What I like about this scene is that it's the first time they've ever actually talked to each other without some kind of misunderstanding making one or both angry. Some people say it's unrealistic how quickly they cool off but Robby made a point in season 4 finale of saying how tired he was of being angry all the time, Sam is out of the picture for both of them, and they both have Johnny.

It’s not unrealistic. Fights more often than not make guys have a mutual respect for each other that makes them cooler and even become friends a lot of the time.
yeah i think its extremely realistic especially for us guys, you build up so much contempt for a dude you barely know and over stuff that you might've been right about but later seems so dumb and because your angry you hold on to it and let it vindicate you for your hatred and in this day and age its so much harder to just take it to the street and fight it out with nowhere to put it and nothing to do with all that anger you just carry it letting it solidify in your mind that this other person is the bad guy but once both of parties do finally get a chance to just let it all out and in the end both of you are tired in pain and finally have got everything off your chest, with both of you in this slightly more vulnerable state it gets rid of all the bs and u can really get a good look at the other person

Miguel is something special out of all characters in the Karate Kid universe. He has the discipline and mindset of Miyagi do. He has the ferocity and combative technique of cobra Kai. He also has some of his own magic worked in. He represents the best of both worlds.

No. He didn’t spare Miguel. He was Miyagi do trained, but he isn’t naturally peaceful and pacifistic as Miguel is, only fighting when necessary.
I could see Miguel trying to de-escalate a fight, but Robbie not as much.

Yeah because whilst we all love a good rivalry… it’s nice that after this fight they begin the process of becoming friends or allies at least especially as they equally realise that they are/one day will be (half) brothers - meaning that they will have to get along… doesn’t mean they automatically like each other but now have a mutual understanding & reasoning why they can no longer hate each other

This was a good scene. I knew Diaz wouldn’t kick him off the rail, but there was a split second I thought maybe he would. The writers on this show is really good. Not always predictable and keeps everything fresh. Really enjoying this series a lot!

Finally Robby get redemption, and Miguel gets the fight he needed
I like how the energy of the fight moves along. They start slow, gauging each other and maybe slightly hesitating because neither of them WANT to fight. Then Johnny eggs them on, and they start to pick it up. It’s isn’t until Miguel lands the first real blow that they fully commit to the fight. Only after they’re at their highest point in the fight, do they confront their issues. And when there is no energy left, they finally talk it out. This is a really good fight in my opinion.

the only thing I’d add is that for the first phase of the fight I think regardless of their resolve to fight (though I’d certainly say at least Miguel did) both Robby and Miguel recognized each other as a serious threat hence the defensive probing.
I think it got real for Miguel long before it sunk in for Robbie.
I love how the guitar kicks in as soon as Robbie processes that hit.

What's interesting is that was actually Daniel's idea. When Johnny was talking to, Daniel was the one to say 'if we hadn't stopped at three points we would maybe we would have gotten all our aggression out.' After all the world building exercises Johnny tried to follow on GOGGLE (yes, he's still Johnny) following Daniel's advice is the ONLY thing that worked.

No matter who we are we cannot change our identity. We can only change who we are by our attitude and apptitude and nothing more. Sometimes we need to find ourselves and learn who we truly are and who we are not. We may not always like who and what we find in ourselves, but at at least we can find closure to our past to make a brighter present and future and that is often enough in the long run.
What's amazing is that Johnny and Daniel kind of switched situations for once, and Daniel gave Johnny an advice something that S1 Johnny would normally give to anyone.

I love the detail of having Miguel punch first.
Viewers after the 5th season were talking about how Miguel improved in Karate by mixing all the styles/techniques he had learned together, while also, making it his own. But even through that journey and development, his first Karate lesson with Johnny stuck with him, “strike first, strike hard”.
I like how it reminds us as the viewer that even though Miguel and his style has changed throughout the seasons, his origin is Cobra Kai.
It’s bittersweet knowing the upcoming 6th season is the last, but as Johnny said, “Cobra Kai never dies”.
Same thing with Robby. Even though he and his style has changed throughout the seasons, his origin is Miyagi-Do.
Lawrence and Larusso are taking cobra kai back and creating a new dojo with two entities

@@giantrobby5050 I assume the kid will be a girl since it’d add more development to Johnny’s character given how old school he is and plus if the kid is a boy, there may be some jealousy from Robby and Miguel because they might feel left out since they already grew up without a father figure so they probably don’t want to feel second to a boy that’s biologically Johnny’s and also one he didn’t abandon.

