Arabian Prince on Being Founding Member of NWA w/ Dre & Eazy-E

  • www.vladtv.com - Arabian Prince set the record straight about several things involving N.W.A., including their first record, the original members of the group, and more.
    Speaking about the "N.W.A. and the Posse" album, Arabian Prince told us that the project is actually a "bootleg" that Macola Records' Don McMillan put together once they left the label. He pointed out that the album was never authorized, and Arabian Prince said that the original project just says "N.W.A." on the cover.
    During the conversation Arabian Prince also spoke about the original members of N.W.A., which included Ice Cube, Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, and himself. The West Coast artist said that DJ Yella and MC Ren came into the situation later on, which he says can be proven by looking at the back cover of the first album that features the first four members.
    Check out more of what Arabian Prince had to say above.

      +Tank Franz It wasn't a legit bio pic. They left out Arabian Prince, they made DJ Yella and Ren look like two extras. The film didn't show how abusive Dre was to women out of fear of public perception. The film didn't touch on what sparked Cube's political views.

      +Corey Cavalier Very true bruh... For every MJ... you can and will always find the folks who... knew the real deal.I can tell you, as well as others (who were there) that 8MILE was ONLY about as real as, the names of the characters (the story was theatrical and everybody on the inside who, heard Em's "first record" really knew that, it was a crew record and that it was being used to introduce the "Great White Hope" to Hip Hop... most of the dudes in D12 didn't even like him but there weren't/aren't Label A&R's runnin' round the "D")... but I digress.Funny thing about that Bootleg was that, I cop'd mine on vinyl, at a store that allowed me to do returns (I was DJin)... Ironically, I didn't like that record for 2 reasons... A. I was in the middle of "Real Gangsters" and wasn't tryin' to hear what, I was tryin' to get away from (didn't need a soundtrack for deaths/murders/nDope)B. As Prince stated, "Don threw a bunch of other..." (that album had too many things goin on and no cohesion).Stay UP.

      Chuck Turnher I just listened to N.W.A and the Posse and heard all of that other Techno and Electro stuff on there and was like, "wtf, really?" It really does sound out of place on the record.

    • @chuckturnher4986
      @chuckturnher4986 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Corey Cavalier You never lied... That's why I took the record back (dubbed a few songs 1st though)... Now I do get what they were sayin' about the fast up-tempo stuff (I like lemons, peanut butter and pickles but they don't go together)... That up-tempo/dance sound was big with the whole Florida/Cali Latino Freestyle period (84 - 89) and is great for the clubs but not for rollin around a bunch of dudes... Oh well... If it got them on; I can't be mad at'um.
      Stay Up Corey.

    We used to bump Panic Zone, Something to Dance to etc. right along with the rest of the tracks. As a DJ I saw that those songs did very well at parties back then. I continued to follow Arab after he left the group. I'm glad the truth was able to come out.

    Gangsta Gangsta was not recorded before Boyz n the Hood, smh... Let me give all you new fans a history lesson;
    Boyz n the Hood was the first song recorded that started the whole NWA movement. The version most people know where Eazy says "it was Gangsta Gangsta at the top of the list" is from the remix on the Eazy-Duz-It album from 88. The original version from 86 starts off with "Cruisin down the street in my 64". They added the extra part at the beginning of the song to the remix in 88 and by then Gangsta Gangsta was already made.

One of biggest being that MC Ren talked about reuniting the group without Eazy since he talked to him in two years and stated the only connecting they really had by then was Ruthless records. Also, during those two years, Ren had made plans to leave as well due to his dislike for E and realization that he was better off without him.

    @mrswagnificent261 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Vlad let's get Ren on here. He hasn't been getting the credit he deserves. He wrote basically wrote more than a third of Eazy's first album, more than a third of straight out of Compton, wrote just but all of 100 miles of runnin, and 50-60% of ******4life! He was just as important as Dre when Ice Cube left.

