniformly? I think it'd be mad useful to have an LED controller that interfaces via something like ZigBee, as well as your sconces and overhead lighting, and be able to create an automated "all on"/"all off" function. I'm sure that'd require some planning out and of course investing in the hardware to do it with, but being that this is a dedicated movie room, it'd be cool to see that automated. Edit: To touch on the 4K issue, your receiver doesn't support HDMI 2 (nor HDCP 2.2), only HDMI 1.4, which does support a full 4K image, but not at 60hz (only supports 30hz and maybe 24hz). It also doesn't support the advanced color space for HDR variants like HDR10 and Dolby Vision, only 4:2:2. It's still perfect for what you've got, since you're only outputting at 1080p @ 60hz. Once you move to a 4K projector, though, you'd definitely be missing out on, if nothing else, the proper upscaling to match your projector. Otherwise, love the setup!
Thank you for showing us your cinema room it's great ,I have a very small cinema room in London ,Great Britain it's only 72 inc wide but 15 f long I put 5 seats in from a 747 first class .and a 50inc screen and decked it all out with a massive sound system I will try to put it on you tube to show what you can do if you thing out the box.
Love many of the interior design touches, fantastic build .. On the subject of James Dean, I don't ever remember him wearing a Leather Jacket in movies.. am I wrong??
Awesome room. Going to have one for myself in future. 4k movies, PS4 games, coke vanilla and a bucket of KFC. LOL. You should have a mini fridge I this great room of yours, for drinks and tubs of Ben & Jerrys.
Nice room for it's use as home theater. Just a thought, I was wondering why your overhead speakers were so far outwards? If you ever get into Dolby Atmos or the other object based sound software, the speakers (since you have 2) would need to be seated in the center of the seating area. The sound is being deflected by the ledge where your lights are in the ceiling. Also the center channel speaker needs to be at least on top of the stand if not a bit higher.
People either spend a fortune on their room or they spend it on gear. You have an amazing room but if I’m being honest I wasn’t expecting to see old budget gear (bar the PJ) in such a beautiful dedicated room. Most of us in the U.K. can’t even dream of having a dedicated room like yours as houses are small and expensive and many of us rent. As an audiophile I’d walk into your cinema with my jaw on the floor wowed by the popcorn machine and beautiful spacious dedicated space and the recliners then I’d want to run for the exit once the film was fired up.
Thanks for the compliments, although really, they really just thinly veiled your insults. This theatre was built 6 years ago, so, of course the gear in the room is “old”. Not everyone has enough money to constantly update their gear every year. The equipment will eventually be upgraded, but it suits its purpose perfectly fine. As for “budget gear”, we bought the best possible gear we could afford, and if that’s “budget” then so be it. There’s over $10k worth of gear in the room and, once again, it’s perfectly fine for its purpose. As for “spending more on the room than the gear”... we built this room from the ground up, so yes, naturally more went into the building and design of the room. Room is perfectly fine, and we enjoy it. That’s all that matters.
I was not trying to iinsuit or offend you I’m simply making an observation. You’ve posted your cinema publicly and people have a right to comment honestly. They’re strangers so are going to say what they feel. They’re not invested in you as a person. I’m not sure how saying someone’s material possessions are budget is insulting. It’s just fact. It’s not as if I said your speakers and amps are crap. I’ve had people critique my gear and not had to run to my safe space and I wasn’t even critiquing i $10k for an entire projection based 7.1 system is budget. I’m sorry if that wounds your ego but in audiophile circles people have spent that on cables. I’ve spent $86k and I consider that in the world of AV and Hi fi as being moderate. You mentioned multiple times that your gear does the job, is older, not 4k etc. I was just pointing out that your room is amaze balls but the budget gear was far less impressive. Like seeing someone who has a Ferrari and opening the hood and a Toyota engine is in there. If your happy with it that’s all that matters. Would an audiophile be impressed. No.
I liked the movie posters because I also noticed that everyone else had posters of movies that were either recently released or 80s movies like The Goonies, E.T., Back To The Future and others. All the posters on your wall are all movies I've seen. I've seen Rebel Without A Cause a couple of years ago as a double feature with Jailhouse Rock and both prints were incredible.
Hello Mr. Lee, I just wanted to say you have a great channel and I wanted to ask how were you able to afford this projector, I'm only 14 and I want to be able to afford this projector in the future, do you have any tips like what jobs I should try to do because you seem successful and I want to be able to afford a Home Theatre like yourself when I grow up
Same place I got the popcorn machine from -- it's a warehouse / wholesaler that provides cinema chains with their popcorn and supplies, and they sell to the public too.