I think it was perfectly done, they are basically brothers now. And also the writers didn’t back away from the pregnancy thing as it would have been so easy for her to take the test and just say it was negative - I’m glad they stuck with it.

we reached the point that they're going global. All valley is just the starting point, so they have to unify everything
Kinda like Captain Tsubasa when they go fight National Teams.
Sadly, this means that the other character will get gradually nerfed. Hawk, Kyler, Chris already got pegged down a notch, and a lor of people didn't get screentime. Piper disappeared completely, Mitch had that traitor storyline but did basically nothing else, bert and nate didn't grow at all despite being 1st hour trainees.
my thoughts are that we'll have a regression with the only relevant boys being Miguel and Robbie, with Hawk, Kenny as "second tier" and maybe Danyel's son and demetri with a bit more screentime than the other fodder.
On the other hand, the female Roster increased by one with Lee now being the official "third power" in the girls league. Pretty sure that those three will be the main female for the myagi-fang-whatever they'll name the dojo
We dreamed so much of Robbie and Miguel being the dream team, and now we'll have them fight impossibly strong opponents, tbh i'm not even that sad about losing a bunch of side character, as long as they keep it interesting with new, international rivals. They needed this change of pace, everyone was getting tired of the Dojo roulette with every student changing allegiance and sensei 3 times

I said time and time again. Sometimes the way to start a good friendship is a good fight. It took Miguel and Robby quite awhile but now they have a connection.

My favorite moment in the entire series. From where the fight starts to where Johnny tells Miguel and Robby about the baby, both characters get really good character development and get to end their hate and rivalry in the exact same way it started. And their reaction to Johnny slipping and telling them about the baby was so wholesome.

When the fight hit its climax, I couldn’t help but notice that Robby stopped attacking as Miguel became more aggressive. To me this shows that Miguel was holding onto a lot more about the season 2 fight and it surprised Robby. I even think for a moment Robby thought Miguel was going to kick him over the edge and might have been waiting for it as that was his biggest regret. It was something he wished he could take back.
This is realistic. Robbie crippled him temporarily even though it was unintentional. Robbie may not like Miguel but any grudge he had couldn't stand up to that.

This is exactly what happened. Alot of people comment about how Miguel is the more superior fighter, but nobody takes into account how they are at different stages in life emotionally. The writers perfectly wrote this fight, setting up a good talk between the two.

@@karansinghania7729 it's not that he stopped he just had less fire in him because to be fair he knew he was guilty of putting Miguel in the hospital. Miguel on the other hand had that fire because he was out for some kind of justice. He didn't just overpower him, he won because at the end of it all he was in the right, he had every right to hold that grudge.
I actually noticed how Robby takes his environment to his advantage in the school fight he used the railing as a balance to double kick Miguel and the wall as a wall jump to then well kick Miguel really showing Robby's BIQ when it comes to real fights

He took a corrupted philosophy and an aggressive even reckless fight style, and he managed to actually reform it and slowly bring out the actual good qualities of it, both physical and philosophical.
Regardless of win lose ratio or his sheltered knowledge, Johnny was indeed the best sensei when compared to his dojo and sensei lineage.
This is probably the last time we’ll see Robby and Miguel fight against each other. What a send off to their rivalry ❤️

Robby’s face at 2:56 shows that Miguel was always the better fighter. Robby is more skilled but His emotions get the Better of him most of the time but Miguel on the other hand has the iq and More clear mind.

