  • Chris (@CSimmsQB) and Ahmed (@ahmedNBC) hit the "Wild Cards" tier of the QB Countdown, with some passers who could get their teams back in the playoffs. But first, the guys address Justin Jefferson's new deal, and Simms tries an impersonation of Casey Kasem (or Case Keenum). #NBCSports #ChrisSimmsUnbuttoned #nflonnbc
(0:00) Summer is in the air, but Simms is still in the tape room.
(6:35) Justin Jefferson deal: What took so long?
(15:00) #14 Aaron Rodgers: "Can he play the way he wants to play?"
(26:45) #13 Jordan Love: "2nd half of the season, the light came on.
(43:25) #12 Kirk Cousins: "Below-average athleticism, but above average overall QB.”
(56:40) #11 Trevor Lawrence: "Next step is carrying his offense when sh*t gets ugly.”
(1:11:15) Playoff Party Crashers: We look at playoff odds for teams who missed the postseason last year
(1:14:35) What's My Grip? Chris explains why the Combine is measuring hands the wrong way.
(1:19:15) Homie questions: Why didn't Aidan O'Connell, Tyler Huntley, Tyrod Taylor, or Drake Maye make the Top 40?

Shit I wouldn't out amd aging arod behind him either. NO who do you want on your team Trevor or Aaron to move forward with you go youth but ranking now arod will easily be better then Lawrence if he stays healthy health would be the only reason. I agree, Trevor is too high but Purdy is about right. McCaffery carries that team offensively. I think if Purdy didn’t have him for quick check downs and he runs 60 yards he wouldn’t have near the stats he has or wins. You put anyone on the top 10 list if the QBs left. They are winning the Super Bowl on that 49ers team. They are that good. Not saying Purdy won’t break top 10, he’s just not there yet.

Or others would do it to. Yeah he's got pieces to work with but he uses them well amd on time does he not. He's higher then 17 you don't have an mvp season and be at 17. 7-11 range I'd say, bit if he keeps playing this same way then there isn't many in the league as consistent with how he operates the position.

Being more patient with the play in order to make more throws downfield). Side note: I wish the summary on TH-cam would include some of the plays looked at so that we can re-watch the plays ourselves (like when you talked about Trevor Lawrence's throwing motion going haywire). I know one day somebody will steal this take and act like they thought of it themselves but I truly believe that Tom Brady and Kirk Cousins careers would’ve been very similar if Tom wouldn’t have signed team friendly contracts and got the best deal available.
But in Kirk’s defense, starting his career as a back up to RG3 in Washington is a far cry from Brady backing up Bledsoe in New England.
The situations are completely opposite but the talent of the players is extremely comparable.

So they are already paying the CB Diggs near top of market money and Lamb is going to want to get paid very close to where Jefferson is and they have have to get a contract worked out with Dak. And Parsons wants to be paid right now not next season. So they have 3 near top of market for Dak and Lamb and top of market for Parsons. He is going to expect to jump Nick Bosa. The Bengals aren’t as screwed as the Cowboys are. They can pay Burrow and Chase and that’s why they aren’t going to be able to keep Tee past this year.

@jameshoops10 Purdy came in as a 7th rounder and immediately took over the Shanahan offense. Then coming off an injury he had an all pro season. The talent around him is massively helpful but he deserves credit for being the best Shanahan QB cus we've seen Jimmy G struggle at times with the offense.

I love y'all, but this list is horseshit. Simms, you put QBs height & arm strength up way too high. If size was so important Ryan Leaf & JaMarcus Russell would have been better than Joe Montana, Drew Brees, Russell Wilson & Steve Young. It's a travesty to have Jordan Love over Brock Purdy on just half a good season while Purdy has done better than most in his first 2 seasons. And if it's the system, why didn't Jimmy Garoppolo & Trey Lance do better with all that talent? Also, Jimmy FG didn't lead us to a Superbowl when all he did was hand the ball off for 2 playoff games. Brock Purdy actually made us the #1 offense & lead us to the Superbowl when our defense wasn't as good as Garoppolo had. You're just plain wrong.

Brewing went 4-3 with the hardest schedule in the fucking NFL last year. The Bengals played 11 playoff teams and 14 teams than finished at least 9-8. So Brownjng goes 4-3. Vs a historically hard schedule, completes over 70 % of his passes with 1936 yards, 8 YPA, 12 tds + 3 rushing tds, 7 interceptions, 98.4 passer rating and 0 lost fumbles. Jake Browning proved last year than on about 12-14 of the teams in this league he would be a starter.

He's a smart kid with talent and a lot of potential, and I'll be interested to see how he progresses with a healthy off-season, but his play is generally pedestrian. He enjoys a lot of benefit from his YAC monster receiving core and a generational RB talent, he's not winning these games on purely his own merit

@@cap2205 I'm not talking about just stats, as you should have grasped from my reply. ... I'd hope. Does he appear to be struggling at all out there..not really, does he operate a high level obviously proven so far and these are yearly rankings and what he did and how he did it wasn't a 17th type player. But man if he was 2 inches taller and could throw a bit further, or he didn't operate in the window he has and wasn't efficient and had to make plays more after plays broke down because he couldn't process in time then he'd get a higher vote (apparently). What's he's doing on his own Merrit is not getting overwhelmed playing within himself, throwing on time, throwing guys open, buying time amd scrambling was he needs to not because he has to. He plays the position at a high level period only takes 1 eye to see that. ......THEN the stats back it up. Ba if not for Pickens catching those huge passes where he took them to the house ba would have the highest average depth of target of 17 yards and on 75 catches had 1400 yards any other wr had catch the ball many more times to get that number, and ba isn't a catch and yac guy he catches down the field when he receives the ball. I dont think you're qualified to truly know. You have a blanket narrative you don't and haven't watched all the games and if you had youd be able to see it which is fine. The stats only back it up what your eyes should already be telling you. He may not be throwing a 60 yard bomb every game but he throws deep and has more success down field then almost every qb in the league last year as well. Doesn't matter who's catching the passes he's doing it.
