    I've been in construction for 30+ years and I have to make a few pier's for a fencing job, so I really just watched your video for mortar
    technique and a refresher, as it has been 20 years since I have done anything with brick, but many of my years were in framing, and you know,
    framers can do it all. Lol.
    I just wanted to take a moment to tell you that you would be good at teaching anything. You describe what you're doing, while you're doing it, and what many people don't bother to sometimes mention is why you're doing it.
    I think that the why, is overlooked and just as important if you want the person to really learn as it makes them think of potential issues, and I believe that the concept of looking ahead and around you, to see how your process might be affected, or what it might affect is as important as any of the other processes, and you can even take that into your personal life, if you like philosophy.
    Good looking work too by friend. I will check out some more of your videos and give you a sub.
    Up enuh mi g

    Not being a brick layer, I can honestly say that if I tried this using your technique, I think I could be successful. I don't know if you have already done this, but not only show the equipment that you use when performing this type of job but the correct naming of the item. I think this would help your beginner audience that watches your videos to learn. Your detailed work is simply your love of your skill set and that is the level of detail I enjoy watching. Thank you.

    is the house built with blocks and the brick is aesthetic, attached to the block? I dont see any header rows which seems to say the walls are a single layer of brick

    did i fall asleep; or did you go into the all important mud mix? i want to see how you develop your mud for consistency and stiffness for laying those bricks on with consistant morter joint thickness. do you just have an excellent perception of morter thickness or do you have a way to control the thickness so that your column heights dont slowly grow taller than the other.. i want my columns consistently the same exact height.. and i have another rookie question also. how about that cap? does it have to be stone or can we fashion that out of morter somehow and end up with a beautiful cap? and one more question.. how many courses do you dare stack in a single day before youre mud start sagging. and how often did you strap that column.. only once or ever third course or whats your recommend? Ive two columns to build by the driveway.. and it sure helps to know best practices.

  • @waynevelzis8162
    @waynevelzis8162 ปีที่แล้ว

    But you only referenced the other column once - how do you know they are the same height (mortar thickness could vary from course to course and column to column

    what about weep holes at the bottom of that column ? is it too small you think for a weep hole.. if water get beind them bricks it may find a way in to sit on that pine and encourage microbial habitat and growth which eats the wood.. or termites.anyway.. can say something on weephole at first course of brick?
