Courageous? Or just ignorant. How is one of the best rated QBs in every metric last year ranked in the bottom half of the league. It’s the only way Chris gets people to watch.
@@soko2678 He's treating them all like they have the same coaching and talent around them. This is a list that ignores their situation to get his ranking of where he'd pick them all for an average team.
I think Geno was more hurt in the Giants game than reported. He threw 6 of his 9 interceptions over the next month and in that Giants game he was 9 for 11 before he was hurt and 2 for 9 after
I'm struggling with all the contradictions, even when talking about one QB. But hey, it's your list, Simms, so you make your own criteria for your opinions.
I think he’s being nice. For example, he says “Tua can do everything”. Clearly that’s not the case! It’s like a compliment sandwich. He says something nice, then takes it away, only that he never added the nice thing back. So it’s more like a sandwich with only one piece of bread. 🤷🏽♂️ he was trying not to straight dog Tua but he was spot on about his limitations.
I'd trade Shanahan immediately for an OL as good as the Lions. Overrated playoff choker who's lucky his QB went rogue, ran the ball and carried him with his legs to the SB. Builds his offense for the RB. How's blocking and YAC the best traits of all your receivers? The OL always put the ass in pass blocking just because Shanahan wants these weak but nimble track star OLs.
Not sure what they want Purdy to do. He runs that offense perfectly. He wasn't the reason they lost the SB. If you give those same stats Purdy had last year to the guy in KC, he's the MVP not Jackson. He does remind you a little of Brady. Run the offense and take what it gives you. Why Talking Heads now seem to hate QBs who do that I don't know. Give me a guy who can run the offense over an Allen type QB any day. If Purdy was a top 5 pick QB they'd be singing his praises. He not so he can't be good. He's been nothing but good practically every game he's played. I'm not a SF fan. But I'm a Purdy fan after watching how he just runs the offense and takes what the defense gives him. You win more game doing that than playing hero ball that a Josh Allen plays. Does he have a great team around him? Sure. But you can't mark him down for that.
He wasn’t the reason they won the Super Bowl either & that deserves attention. That said, I think you make a great point & I was surprised Purdy wasn’t in the top 12
Sorry there aren't 12 QBs better than Brock Purdy. I know Chris leans on arm strength and some of those elite tools....BUT....Purdy is elite in accuracy, processing, pocket escapability, and anticipation.
12 he has Brock at 16 but dak and hurts with just as much talent aren't even in same tier and dak dosnt get punished for choking in big games but purdy gets punished for having coach some say chokes in big games, also they said he's never had 4 th quarter comeback or game winning drive yet they forgetting Packers game.
The challenge for Purdy now is to prove that this isn't his ceiling. Can he progress to make some of those throws that he can't (or hasn't yet)? If he doesn't then he will be doomed because the team around him won't always be as incredible as it is and when he gets paid like he's top 5 in the league he HAS to.
@@davet2459 why would anybody ever think purdy is at his ceiling? This is where Brock criticism is unfair I don't remember anyone ever suggesting a quarterback that has never had a full off season to improve is at there ceiling why is it Jordan love is expected to improve and be great but Brock can't yet he's been in NFL less time it's such disingenuous way to rank guys how can Jordan love he ahead of purdy love has had maybe 6 good games and why with some qbs does Simms down play there bad play but with Brock who did throw 2 balls that should been picked but Simms says at least 5 v packers no it's all nonsense to justify his preference for big arms because there's nobody can tell me the tape says love is better.
I love how most teams shining moment was "out playing the chiefs" "should have beat the chiefs." Browns were getting stomped in that 2020 divisional game until mahomes was yanked for a concussion that he didnt actually have. Hurts "outplayed" mahomes in the superbowl even though they loss and mahomes was playing on a high ankle sprain. The nfl does not like the same teams being good every year contrary to all the fans that think kc gets all the calls because discussion around who the best is gets stale.
i just need to say about Tua, he'll probably get paid, he should be franchise tagged, which granted i would sit out if i was him which would get him paid still, i guess congrats on getting paid, There's no excuses for the dolphins to not be in a super bowl like, the division shouldn't even be remotely close as well talent wise. and i doubt he's good enough to get there in the AFC in this era. Just based on even peak projection of his traits, not even passing but with pocket presence limitations. his body literally alone limits him situationally, he literally doesn't have the talent to problem solve effectively post snap and this really bothers me because it just makes everything harder for everyone. When it should be easy for this roster and its frustrating to watch teams like the dolphins cap themselves at the QB spot. ik everyones not Mahomes or burrow or lamar, i just think you should be constantly revolving the starter spot till you nail on a dude, that's that level. i don't get the desperation to give Tua money besides front office ego/hubris.
I’m not saying Tua is a top five QB but there is a 100% a false narrative that he underthrows balls more or worse than other QB’s. He doesn’t have a strong an arm as Josh Allen or Mahomes or Lamar but he can make the throws he needs to make. You know who underthrows receivers as well. Mahomes , Allen and Lamar. It just happens sometimes and it’s not about arm strength, it’s usually about timing