Insane considering how they both started out. Reminds me of Daniel and Johnny. Johnny is clearly more talented but Daniel has that clear mind to him when he fights.
@@AstroSully Even though Robbie has the muscles and the fanciest moves, Miguel is more efficient, has a great size advantage and it is the more aggressive of the two. It's like Robbie fights to show how damn good he is, and Miguel fights to reduce his opponents to nothing.He also won the first two times, just the second one he held back and Robbie lost his shit completely, like he felt insulted by it. On real life Xolo is a good martial artist but both Robbie and specially Hawk actors are superior.

I think Robby and Miguel are like equals, depending on where they are with their emotions. Miguel had more fire in this fight, the way he wanted to get it on while Robby just kinda shrugged like yeah lets do it. People tend to forget that Miguel has a reason to fight with fire, while Robby already let go of his anger. It also showed when Robby was talking to Hawk/Eli about what an asshole he was for all the shit that he pulled. To me this scene just confirms that Miguel had more fire in the moment, maybe we'll see a fight where they both are on the same level emotionaly so we can really see who takes the cake then.
This is why Miguel is my FAVORITE character! He is the most honorable person in the entire series and I hope to meet his actor and get his autograph and a photo with him

Could we all just take a moment to applaud Johnny anticipation to get these two bozos clear out there problems and make truce through out the episode he took them to dinner, lock them in his apartment heck he even talk some sense into Daniel of let go of this anger forgive and forget something he should of told himself a long time ago if he and Daniel would have maybe they would of become friends and a lot of disasters could of been prevented. This was Lawrence final plan to get these two fight it out let out the steamed and anger through the middle of the fight they find out they have a lot in common neither of em wanted to fight to hurt they wanted to fight to become something but they got caught with there own crazy teenage love life lost track of who they were or who they wanted to become. Johnny was so pleased that those two finally made peace he accidentally blurred out there’s a baby in the way. Johnny has a plan he wants to built a family with Carmen and the baby and he wants Robbie and Miguel to be part of it put aside there rivalry. It was clear that they finally made truce but with Johnny baby reveal a brotherhood developed🌷💛

In the beginning of the fight, you can hear Miguel's theme, "Slither", playing the background. From there we know that this is Miguel's fight. Robby may be doing the more complex and complicated moves but Miguel is always the one in control. By using more grounded, simple, and powerful moves, Miguel dominates the fight. At this point in the fight, Miguel is gone and "El Serpiente" has taken over.
At first you can hear "Rematch" too, when Miguel and Robby were fighting in the balcony before R got pinned on the ground and the tragedy happened.

I love how Johnny learned from his mistakes and listened to Daniel who said that if they fought it out and not on the mat, they probably would have fought out the aggression and animosity. Johnny saw that Miguel and Robby were heading down the same path so he staged this to let them get it out of their systems. Great idea from both Senseis

I love how Miguel and Robby have a fighting style that’s opposite to their personalities.
Miguel, who’s initially the nerdy sweet one, has the aggressive and risky Cobra Kai style.
Robby, who’s the rebellious truant, has the defensive and safe Miyagi-Do style.
I feel like that contrast is cool and adds to the nuance of the characters.
Loved how Robbie is honestly scared shitless when Miguel yells, knowing full well he's about to get kicked over the railing just like he did to Miguel.
This season to me was the best season and every character had a great story arc and a lot of these characters had a redemption story

Miguel is the better fighter of the two, but Robby's fighting style is a lot more complete than Miguel's (which is mostly offensive), so these two balance each other out perfectly.

Not sure I actually agree... I think Robby still actually may be the best fighter/kid in the series. But this has never been answered. Every fight he's lost, could have gone either way. He lost to Miguel and Hawk (yes, I know Miguel beat him in season 2, but Hawk has improved a lot since then).
He lost to Miguel in the tournament, but I think he out fought him. Miguel had to attack his shoulder to score his points.
The school fight went either way, with Miguel finally getting the upper hand, then we know how that ends. These last fights weren't really meant to answer it either. Maybe they finally give us an answer, where they have to fight/compete in the tournament...
Probably not, much like Johnny and Daniel, it will always be up to debate, and I think that's where they'll always leave it.

