Just orderd a oneplus 8 pro 128gb. I think it has the better value because of the ips rating, 120hz display and the better ram. You said ram was equal but it isn't, the 8 pro has ddr5 vs the ddr4 ram in the normal version. This makes a pro version much more future proof imo. I try to do 3 years with a phone. Liked the video keep it up.
@eric t it's his initials MKB with HD as in Hi-def. He covered it in a video a year or two ago. It was just what he came up with when he was younger and he stuck with it.
The best reviewer hands down. Mentioned every spec of the phone without beign repetitive and compared everything with other flagshipsin a good way. Awesome💯
OnePlus has played it very smart and they've achieved what they wanted. They priced low at the start with great specs and then started boosting the price each year. They've built the same kind of fanbase that Apple and Samsung have in a relatively short amount of time in comparison. They can now charge flagship prices because they know they have that fanbase that will buy and promote them no matter what.
I currently have the 7 Pro and have ordered the 8 Pro. I love Oxygen OS and use my phone for business and pleasure and do a lot of spreadsheets, word processing, watching videos as well as the odd game of COD Mobile. Hence, I like to replace them every year and, for me, OnePlus always hits the sweet spot. I have never been into Apple products because they all look and feel the same. For me, the open nature and the ability to customise Android is important and I always go for a powerful model. I have never liked the Samsung OS, although I did try a Note 9 but only kept it for six months before buying the 7 Pro (I just did not like the OS and the S Pen hardly ever came out after the initial novelty value). I have tried the Huawei Mate products (I had the Mate 10 Pro) but have since ruled them out because of the issues with the lack of Google services. Therefore, for me, OnePlus is my goto brand and I have never been disappointed.
I'm the other way around. I love oxygen os customisation and simplicity. My last was oneplus 5. But i've been using note series since note 2 until note 10+. My collection of notes over the years is too many and i can't live without s pen. So samsung note series is my go to since no other phone can compete with stylus (moto g stylus announce recently just so weak compare to note 10+). Looking forward for note 20 series.

