PAN6320W Portable Washing Machine review

    I really like this washing machine. I purchased it from First & Best for my short term rental apartment so that my guests can do their own laundry. The suite doesn't have appliance water and drainage hookups and I'm glad that portable washing machines exist to fill this need. At 1.34 cu. feet, it's a bit on the small side, but the cubby where I wanted to store wouldn't accommodate a larger model. As it shows in the video, 1.34 cu. feet holds two full-sized towels. Another load could be one pair of jeans, a large handful of socks and underwear, and 5 teeshirts. It also washes both a queen size flat sheet and fitted sheet at once. You can extrapolate from these values how your own laundry needs might be solved with this model. The quick cycle completes a load in 23 minutes, which is faster than most traditional washing machines, and so I can get 2.7 cu. feet of laundry done in under 50 minutes, approximately the same as a regular load of laundry in a traditional machine which takes about the same time.
    The machine is well built and doesn't vibrate or shake during use. It seems relatively quiet, like most washing machines, and a conversation can be held nearby it in operation.
    The main thing that I didn't like about it was that the wheels are on the back, and so when I wheeled it into the cubby it was backwards. I wanted to show it off! So I solved this with a $25 adjustable dolly built for portable appliances, which makes moving it effortless.
    I'm so glad I finally got this machine for my rental guests, who LOVE it. Some of my guests said they will purchase one for themselves. I wish I had one of these when I was in university! This machine will pay for itself in under one year. Portable washing machines are perfect for dorms, apartments, condos, RVs and tiny homes. It's also a great way to add a second washing machine to your home.
    *Canadians, please note that this doesn't ship to Canada yet, but I picked it up from a parcel delivery service just across the Canadian/US border and paid a nominal import duty fee of $35.*

    It's Grandma Sally after a year of using her Panda. I bought the cart to go under it. I'm 78 now. It's just too heavy to lift it. It has a locking mechanism on the wheels. I just washed my great-grandmother's hand-made quilt. I had to watch it at all times, because it feels as if she lined it with iron. But I'm happy to say it looks super. It's over 100 years and came out spotless. I never put really dirty clothes in it and clean the lint filter and dry out the drum every time I use it. My dresses are always washed by hand and hung on a rack to air dry. I'm now using the tub clean cycle. Everything works great. I still have no idea what the capacity is and usually try not to overload it.

    • @shangaosurprise
      @shangaosurprise  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe so. You'd have to purchase your own inlet hose but the diameter is standard on this machine and others. The drain hose could be placed in a standpipe or hooked on a utility sink to drain. However, if I already had plumbing for a washing machine I would get a larger model for efficiency.

    • @joeyereneta1746
      @joeyereneta1746 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, just remove the supplied inlet hose and buy both a “Y” washing machine hot/cold mixing hose and a 3/4”-female-to-3/4”-female hose adapter to hook up directly to the threaded inlet water connection. connect the “Y” hose to the hot/cold spigots and the adapter to the outlet of the “Y” and the inlet of the washer. (a short 3/4” extension hose may be needed, depending on how far your washer is placed from your hot/cold valves.) you will have to adjust the water temp at the hot/cold wall spigots for each cycle, or just leave them set at warm for most wash and rinse cycles...

      Set it to program nine and make sure that the hose is on the ground. You can also pour some antifreeze into it and spin it through the system including the hose. It won't damage your unit but will make sure that the water is removed in any liquid left over is antifreeze. Then in the spring you can easily plush it with fresh water and go back to using it like nothing happened.

    You stated at the beginning of your video that this washer was good in a college dorm, but dorm rooms do not have water faucets to hook the hoses to. Maybe the college you attended did have running water in each dorm room, but my college
    'No Frills University', aka 'Questionable Diploma University' did not have running water in the dorm rooms. So I ask you, will this washer work if I fill it with a bucket, meaning filling for the wash cycles, and the rinse cycles with a bucket?

    • @shangaosurprise
      @shangaosurprise  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh man. Check out my other video on twin tub washing machines. that one will definitely work with a bucket. My concern would be that you would need to be there to fill it with water as it automatically switches between cycles. You might end up burning out the input drain mechanism if it's always dry. Twin tub washing machines are even less expensive and have fewer complex moving parts. Let me know in a comment on the twin tub video if it's a better fit.

    • @rongilbert3067
      @rongilbert3067 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shangaosurprise I could be there to fill the washer each time it needs water. In fact, I could stop each wash and rinse cycle one minute before it was about to end and I could manually drain, then refill with a bucket or two of water. Would this approach keep the part from burning out?
      If you can not manually add water to this machine, then you must stop saying that it works in a dorm room!!