    Hate that Arabian Prince got shafted from the film. Dude was a founding member, made some hits back in the day too, is on the over of SOC, and left because the money wasn't making sense before Cube really did. He was the 6th member of the group and the movie basically erases him from their history. I mean he's not doing, bad. He doesn't really need the exposure because he is doing good for himself by still making music on Stones Throw Records. But it just sucks he was part of one of the most important rap groups in history who just had a successful biopic and he's nowhere to be found in it. I feel for the dude even if it doesn't bother him that much.

E.P., The N.W.A. original E.P. Featured the tracks Panic Zone & two versions each of Dope Man & 8. Ball, a radio version & a street version, but other then that, great interview.

      Chuck Turnher
      I agree that D.O.C is definitely the missing link as well...but the reason i don't look forward to an interview with him is because you know there is no way he is going to really talk and reveal everything...so why bother. Another interview with someone who knows full well how to "steer clear" (like Yella) of the real info, isn't really going to contribute anything new to the story.

    • @urbanflavorz

  • @christianb8900

    No no no, the line "Gangsta, Gangsta at the top of the list" was a NEW set of versus added to the beginning of the older version of Boyz in the hood. (the newer version otherwise known as the Remix version). That is why Eazy said in the next sentence, "Then I played my old shit, and it went something like this". That is a reference to the older version of Boyz in the Hood that was on the Posse album from 1987. (or whatever you want to call it). So that means that Vlad and Arabian Prince are both wrong. - The reason why I say this is because "Gangsta, Gangsta" came out as a single BEFORE the album Eazy-duz-it, even though the Eazy-duz-it album came out before the Straight out of Compton album. However, there's a problem.......Wikipedia show that the Straight out of Compton album came out before the Eazy-duz-it album, but I feel that several years ago, the dates were different on Wikipedia. It was somewhat always known that the Eazy-duz-it album came first. (regardless of the release dates of the singles). But now as you google all of this, history has been changed yet again, because of the internet. - Also keep in mind that on "We want Eazy", someone calls in and asks when their "12 inch record is coming out". The caller was asking about the Straight out of Compton album, since at that time, only a couple of singles had been released. (some will argue that the 12 inch record spoken of was the re-release of the Posse album in 1989, but I personally reject that idea).

  • @urbanflavorz

    Props on the interview but Vlad is getting his facts consfused as usual. The "Gangsta Gangsta at the top of the list" lyrics is from the prelude to Boyz N da Hood from the Eazy Duz it album not on the original Straight Outta Compton album. So it wasn't showing that Gangsta Gangsta came out first, he was saying both songs were old.
    Even though he didn't get the fame and fortune as the others its a good thing. He looks about 15 years younger than the rest of NWA. Beleive me, if he stayed in the group he would have had about 10 baby mothers (like Dre and Eazy), Stressed out, weed, etc, he would be looking old as dirt.
    Ask Ren why didn't he go to Eazy's funeral and about the statutory rape case he caught back in the NWA days.

    • @urbanflavorz
      @urbanflavorz 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right it actually happened doing NWA days i want to say 89 or 90. But there was no internet or big media for rap so alot of that got swept under the rug. And its not something you can google or wikipedia so must of these people like Vlad can't search for it. You just had to be up on rap doing the time.

    • @raregrimebeats1352
      @raregrimebeats1352 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +urbanflavorz yeah a show in Alabama on a tour bus with a 16 year is what I know. The settlement was declined by NWA or something and Ren actually got the girl pregnant who had his baby I beilieve. It was crazy because on niggaz4life you have Ren rapping about sex with a minor (turns out he did) and then you have dre rapping about smacking a woman on one song (turns out he did). I can see the albums content being justified as just being entertainment but when you have the back stories to these guys it just feels abit too real listening to it sometimes lol. BTW, I think MC Ren's rape case was being treated as actual rape rather than statortory rape , if I'm not mistaken the age of consent in Alabama is 16 anyway. The girls name was shiela Davis