Nice video. Here's a little advice for you, if you want to differentiate a bit from other tech reviewers. Try to go more in-depth into the slightly niche features of the phone. For example, some people, myself included are interested in seeing the manual controls of the camera too (Pro tab), to understand how low/high the ISO and shutter speed goes in manual mode, etc. Also, what customizations are there for the always on display, how many steps of audio volume you get, that sort of thing. No tech reviewer ever seems to touch on that stuff with very few exceptions.
Hands down the best Android phone. It got the very buttery-smooth 120hz display, fast charging, good cameras, IP68 rating water resistance, big battery and most importantly, the very bright screen. Way better than the S20+.
New subscriber here! Really enjoyed and appreciated the depth of your review on both the 8 and 8 pro. Personally, I have always loved OnePlus but had not owned one of their devices since the OG OnePlus one. After the 7pro and 7t being so highly rated and reviewed, I knew my switch from my Pixel 2 XL would be to a OnePlus device. The 8 pro was exactly what I was looking for, flagship specs, features, and camera for under $1k USD. I was able to snag a launch day bundle with the ultramarine blue 12/256 GB 8pro and am anxiously awaiting delivery. For me, I loved my experience with the original flagship killer and was more than willing to pay what is, to me, a totally reasonable price for the first true OnePlus flagship.
I preordered my OP8 pro in black, Im excited to see a 120Hz screen as well as using the camera, I would use the colour filter to be more interesting with pictures, I will eventually get the wireless charger for it but I usually charge it wirelessly overnight. With regards to pricing I can understand why they have priced it higher than usual as they want to compete with the big dogs, but one thing that OP should do is compromise to get more people to have a OP phone, Apple have done it and its been successful
Great review! Always pleased to hear your thoughts about a new released phone, even more if it is a OnePlus device 🙌 Two questions: Do you think OnePlus 8 is well placed against some other flagship competitors such as Samsung Galaxy S20 (which will cost much less in some months) or Iphone 11? Obliterate what? Why do you compared it to the Iphone? Why not samsung or LG? Iphone is an entirely different ego system. For that reason, they have their own customers so let it be that. If you want to compare than compare it to another Android phone with the same ego system.
@@forthosewhodare7325 even that, one plus added optimized battery charging (an iOS 13 feature, almost a year old now), but yeah you have to reckon one plus for copying good stuff and not like other android manufactures were they try to be clever and they can't
In two European hardware review sites which I respect, the S20+ or Ultra did pretty good on the battery test. On par with Find X2 Pro an iPhone 11 Pro. I think the Tech Chap is little biased or something went wrong with the test. Maybe the sort of test can make a difference. It's just like the camera. Some reviews like Tech chap are in favorite of the OP8 camera and in some comparison reviews the OP8 is still lagging
OP 8 Pro was third in MrWhoseTheBoss's video and second in Tech Chap's video. Difference is in Galaxy s20 ultra beating OP 8 pro in MrWhoseTheBosses's video. The reason for this difference is, Tech Chap was using the Exynos version of s20 ultra and MrWhoseTheBoss was using the SD865 version. It is well known Snapdragon is faster and more efficient (better battery life) than Exynos.
Mate, how about the 7 pro or 7T pro in 2020? What will I lose/gain in buying the 7 pro compared to the 8? I'm not too interested in 8 or 8 pro because of their prices and specs ratio.
Now their USP has gone, price, their selling point is now only Oxygen OS. Does this make the OnePlus 8 Pro a better choice than the Galaxy S20 or iPhone 11 Pro? For some people.
Selling points for me are: - Oxygen OS mostly - Dual Sim - Bright af screen - Good, just not the best camera - Still cheaper than Samsung where I live - physical stores and good experience with warranty service
@@GreNadeMusicNL only the software is a USP though? Samsung's are also dual sim. At least my European S10 is. Super useful. Good points though. And let's face the price will drop. Phones are always much more at launch.
@@MrGoobee they've taken the third spot. Which is great. Huawai were killing it but I've seen a noticeable drop in interest in the Mate 30 Pro and P40 Pro. For me I'm sticking with Samsung as they also sell watches/tablets and Your Phone on Windows has the most features on Modern Samsungs
@@bradavon it's a really big part of the phone, the software is extremely important in my opinion. I had a samsung with one ui, and absolutely hated it. The alert slider is also nice, local repair centres you can just walk in and get your screen or battery replaced without having to send it off and missing your phone for 2 weeks. All those things make it worth it for me
Watching this video in my one plus 7T pro bought 2 weeks ago. So far so good performance. I think one plus 7T pro is quite ok for next 2 years for me. One plus 8 or 8 Pro is not so great bump over 7t pro I think.
I was going to order the 8 pro but now I'm thinking the standard 8 will be ok. Or would something like the S10 5G at a similar price be better? Thanks as always great content
Very nice review, chap! I´m no Tekkie, so this question might be stupid, but: Is PWM an issue with an 90 or 120 Hz display. I seem to have like flies eyes and am ultra sensitive to screen flicker.
Is the battery life good because your test said so or did you notice it in actual usage as well? I'm thinking more about how it performs in standby time as well
Hello from India. I liked your content and it's amazing to see how much effort you put in to achieve this kind of perfection. The amount of details is actually more than the likes of MKBHD. 👍 I want an advice from you. I am upgrading from Samsung Note 9 (Exynos) . My options are S10+, S20+ (both Exynos) iPhone 11 Pro Max and the Oneplus 8 Pro. My priorities are excellent call quality via earpiece and speaker phone, excellent audio quality, excellent battery life and smooth overall performance with the least amount of frame drops. For me the basics of communication like Signal and WIFI reception and calling experience matter a lot. Which one should I go for?
Hi Tom, I know this is an old video but hope you see this and give me your thoughts and opinions. I have a huawei Mate 20 Pro on EE and really want this One Plus 8 Pro. Ive been with EE for well over 5 years, so is it worth moving to Three just for this device? What are your thoughts? Cheers
The good news about the camera is that it will improve dramatically over time. When the 7 series was released, the camera was atrocious. After a plethora of updates (which one plus is very good at releasing) the camera improved so much it looked like a whole new device. If the same happens for the 8 pro, the camera will be on par with the best in a matter of months.

Hi. Is it worth to update from Huawei P20 Pro to OnePlus 8 Pro 12+256? Mainly in terms of camera quality... Sure the power is better with Snapdragon 865
Yeah but it's still really a flagship killer when we compare it with samsung or other companies...and 8 pro cost 54,999 india...so it's a killer for sure 😂😂
The pricing is getting ridiculous. I'll seriously consider opening my 6T to replace the battery when the time comes. Really wish for more 4-500$ phones with clean software.

