- Every Mothra scene from Godzilla King of the Monsters down to the second. I only included scenes where Mothra was physically on screen, including when she would be displayed on a monitor, or when using her God Ray's.
I did not include scenes where she was encased within her egg, cocoon, or when Godzilla was using his thermal pulses with her wing pattern and roar.
Had I included them, Mothra's screen time would likely be just over five minutes.
Mothra and Godzilla are properties of Toho Co. Ltd, and I do not own these characters in any way.
I only included scenes where Mothra was physically on screen... This does not include when Godzilla was using the nuclear pulses. Please read the description before commenting about a scene you feel was left out. ❤

When Mothra stung Rodan, my mom had two words: "Good girl!" Mothra is possibly my favorite in this movie.
I liked that moment. It was like Mothra's way of saying, "You need a time out!"

You can tell she never wanted to kill rodan. She just wanted to get him out of the way as at that time he was being an unnecessary burden in the battle. So beautiful!

2:22 was the best scene of Mothra in the movie. The way her wings spread under the falls was so mystical it gave me chills when I saw it in the theaters the first time. They truly made her as beautiful, as she was a force to be reckoned with.
Yeah they really out did themselves with her this time.They did use her song too but It was slowed down alot but gave more of an impact that way imo.She was always a force for good and they truly showed how badass she can be as well. Her story though is actually pretty sad I cry each time she dies. Imo She is in no way a monster she is more of a s aint or goddess

I think why we all like Mothra, besides her beauty and majesty of course, is because she showed NO FEAR in the face of certain death. Rodan mortally wounded her, but she puts his ass on the ground (you seem him writhing in pain on his back), she then goes and has the short "conversation" with Godzilla, showing him that he is not alone in the fight. Then she stares down Ghidorah and spreads her wings over Godzilla as if to say: "you shall hurt him again" and then she FUCKING CHARGES Ghidorah, dead set on fucking his ass up next (dying or not). She was fully ready to just drop the hammer on Ghidorah, never mind the danger to herself. That my friends is why Mothra is the Queen of the Monsters

Also Mothra was very popular with women in Japan so they failed to target as well as they should have
she may have only been in the movie for a cumulative total of 5 minutes, but she stole every scene she was in
Its even more impressive that in those 5 minutes, they practically nailed what she is and her purpose in the world. I'm extremely hopeful that she gets her own film.

Also she has adaptation with each birth, so future Mothra's can have new features, like this Mothra had a stinger that previous incarnations didn't.
Well, that's kinda evolution more than "adaptation with each birth", but Mothra evolves more quickly than other Kaijus, since she leaves many offsprings constantly aaaaaaaaall the time.

He is the main one featured in this movie without wings, (Scylla, Behemoth, MUTO, etc are all featured but in minor roles, none have wings) but let me assure you, fighting winged opponents or ground ones, he generally wins. It's been stated that Mothra expected there to be twins singing to her when she hatched, and that she was angered when the containment field killed the insects that flocked to her.
Given that lights exploded with a flash of her bioluminescense, it can be assumed that she knowingly and consciously shut down the containment field herself.
And yet, she never killed anyone, just webbed them up.
Though, whether or not the giant spiders around killed anyone is up for debate.

At one moment, Rodan tries to attack Ghidora, but they beated the shit out of him. Then he picks a fight with Mothra, but he didn't realize she's strong as fuck and gets stabbed. And after everyone watched Godzilla disintegrate Ghidora, Rodan appears and bows to him. Rodan is the Starscream of this universe.
And if you see closely Godzilla seemed angered when looking at Rodan
"Sometimes, cowards do survive"
He was fighting mothra because Ghidorah told him too. He lost to Ghidorah and therefore had to do whatever Ghidorah wanted. I'm sure he would have rather not had to fight mothra if he had the choice.

I honestly can't choose a favorite scene of Mothra in the new King of the Monsters, she's an angel in every single one, even in the beginning with her as a larvae with the terrible misunderstanding before the ORCA was used. It still breaks my heart to see her die when she made that blood curdling and high pitched scream when she accepted her fate, but in the end it's always worth it because she's immortal and always bounces back, she may live multiple lives but there will always and forever be only 1 Mothra, also because she possesses the single greatest power that anyone could ever have, the power to sacrifice yourself for someone or something you love. Our natural world couldn't have had a better Mother to call it's Queen, and neither could Godzilla have had someone better to have called his Queen either. LONG LIVE THE QUEEN OF THE MONSTERS!!!!! I'm a mothra fanboy, always have been, the guys at work who have only known THIS Mothra dont understand and jokingly make fun of her and me, it's all good fun but it was sad to me that Mothra in this one was more of a symbolic character, and I feel they left out quite alot of her power. I mean she only has the stinger, silk, and beautiful god Ray's, when in the past she has had powers like energy beams she can fire from her antennae, acidic silk, stingers she can fire rapidly, incredible strength, high enough to pick up godzilla like a rag doll, the ability to deflect energy attacks like Ghidorahs lightning back at her enemies using mirror like scales from her wings, a suicide attack that is absolutely devastating, reincarnation making truly immortal in a sense, and each time she reincarnated, she comes back stronger and bigger than before. She also can fly at mach 7 like rodan, create gale force winds that can lvl cities like rodan. In other words she should have been able to easily fight rodan off, especially since they left out FIRE RODANS most devastating ability, his Uranium heat Ray's. Still, I will say that Legendary did truly honor her appearance and sound effects, easily the most crisp, most beautiful mothra, and I very much like the minor modifications they did with her legs
i have a theory that every time she gets reborn she has a new skill set which usually makes her stronger. the skills consist of her taking on a new form every time she is reborn (rebirth of moths forms too) but i would like that she can only have one power every lifetime

This was more an introduction to her. I was happy enough to see the God Rays plus they've already teased another egg in the end credits. If she gets her own film (which is probably likely due to the hugely positive reception of her in KOTM), then we'll probably see more of her and what she can do.

@@shawnathan89 Yeah i think if she ever gets her own film she'll be more powerfull ... but since Rodan and Mothra are less important in this one maybe they didn't want them to seem as powerfull as Ghidora and Godzilla so those 2 would remain the real big fight and not being overshadowed ^^
She didn't even want to fight Rodan. Rodan was just in the way of her helping Godzilla so she had to deal with him. Also, Rodan was stabbed in a non-lethal spot and was most likely paralyzed until the end. The way he screamed when he fell made me think he was dead 😂 he was so dramatic.

I grew up watching the older Godzilla films on VHS. Hearing Mothra’s original theme revamped in the film made me cry like a baby in the movie theatre. She’s a beauty!

My brother was obsessed with Godzilla as a kid (and still is today), so he introduced me to Mothra. We had quite a few Mothra movies, so naturally, I became OBSESSED with her as a kid! I was so happy to see her in this movie, even if it was only for a little bit
I like how despite a lot of times being quite cute and fluffy, she's also got a good amount of awesome badass in her too! That plus the fact that she's a gentle giant really adds to her character too! Hope to see her make a return honestly