With Tua you can see some balls he throwing it with everything he's got and Tyreek has to literally stop and come back to it. And he can't make the tight window throws off schedule, everything with Tua has to be pre-planned and scripted. Or else everything breaks down, just like in all their tough games.
Really enjoyed your breakdown on Geno. I think he's a really good QB. Live the way he throws the ball and can thread the needle. But you answered several questions for me as to why that talent doesn't translate to more success. I know it's something that can be fixed....to what degree, I guess that depends on Geno. But I also wonder how much of the problem was a result of the scheme. I know that the Hawks didn't utilize the middle of the field. The question is, was that because of Geno or the lack of other positional players. With JSN I expected more slot plays but it never happened.
Geno literally carries the hawks. 2nd worst oline in the league 30th ranked run game 31st ranked defense. Geno on any of the teams listed is better than the guys listed before him.
The Titans game plan that "stumped" Miami that Simms is talking about was literally watching Miami's starters suffer injury after injury. Williams done for the year Tyreek severely banged up Eichenberg banged up Howard banged up Mostert banged up Waddle banged up All in addition to the starters already injured before the game: Armstead Baker Holland Hunt Phillips Wynn Generally speaking when literally all 3 of your best O-Linemen are out, offensive production suffers.
I didn't even know who Chris Simms was until I checked his wikipedia. A quarterback who got many shots but just couldn't last or succeed anywhere. Why would anybody listen to the guy?
They don't. Warner, Young, Steve Smith, Montana, and many others talk about how well he plays and proves others wrong. It's just Simms judging people on athleticism and arm talent and discounting immeasurables.
In the playoffs when he plays the ENTIRE game, he has stepped off the field with for the last time of each game he either has the win or the lead. Who else can say that presently besides Mahomes?
simms says it himself, but either completely forgets or underrates the mental aspect of qb processing. Otherwise, i cant fathom how guys like purdy are this far down the list. It's like the list is completely populated by physical traits, but i wouldnt trust trevor lawrence, baker mayfield, jordan love or kyler murray to make the same reads that brock purdy does
Dude was the most efficient QB in the league last year. Absolute stud for where he was drafted. No way is he bottom half of the league. Even Chris can't escape draft bias. What a joke
The thing is; this is ranking QBs without all the weapons and OC. There are a lot of QBs that would have flourished with SF's weapons and shanahan as playcaller. Don't get me wrong, Purdy was a stud last year, but let's not overreact here.
Their are so many QB’s that would thrive in Shannahan’s system with Deebo, Aiyuk, Kittle, Jennings, and obviously McCaffrey. He has exceeded his expectations as a 7th round pick but he’s not a top 5 or even top 10 QB talent.
Dam I was looking at Tuas numbers from last year and was comparing it to Burrows 2021 campaign Tua has 4624 yards, 29 TD’s, 8.3 YPA and a 69.3 completion percentage. Burrows 1st full year of football 2021 Burrow and ALL starters did not play the last game because they didn’t have to. Tuas numbers above are for 17 games. Here is Burrows 2021 numbers for 16 games is 4611 yards 34 TD’s, 8.9 YPA, 70.4% completion percentage. He led the league that year in completion percentage and YPA and he would have this year as well. He would have been second in yards about 17 yards behind Tua and would have been 2nd or third in TDs. Dak led the league with 36. And despite that brilliant performance with a 108.3 passer rating he did. It make the god damned Pro Bowl. He made it in 2022 though and should have made 2nd team All Pro in 2022 and not Jalen Hurts. Burrow had 40 total TDs in 2023. 35 tds a franchise record and 4500 yards. And again in 2021 the Bengals starters all Rested in the last game. They didn’t even dress out. And in 2022 the Bills game was canceled because a guy literally died on the field and they had to resuscitate him. And last year we were headed right back the AFC championship. This year things will come fulll circle and Burrow will win MVP and Super Bowl MVP. They will beat the 49ers in New Orleans at the super dome for the Super Bowl and it will be poetic because 5 years prior there is where LSU Burrow and the boys from Baton Rouge dismantled the Clemson Tigers in the 2020 national championship game. And we will finally exorcise the demons of The past and we will vanquish the 49ers who beat us in the Super Bowl in 1981 and 1988. So that’s a little sneak peak on what is going to happen. Place your bets early while you have good odds.
Just imagine how much better this show would be if Simms actually had someone to debate with that actually knew about football and X’s and O’s. Cuz we all know that Ahmed isn’t that. Not even close. Ahmed is the worst
I get that you want to exonerate your bestie Kyle Shanahan for folding at the end of yet another Super Bowl by rating Purdy so low (oh, if only Kyle had a better QB, maybe he would have known the overtime rules...) but c'mon dude - Baker Mayfield is in your eyes better than Purdy!? Baker? I don't even know what to do with Kyler. He's obviously better that Baker as well, but currently he is not better than Purdy. BTW, where are Zach Wilson and Kellen Mond? In the top 10? If they wanted to make it harder they should have done this after every 10-20 QBs that Chris ranked instead of 5-6.