Hi there! Since you switch between mobiles often for testing, do you happen to know how to transfer data from a huawei mobile to Oneplus 8 pro? if theres a safe and secure method, then I'm even more incline to get this!
On spot and really detailed review 👌👌👌. However, I currently have Oneplus 7T Pro. Is it a huge upgrade Oneplus 8 Pro in terms of camera performance and sharpness?
Great video! I'm still torn between wanting all the 8 Pro feature but in shock about the price hike on both models. May need to ask for a pay rise before making the move. I've had the OnePlus One & 3T in the past and OxygenOS & the alert slider are the main reasons I'm even considering lashing out. I'm looking outside the box right now to see what other options (brands/models) are on the market. Just bought a Realme XT a few months ago just to tie me over until I make the leap. My 3T was starting to show it's age in terms of battery life.
I just bought the OP7t for £469 GB. From John Lewis..( for UK viewers ) with an unchallenged 2 yr. warranty. I moved up from the OP3t and as a non techie, for the price, this was just too good a deal to miss. FYI, one of your fellow reviewers does an entire 15 min review with the OP 7 pro submerged in glass pitcher of water. .and it came out and worked..no problem. And one thing that annoys me about OP users is that with all earlier iterations the complaints were .." Why no wireless charging .. or why no IP rating ! " So OP adds them...and now it's " why has the price gone up ? " WTF did they expect ??
The Ultramarine Blue is also avalible in other countries, not only in the UK. I ordered on in Ultramarine Blue in 12GB RAM/256GB ROM because in germany black is only avalible in 8GB/128GB model and the green and blue models are 12gb/256GB versions here. :)
honestly if they had just put the main camera from the 8 pro on the 8 the and then only the wide angle and cut the macro then the phone would be worth it. I know they don't want to slash the sales of the pro but between the screen, the charging, the lens reduction, and not paying for IP i feel like they could have squeezed the 200 dollars there. Either way no pop up camera makes me sad.

Please Do a Comparison with the 8 Pro and 7 Pro. To show what the better buy is for those looking for best price to value Oneplus Pro phones. Thanks and looking forward to it.
The 7 pro is a lot cheaper and better for value but the 8 pro is obviously better.
Planning to get one this month, is it worth it still? Or better get the 8T?

You can have it, paying 200$ more and getting a x2 pro.
I hope you can answer this, I'm considering buying the OnePlus 8 pro and you have said that you've been using it for a couple of weeks, there are some issues within oneplus 8 pro indian units having issues for displays, have you also experienced that issues?
I think this is best Quality detailed review of this Great phone of 2020 👌✌️😍thank you 😇

If you're disappointed with the insane price then get the regular OP8, not the pro.

Fantastic video as always Tom. Much love from Ireland 🇮🇪. Hope you're staying safe. I bought the Pro model on launch day & it's due to come this coming week ☺️☺️☺️. I got the glacial green colour which I originally didn't like when I saw the leaks but looks so much better than I first thought. EVERYTHING OnePlus makes , completely obliterates anything iPhone , don't ever forget that people !!! Are we clear ?!!!
Obliterate what? Why do you compared it to the Iphone? Why not samsung or LG? Iphone is an entirely different ego system. For that reason, they have their own customers so let it be that. If you want to compare than compare it to another Android phone with the same ego system.

Tom which phone do u recommend me for photography now days? The best for photography
Why did the OP 8 Pro did bad in the Battery test of MrWhoseTheBoss, it was like 4th in his video, while 2nd in your video.
MrWhoseTheBoss was using it at 120hz and QuadHD at the same time, and probably going on heavier apps, and recording 4k video for extensive time.
$$$ 🤫
Whosetheboss is biased because he is a paid sponsor of apple, his opinion on anything tech is completely invalid by that reason alone
Maybe they want to be the next Samsung!!
Selling points for me are:
- Oxygen OS mostly
- Dual Sim
- Bright af screen
- Good, just not the best camera
- Still cheaper than Samsung where I live
- physical stores and good experience with warranty service

I'm a samsung fan boy, but I gotta admit this phone really got my heart🔥💙
The good news about the camera is that it will improve dramatically over time. When the 7 series was released, the camera was atrocious. After a plethora of updates (which one plus is very good at releasing) the camera improved so much it looked like a whole new device. If the same happens for the 8 pro, the camera will be on par with the best in a matter of months.
Everyone: focusing on buying the 8 pro...
Me: Still planning on buying the 7pro😂😂

Great video! I'm still torn between wanting all the 8 Pro feature but in shock about the price hike on both models. May need to ask for a pay rise before making the move.
I've had the OnePlus One & 3T in the past and OxygenOS & the alert slider are the main reasons I'm even considering lashing out. I'm looking outside the box right now to see what other options (brands/models) are on the market. Just bought a Realme XT a few months ago just to tie me over until I make the leap. My 3T was starting to show it's age in terms of battery life.
Question is, can I install OxygenOS on an Oppo Find X2? I think it’s a better camera set up with the same hardware.
So OP adds them...and now it's " why has the price gone up ? "
WTF did they expect ??
The Ultramarine Blue is also avalible in other countries, not only in the UK. I ordered on in Ultramarine Blue in 12GB RAM/256GB ROM because in germany black is only avalible in 8GB/128GB model and the green and blue models are 12gb/256GB versions here. :)
I meant it's the only colour not coming to the UK unfortunately
Times are hard here in India. A giftaway for any of your phones would be greatly appreciated.
honestly if they had just put the main camera from the 8 pro on the 8 the and then only the wide angle and cut the macro then the phone would be worth it. I know they don't want to slash the sales of the pro but between the screen, the charging, the lens reduction, and not paying for IP i feel like they could have squeezed the 200 dollars there. Either way no pop up camera makes me sad.
