  • I've had my excellent portable washer for 2.5 years now, so here is a follow-up demonstration of the machine, along with my thoughts on owning a washer like this. Still going strong! The classic agitator makes a world of difference!

    This is the first portable washing machine that I have seen with an agitator. That's great I think washing machines with agitators washes clothes better than the ones that don't have it.

    I love it that this machine does every cycle even with the lid open, & you can tell it has a strong motor. I have a traditional top loader, & like if the noise it makes wasn't annoying enough, the only time I can leave the lid open is when it's filling up with water. It also won't do a second rinse, unless I run back to it & reprogram it with the analog buttons before it spins, or let it finish & program it to rinse & spin again. Your machine impressed me more. This Dandy machine is pretty handy! 👍

    That's what you call a very aggressive wash lol. I had a whirlpool 1.7 cubic feet portable in my first apartment with a compact dryer. Was the best machines ever and didn't have to wash my regular clothes at a laundromat. It took a while to get all the laundry done but was worth it in the end....

    My Danby Designer is 20 years old and still going strong. I have had to replace the intake valves and the drain hose, but a small price to pay, since the nearest laundromat is a 45 minute drive.
    I'm taking a break from moving the drain hose to the other hole to fit its permanent place in my bathroom. The dishwasher, in the kitchen, uses a larger quick connect.

    Quite the wash action! I noticed your tub is indexing quite a bit, with a load of this size, adding a little bit more water manually will stop the indexing and save the brake on the drum. I have a washer similar to this with the agipeller design, and the addition of the extra water makes quite a difference in the tub staying put rather than turning during agitation.

However my only issue is when its fully loaded when the barrel itself moves it squeals as it does it, don't know if there is a fix or not but other than that it works flawlessly.
    Another thing is the middle agitator did come off (not sure if middle bolt sheared off?) and i think its because i overloaded it, it was a simple fix of just bolting it back in and hasn't come loose since.

If you're thinking of connecting to the rainwater drainage system on your balcony don't- it's illegal and environmentally damaging- chances are your rainwater downpipes are separate from the sewage system, meaning all the detergent etc will simply end up in the nearest natural watercourse.

    For about 10 years I was taking my clothes to local laundries because I felt like the front loading machines were not as damaging to my clothes as the ones with agitators. This machine doesn't shred the _heck_ out of your clothes?

    • @Nirrrina
      @Nirrrina 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you want one without the agitator there's tons. Actually this is the first I've seen with one like this.

    • @spencerwilton5831
      @spencerwilton5831 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      themirrorsofmymind You're correct. In Europe we haven't used top load since the seventies. Few people under 40 have ever seen one. Front load is superior in every way- less damage to clothes, better cleaning, less water, less detergent, less energy, faster spin, much more stable.

    Does anyone know if this machine is being controlled by a DC motor whose direction is being switched continually via a computer chip as the agitator goes through its back and forth motions? Also, what RPM does this cutie spin at?

    I've watched your 2 videos on this machine, and they're very good, but have you ever checked online for reviews from people who have had serious problems with this unit??? Also, there are people who had serious problems with the Danby 0.9 cu. ft. portable washing machine which doesn't have that tall old-style Agitator in it. Both these units are available in Canada. I've been weighing the pros and cons of each of these units carefully and I still can't decide to buy either of these units for myself yet because of the bad reviews I've read on these 2 units. Granted in any Appliance Line there can be a number of "LEMONS" created that slip passed quality control, but still, some problems are in fact problems with the basic overall design. In any case, I'm glad that you've got a good unit here for yourself and that you'll enjoy the benefits of your machine for many years to come! By the way... 2 thumbs up on your 2 videos for this machine!

    • @VacTech1
      @VacTech1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! This machine has been discontinued for years, and I can't speak for the newer models, as I have no experience with them. Sometimes though, all you hear in reviews are the rare horror stories.

    does your water have to be running the whole time?

    • @JonTanOsb
      @JonTanOsb 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's more convenient to do so. Unless you want to run back and turn it on to fill for the rinse.
      I like to soak my clothes overnight, so fill, agitate a bit, turn off, and turn off the water. In the morning I run it, then turn the water on for the rinse. Once the rinse is filled up, I turn off the water. But mine is 20 years old and does not have all the buttons on front, just a couple of knobs on the back.