He didn't have biggest comeback in championship game history? I have no issue with anyone who wants to see it from purdy for longer or anyone who thinks he's not elite but having him below baker n as low as this it's just nonsence especially when you don't even have him in same tier as guys like hurts and dak who have just as much talent played longer in NFL, Brock has never even had a full off season to improve he's been to championship game and left feild 3 times in superbowl with the lead in fourth quarter it's just strange to me that choking in big games like dak dosnt penalise him but having Kyle a guy everyone says chokes in big games punishes purdy I mean what we talking about here.
@@glow4417 I agree purdy had a bad game with wet ball no doubt but that's not my point is it there saying he's never had come from behind win or game winning drive but that's not true, they also punish Brock for talent on his team yet dak as plenty of talent and chokes in big games yet he's in whole other teir above Brock I don't understand the criteria is winning in pressure situations not one of the biggest qualities qbs can have?

He led their offense to 23 points, with only the 2 TD drives going for 40+ yards (one FG came starting from Miami's 25, then went 3-and-out) . 210 yards on 37 pass attempts, roughly 1/3 of his completions were behind the line of scrimmage and overall for the game he averaged 3.7 air yards per completion. This was against a defense missing 2 of its top 3 cornerbacks and starting safety. QBR was slightly above average (58.6). The talent that crushed Miami was the 49ers' defensive line. Miami missing 3 starters on the O-Line resulted in them keeping in extra guys for pass protection on all but 3 plays, and SF's line still kept nearly constant pressure. Purdy for sure is a good QB but stating his first start as a crushing performance is overstating things
@@johnf6198 Yes, and that's part of the reason why I said he was a good quarterback. All I did was refute your labeling of that performance as "crushing". His first start against Tampa was a substantially more impressive game, as was his first playoff game/6th overall start against the Seahawks.