He clearly out fought Miguel in the tournament. Miguel was struggling with Robby, and only beat him by attacking his shoulder. That was not a win to be proud of.
In the school fight, it was going back and forth, and honestly, it really looked like Robby was winning.
Miguel eventually got Robby to the ground and pinned him, then showed mercy.
I do not think Hawk is actually better than Robby. If Robby had that Miyagi Do focus, Hawk loses. Robby lost focus.
Point is, the fights Robby lost could have gone either way... That doesn't mean he's inferior. When you're close in skill as Miguel and Hawk, you can still lose... The writers were very carefully to illustrate how close Robby lost each time.
I definitely think Miguel and Robby are the best fighters. Hawk is definitely in their class. Its 1.A, 1.B, and 1.C, when fighters are that close, anyone is capable of beating the other. Neither of them are far superior to the other.
I'm not counting the Hawk vs Kenny fight, because that was just absolute stupidity.
These two as a team are damn near unbeatable. They're Daniel's and Johnny's first students after all, so they're the most experienced of the bunch

@@240devil1 eh in the S4 finale, Robby was about to beat hawk until he held back, off course people brush it off by saying that hawk was also about to beat Robby until the time ran out but that's the thing, the time ran out and hawk wasn't fast enough, so I think Robby is either equal to or better than hawk. I'd say Robby is number 3 considering Hawk kicked his butt in the All Valley. I mean the only reason Robby even got a point on Hawk was because Daniel was handicapping his students by telling them to use only MD karate (the same MD karate that Robby knew what to expect). Once Daniel permitted Hawk to go on offence (which Hawk is better at) the tables instantly turned. Had Daniel not been so stubborn and allowed Hawk to do things his way from the start, then the latter would've had a one point lead until the clock ran out.

I love how in different ways they both mirror Johnny and Daniel. The show is so damn good
This scene was really great. All the hostility between these two spanned over seasons. They finally got to duke it out with the same ferocity of season 2’s brawl, but this time Miguel won. And damn he needed that win badly. It made them even, and this was the first time they were able to talk without a misunderstanding or straight up hostility at the end of it. And to top it off, they came out of it with the knowledge that they’ll be sharing a sibling. It really was seasons of character development and dynamics coming together here. Love it.
Good to know Miguel is back to full strength again like he used to be.

Honestly one of the best fight outcomes, we learn so much about what the characters were feelng, see their character growth, and watching the fight is amazing. I teared up when Robby was explaining what he felt.

Can we just acknowledge how this fight truly captures their fighting styles. Miguel isnt flashy like haw and robby and relies on effective techniques and combos while robby's is similar but occasionlly does flashy. Miguel usually strikes first and robby is defensive. But anyway i glad these 2 have finally solved their beef it just goes to show johnny really cares about them both

This is the phenomenal fight ever and I was happy when Miguel and Robby both recalled on the horrible school fight and wishing what shouldn't have happened
Cobra kai is the sequel that didn't actually ruin the original but made it better.
This made me feel like when I was watching Cobra Kai before my subscrpition when out. I have watched a lot of tributes of cobra kai this week and I love it. Cobra Kai taught me how to fight and how to not give a shit. this scene is so intense and they way it ended was right. miguel could have kicked of robby but he chose another path. I didnt get into karate to hurt people I did it to be badass. The flashbacks are awesome and seeing Robby and Johhny as father and son made my day. Thank you bro for this amazing video.

Wasn't until after Miguel delivered that kick to Robbys face that they got serious. This fight was amazing and both of them needed it in order to move on. Miguel could've pushed Robby off the edge, but didn't, while Robby tells him that he felt guilty about what he did, but his rage got the best of him. Nice to see these two make peace.
Miguel was definitely working through some trauma in this fight.

Miguel looking concerned when he first kicked Robbie in the face, but Robbie turns around and Miguel's expression goes back to his game face. Glad to see how the choreography has improved. Of course considering that it’s been four years since the first season, you’d expect the actors to become more familiar with martial arts. As a TKD Student for eight years, I am pretty impressed. Can’t wait to see how much they improve in the final season
