  • Let's build a new full-size droid!
This marks the start of a new droid build. B2EMO as seen in the series Andor is one of the latest offerings from Michael Baddeley. Currently available to his Patrons, if you'd like to build one yourself, head over to his Patreon page to sign up: / posts
In this first part, I build the mostly metal base frame and make good headway on the four (!) drive units.
This build is different from R2D2 in many ways beyond the obvious physical differences. There are a lot of non-3D printed parts, the internal structure and mechanisms are separate from the skins and body panels, and once completed, B2 will be have a much more dynamic demeanor than our old buddy R2.
Electronics will be incorporated much earlier in this build, and I will be diving into the world of RC control for this one - a new arena for me and one that I have already begun researching.
I'll share my progress at various points along the build, and try to pass along what I learn on my journey. Hope you stick around - this one will be really cool when it's complete.

Great video as usual Jason. I'm not intending to build this guy right now but I learn a lot about building droids from watching all your videos. Keep it up 😁.

Fantastic video Jason as always....Man I'm excited for this one to be my next driod. R2 is almost on his feet. B2 may be a winter project.

I spent most of today getting the drives finished and attached to the frame and it looks fantastic. Gotta figure out how I'm going to wire him up, but none of the electronics details have been posted yet, so it's looking like I might be stuck for a bit. It's a ton of fun so far - highly recommended if you've got the stomach for it!

Looking fantastic Jason. B2 is awesome. Got to see and play with Tim's this weekend at DragonCon, it was amazing. Can't wait to watch your progress.

Thanks! It's amazing what Michael, Tim, and the others have managed to accomplish with B2. I can't wait to get him moving. Congrats also to you and your very memorable photo op at DragonCon - I'm very jealous!

Were you got the wheels from? Thanks for sharing.

The wheels that I am using (as recommended by the design team) are the 4" BB Mecanum wheels available from andymark.com (www.andymark.com/products/4-in-bb-mecanum-wheels?Bore=Nub%20Bore&quantity=1&Mecanum%20Wheel=Full%20Set). They come as an unassembled kit, but they're easy (and fun!) to assemble.