Bro what? Ahmed’s role is to set Simms up. He provides context about what narratives are to allow Simms to challenge them. He handles all the responsibilities of a host to allow simms to flourish in his color role. Purdy led the league in almost every passing category. Chris is much too critical of him.His two year record is tremendous.
Hes on the best roster in the nfl. Literally 15 qbs could do what he does
yk stats aren’t a way to determine which qb is better than another
Its not fantasy football. Not all about stats. The actually player isnt a top 15 qb in the league
He's talking about the player physical attributes not stats genius. From arm talent to decision making. 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
@@raniasaad8772 The 49ers have great skill players but except for Williams a lousy offensive line..

Chris really needs to put the bowl down 🤣 he's just Mr. Contradiction with this list 💀
You really need to chill out… it’s impossible not to be somewhat contradictory ranking 40 nfl QBs… 🙄
Explain
I’m proud of Simms for being courageous enough to rank Purdy and Tua outside the top 15
You're "proud" ?
Are you his mom ?
He put purdy ahead of Tua
He’s also correct 👍
How is Caleb Williams in the top twenty and hasn’t played a nfl game lol.
Obviously projection. This list scenario is "Given the exact same team each time, which QB would you take right now" Caleb just happens to be #20
@@TheLivedeath I get the scenario just don’t get him being in the top twenty. As a football fan hope I’m wrong.
I think Geno was more hurt in the Giants game than reported. He threw 6 of his 9 interceptions over the next month and in that Giants game he was 9 for 11 before he was hurt and 2 for 9 after
And I'd have Geno more like #12
I'm struggling with all the contradictions, even when talking about one QB.
Didn't purdy bring them back against the lions ,
I'd trade Shanahan immediately for an OL as good as the Lions.
Simms’ ranking of Purdy is spot on.
Murray > Purdy? 🤢🤮🤯
Tua: It's about follow through! He's got to win the big games. Its about mentality

