- Disassembling a 1st generation Chromecast to see the internal components that make it function. The one used in this example had stopped working, possibly by overheating as the device uses passive cooling.
This video just helped me resoldering the microUSB port (I didn't know which side it was, so polarity was hard to figure out)
I'm glad it helped!
Hello. Since you you didn't show when you opened it in the video what would be the best way to go about opening one of these for the first time?
Can we access Bluetooth, like pairing to a Bluetooth speaker??
How does a device like this maintain its power?
By chance would you know what would cause it to go completely dead and not power on, but when I put it in the freezer the light comes on then as it returns to room Temperature the led light blinks rapidly white then slows down to eventually no blinks and is still dead ? Google tech support said they have no clue !
That would be a hardware failure. Probably on the circuits connecting power.
How did you remove the metal. Mines on so damn tight.
I used a small screw driver and went around the edges with a twist.
I can’t open it
Should i replace the thermal paste? Or just put heatsinks on it? 😂 😂 😂 If i use thermal pads replacing the thermal pads how thick should they be? 2 or 2.5 mm or even thicker?
The paste would need to be replaced. My recollection is that the factory paste was on the thick side.