    Have you figured out how to use softener? I just got mine today and was nervous about it but actually really love it. I have a laundry room but I have to remove a washer and dryer and repair the floor after a flood so right now I'm using it in one of my bathrooms. I was prepared to buy a new faucet for my bathroom to be able to connect it and somehow it fit perfectly on the faucet on my bathtub that I never thought in a million years it would. I'm still learning how to use it but I seems pretty cut and dry... except for the softener? I see a spot that says softener on the top of the "basket" and it has like 3 or 4 holes. Is it for liquid softener? When do you pour it in? I'm confused by this.

    • @shangaosurprise

      There's somewhere to pour fabric softener into the top of the drum. I presume that after it spins it uses gravity to push the fabric softener into a new chamber that gets flushed into the rinse cycle.

      You can buy a comparable hose at Home Depot or something similar. It's the same hose that is used to hook up conventional washing machines. You will have to mix and match some parts in order to enable a quick adapter and a machine connector. Remember your plumbing tape

    So you casually mentioned the need for plumber's tape but not a word about where it needs to be used. Are you using the hoses that came with the machine or did you replace them with some hoses that weren't made for that machine? Or did you get an extension for the original hose??? Where at which point is the tape needed? Also, if one has to remove an aerator in order to make the hose fit the faucet does that aerator need to be replaced and the removed every time the washing takes place? Thanks in advance for an explanation of these issues.

    • @shangaosurprise
      @shangaosurprise  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When the aerator is removed so that Quick change adapter can be added there will no longer be an aerator on that faucet, and it is impractical to add it and remove it every time because the tape becomes shredded. Plumbers tape is a finicky beast, I'd recommend that you look up some videos on its application. Even if you follow instructions precisely there are some times that it still leaks. It usually takes me two or three tries. I will say that the direction of the tape application matters, but can do no justice to the explanation so hunting for videos yourself is the best plan. The tape goes on the faucet after the aerator has been removed and also on the unit itself. You can buy an extension by purchasing a portable dishwasher hose which is sold at the likes of home Depot but the one that came with it was adequate, if a bit short.

    • @dougfriendly7676
      @dougfriendly7676 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shangaosurprise Oh.....on the faucet!!! Thanks. I must have missed hearing you say that (if you did), so sorry. I guess you are not suggesting that tape needs to be used anywhere on the hoses themselves but only to keep the water faucet from leaking where the aerator used to be. That makes sense. I saw some reactor using a different machine using the tape to connect an extension to her hose so that's why I was temporarily confused.

    • @shangaosurprise
      @shangaosurprise  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the faucet remains on and an internal component regulates the water. Aside from the quick connect, it's no different than installing a regular washing machine and leaving the water to the machine on. When you want to move it away you simply turn the water off and detach the quick-connect.

    I actually love this panda portable washing machine. It looks very simular to the one my friends daughter has and it does a really good job. My friends daughter just bought her first home in the suburbs. Its a small 2 bedroom starter home that's perfect for a beginner who is single like she is who is just starting out, learning the ropes, and on a tight budget. The house is small but its perfect for a single person, or a couple just starting out. She bought a really nice portable washing machine because thats all she can afford for now, and it fits perfectly in her kitchen in a cubby area. However, the hose connection appears to only have the capability to connect to average size faucets, not fancy upgraded faucets most kitchens have today. You can't disconnect your lovely fancy faucet every time you need to do your laundry. My friend had no choice but to place the machine in her basement. However she hates basements and thinks they are creepy and hated the fact that she had no choice but to put the machine down there anyway. The basement does have a washer dryer hook up, and a medium shelf, but again, she couldn't afford appliances right now. The good thing about all this is her basement has one of those really deep plastice utility sinks with a standard faucet. Lucky her right? So she improvised. The basement is finished so thats a good thing. She went to Home Depot & bought a small dehumidifer because you need it for a basement regardless. Then she went to the dollar store and bought a close line rope, some close pins, a few picture plaques that say: laundry area, wash & fold, and also got a couple of picture frames with pictures of rustic basins and flowers, and a chalk board to write on. She even bought rug Mat's to match the decor, and a plastic bin with 3 drawers just to store the close pins, dryer sheets and so on. She created the cutest little laundry room area. She attatched the closeline rope from one small area of the basement to another & rigged the rope so that when the cloths were dry, she can un hook one side so the close line isn't a sore eye. She improvised on a tight budget and created an awesome little laundry room set up so it feels more comfortable and not feel like a creepy basement even though the basement is beautiful and finished. So If I had to vote on a portable machine like the panda, I would give it a thumbs up since I saw what my friends daughter created with something as simple as a portable washing machine, and a few things from the dollar store to give her an incentive. Now she doesn't think her basement is as creepy as she thought anymore 🤷‍♀️ lol 😁