Love the pod, but Geno is way to low.
Keep up the good work.
mahomes, allen, burrow, stroud, love, jackson, herbert, cousins, stafford, lawrence, rodgers, goff, hurts, dak
Bad guesses my guy
Chris is super biased
How many playoff wins does Purdy has? The only reason he's ranked above 5 is because he was picked last. How's Goff better?
They didn't utilize the middle of the field because of Pete Carroll. His philosophy was not to use middle field because it leads to more INTs.
The Titans game plan that "stumped" Miami that Simms is talking about was literally watching Miami's starters suffer injury after injury.
Williams done for the year
Tyreek severely banged up
Eichenberg banged up
Howard banged up
Mostert banged up
Waddle banged up
All in addition to the starters already injured before the game:
Armstead
Baker
Holland
Hunt
Phillips
Wynn
Generally speaking when literally all 3 of your best O-Linemen are out, offensive production suffers.
Chris Simms is so ignorant.
Sam Howell WAS brought in for competition.
So.. Jalen Hurts in front of Purdy ? El Oh El.
Purdy wishes he could consistently sit in a pocket for 5+ seconds.
I didn't even know who Chris Simms was until I checked his wikipedia. A quarterback who got many shots but just couldn't last or succeed anywhere. Why would anybody listen to the guy?
Daniel Jones was not good two years ago. The offense was set up to minimize him being bad/putting the game too much in his hands.
Purdy won those games
Purdy at 17? Harsh. I wonder why “football guys” hate him so much…
I just purchased a new gaming PC, I love it
simms says it himself, but either completely forgets or underrates the mental aspect of qb processing. Otherwise, i cant fathom how guys like purdy are this far down the list. It's like the list is completely populated by physical traits, but i wouldnt trust trevor lawrence, baker mayfield, jordan love or kyler murray to make the same reads that brock purdy does
I’m just wondering one thing next week: If Goff can make Simms’s top 10 QB
He did
I'm not ready.
Tua isn't nuanced, he's Tuauanced
Terrible joke
32:07 LOL the delusion
MAYFIELD?? 😂😂😂😂😂
Top 9 in passing yards and tds. Plus playoff win and probowl.
Purdy at 17 is insane.
@hoek-ni8fl , flourished and near MVP are two different things. Other QBs could win but only a handful of other QBs could put up his numbers.
Their are so many QB’s that would thrive in Shannahan’s system with Deebo, Aiyuk, Kittle, Jennings, and obviously McCaffrey. He has exceeded his expectations as a 7th round pick but he’s not a top 5 or even top 10 QB talent.
Purdy is too low I agree with that
Dam I was looking at Tuas numbers from last year and was comparing it to Burrows 2021 campaign Tua has 4624 yards, 29 TD’s, 8.3 YPA and a 69.3 completion percentage. And again in 2021 the Bengals starters all
Rested in the last game. And we will finally exorcise the demons of
The past and we will vanquish the 49ers who beat us in the Super Bowl in 1981 and 1988. So that’s a little sneak peak on what is going to happen. Place your bets early while you have good odds.
Why do you write like that?
Just imagine how much better this show would be if Simms actually had someone to debate with that actually knew about football and X’s and O’s. Cuz we all know that Ahmed isn’t that. Not even close. Ahmed is the worst
Your dad stuck with the grip change for the rest of that season, and then switched back, because he couldn't be consistent with it after.
Wow! Aiden O Connell top 15!
😂😂😂
I get that you want to exonerate your bestie Kyle Shanahan for folding at the end of yet another Super Bowl by rating Purdy so low (oh, if only Kyle had a better QB, maybe he would have known the overtime rules...) but c'mon dude - Baker Mayfield is in your eyes better than Purdy!? Baker? I don't even know what to do with Kyler. He's obviously better that Baker as well, but currently he is not better than Purdy. BTW, where are Zach Wilson and Kellen Mond? In the top 10? Go pound sand man, you're a walking contradiction
Tua's decisive split second decision making and accuracy means nothing.........,,,a? Hmm Christopher can never admit when he's wrong!
all these guys above Geno is insane , guy does as much as any of them with the 2nd worst protection in the NFC
The line isn't as bad as the sack numbers suggest. While I agree they lack interior talent, the tackles are good. The scheme that he played in was awful and he held the ball too long at times.
@@brandonwilson4740the tackles were hurt all year and when finally health the last 5 games Geno had the number one QBR in the league. The oline and run game were horrendous.
I hope the whiners give Purdy 50 mil + 😂🤣
Im actually surprised im agreeing with this list as much as i am
Jordan love ACTUALLY threw 2 interceptions and cost his team the game. Your bias is showing. You don’t wanna put him in the top 10 after being 1st in every statistical category fine. But 17 just means this list is nothing more than toilet paper.
Kyle Shanahan would secretly take Love over Purdy if given the chance.
@@TheLivedeath Kyle would be looking to replace him if he ended our season like ended the packers season. Especially if that game was basically handed to him on a silver plate to win and he couldn’t close it.
How good was Chris Simms on a top 40 scale in his prime?
Last year during his ratings ,he was asked and said about 23.
@@jasonbrazier2864 Ok thats not bad. Thanks!

Get mad that your little QB isn’t ranked higher. These are Simms’ best QBs in terms of who can win a championship today, right now. Not next year, not the year after that, but THIS year.
Exactly, also I can't think of a less biased analyst than Simms. I think he truly wishes success for every qb and player but he has to give his honest opinion on everything he sees. That's exactly why I watch his shows.

Kind of puzzled at this segment and how they’re treating it. I just look at skin tone and then accessories (if you’ve watched NFL for a few years you know who likes to wear wrist tape/bands). If they wanted to make it harder they should have done this after every 10-20 QBs that Chris ranked instead of 5-6.

Wtf are we talking about Brock purdy didn't have 4th quarter comeback or game winning drive so he didn't do it against green bay in playoffs?

Did you not watch the game where he came off the bench, as a rookie, and crushed the Dolphins?

@@buddysteele7624 Sorry, Purdy