You should get a 2:35/21:9 Screen, those black bars will only show on the sides. You can really get a sense of how much more picture you get. A bigger screen then what you have currently would make this much more immersive. It would be wider but will look so much better
Dave Lee Down Under I don’t have a projector but in the near future I’m thinking of getting one. But would rather a 21:9 one. You just gotta check the measurements
Well done mate I really enjoyed watching this. I'm about to do a similar styled home cinema myself. May I ask what your room dimensions are? I love your tall ceiling. My room will be 5.5m wide and 7.6m long. But my ceiling will only be around 2.6 meters high. Tall enough to do a star field ceiling though ;) Oh and I was your 500th like! Prize? Kidding ^^.
Thanks heaps mate!! Sounds fantastic -- and sounds like you'll have plenty of room. Ours is around 4.5 x 6.5m roughly. Star field ceiling would be AMAZING! Hahah, yes, you can have... MY ENTIRE CINEMA ROOM... Kidding :p
Amazing man. This is what i feel like home cinema is abaout. Designing a room to fit you, not taking out everything and just making it a square room full of sound pads and a screen. Really love it man. A little question man, do you feel like you need a 4k projector or do you think its just fine to start out with a 1080 projector? I mean i can buy 5 1080 projectors for a 4k so im really not sure what to do.
Waau Mark, Awesome. Now 15 months later, I just fitted my plugs. Busy with the columns. Next, do the speaker wiring over the weekend and then the lighting. Should be operational in 3 months hopefully. Up to now managed with least monies but its going to cost. Not a sent left after paying sons University fees. One day the strip lighting and the projector.....dream on
Very cool theme! I think mine would really display the awe of blockbusters. I LOVE summer blockbusters and big action films, so my posters would be Marvel and old Kaiju film posters. Really celebrate the awe and scope of big budget spectacle cinema, y'know?
The Wireless PIT (Remote Draw) !!!!....LOL I got one of those and I hate having to fumble round in the dark for the right one. I tell you what was the real pain about installing my very basic home theatre set up. Not The Cost, not the time & not the effort it was THE CABLING what an absolute HORROR SHOW that and I had 3 windows and 2 glass doors to hide as you showed in the video projectors need a very dark room....Your set up is far superior to my own Good Job.... i want a slushie machine soo bad...
Hahha, yesss, that is the absolute worst! We're just lucky that it was a custom built room so made sure we were able to hide all the cables in the walls and ceiling. Ooohhhh, a slushie machine would be the BEST
I think it was the La Trobe University market. But it was about 5 years ago now, so not sure they'd still have them. There's a popup shop in the middle of Doncaster Westfield that sells HEAPS of them, but they're not cheap.
Dude this is now a goal of mine.
Do it man!!

I agree keep all the toys off the front cabinet !
I would block the one light but when the lights are out I’m sure the rest isn’t distracting.
I agree, seems a 12 years old boy home theater

one of my dreams mate great video hope you upgraded by now to a 4K projector
Not just yet mate, still pretty unaffordable - but hopefully not too long!
This is awesome I hope to get a home theatre eventually with my fav movie posters and just other things that are usually in one
Dream it and you can do it!!
One day the strip lighting and the projector.....dream on
Hi Dave whats the dimensions of the room thinking of doing something similar
Nice visit
Goal home theatre
I love you cinema room way to go
nice set-up...very well done ,....do you know the aspect ratio of the screen and the screen size in inche's...thanks.
Thank you!! The screen is 3m, so around 118 inches on the diagonal
great video mate super jealous though
Very cool theme! I think mine would really display the awe of blockbusters. I LOVE summer blockbusters and big action films, so my posters would be Marvel and old Kaiju film posters. Really celebrate the awe and scope of big budget spectacle cinema, y'know?
Sounds amazing!! I think that'd be really cool!
Great looking room!!! Would you be able to advise what the dimensions of your room is?
I was wondering what size are the frames and how did you custom print them. I would love to do the same.
The frames are 60x90cm, standard poster size. Had them custom printed at a printing place I used to work
Amazing room though. Definitely an inspirational room
Thanks so much 😊
I agree 100% on what you said about the Dolby atmost it's all you need 7.1
Great to hear! In a set-up like this, the difference would be minimal.
*never listened to a proper Atmos setup
Wow was blown away when i saw your cinema , Just wondering the size of the room.
Thanks mate! It's around 4.5 x 6 m
Thanks buddy
First time viewer from Adelaide, nice ideas
awesome room
Thanks, mate!
wow awesome dude great Home Theater i just subscribed to your channel just because of this video
Awesome! Thanks heaps :)
you have a really nice house I wish I had a house like that 😊
you look like a rich person 😀
Nice theater Dave love 3D on a 100" screen !!
Thanks mate. Ohh, the 3D experience is a LOT of fun!
How much was the popcorn machine?
What market did you go to that had the hollywood actors and actress' pillows?
I think it was the La Trobe University market. But it was about 5 years ago now, so not sure they'd still have them.
There's a popup shop in the middle of Doncaster Westfield that sells HEAPS of them, but they're not cheap.
Thanks for the tour. Hoping i can have a home theater one day myself ah well i can dream.
Pleasure mate!! Dream it -- do it!
Great video, I love your home theater. A big greeting from Mexico :D
